Blizzards New Game

This... is... omg... omfg...

I am now counting down. I don't really know to when, but still.

Gonna play SC/BW campaigns a couple times out of sheer expectation!

But then again.

Am I the only one who thinks the graphics look dull and sucky?

It's kind of hard to judge from watching it on youtube, it never does a game justice that way in my opinion. I'm sure an official trailer by Blizzard would look more impressive rather than one videotaped and hosted on the web. From what I've seen I'd certainly say the graphics are better than the original.

Although it's really too early to make a judgement on the game, I wasn't really impressed by the gameplay footage.

If graphics are an important priority for the games you play, why are you here?

Your gaming experience may vary? Perhaps you should try some of those breathing exercises you mentioned.

Boy was I fooled.
I thought that there was an anouncement of a new game.
But no, there is an announcement that there will be a new game. When? No word on that.
I mean people were expecting someday there would be SC2. Now blizz has said there will be a SC2.
What changed? A few released details?

If anything the announcement is "no D3".

Previously as far as the public was concerned, SC2 was in a state much like Schroedinger's cat, where it was neither in a state of existence nor a state a non-existence (both at the same time?). This is now a confirmation that it exists.

People believe God exists...(thinking about another subforum now)

I only worry about how, if memory serves, Blizzard made it pretty clear that all their future games would be pay-to-play. That could do a lot to kill this.

Well at least this helps us calm down a little knowing they've been working all this time. Odds are they must have something up their sleeves for D3 as we speak. Interestingly (this might have been mentioned earlier but..) have you guys read the message 'Stay Awhile and Listen!' on the diablo2 splash page found here: http://blizzard.com/splash_diablo2.shtml
Its the only one with an exclamation mark... perhaps its a deliberate intent to emphasize that phrase in particular. Inciting us to read between the lines. That's their specialty: teasing us.

I think SC2 looks great. And the graphics aren't too advanced like the new Crysis FPS... so I think most PCs will be able to handle it.

Siege Tanks are good versus Zealots and Dragoon like stuff is good versus Siege Tanks? What kind of Starcraft world is this?

New SC2 goodies if anyone has not looked yet.

An interesting discussion on new unit types, and abilities.
Zealots can charge! Siege tanks own zealots, but are very weak against immortals, and some terran infantry are very effective against immortals. (The immortals have shields that activate to defend from heavy fire only.) Sound confusing? :) Looks like those Korean progamers have a lot to learn about these new unit combinations.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3ssDbw_yXo - Linky to Unit discussion pt 1. You can find part 2 fairly easy from there. :)

"The gameplay on the video footages was set on "slow", hence the reason why some people thought it's "too slow"."
Thank god you can speed it up. :)

Blizzard Q&A with the developers said:
StarCraft 2 will have no unit selection limit, which should please or enrage StarCraft purists. The game has been in development since 2003, and may have been further along had World of Warcraft not impacted the development process to a degree. Today, StarCraft 2's development team is around 40 members strong, with several other teams around Blizzard helping out here and there.

SCL said:
No selection limit? Good or bad - you choose. Forty members on the team - sounds like they are investing the resources...more on the development team as we learn more about them specifically.
No selection limit? That's what I thought most from the video clips so far. It looks like there is less emphasis on unit control and squads, and more on massing.
Hopefully, there is still a lot of micro and unit control involved. Only time will tell though.

I was thinking the same same thing Rodney. For better or worse though, things have changed with Starcraft 2. A little or a lot? Well I guess we'll see soon enough. I'll wait to see what you guys think about it as I'm going to pass on this title. I wasn't really impressed with the "GG" at the end of (what I believe is) the first gameplay video. Something about it just screamed out at me, "It's Starcraft, LAWL!".

Had they announced this five years ago I might too be overjoyed, hyped, ecstatic but it wasn't so I'm not. I just get the feeling that I wasn't a part of the "targetted audience" for this release. Meh.

I havnt played any of the starcrafts except for a few times, it looks good so far....I just hope it lives up to how great the old one was.

Only a few games have taken more than 200 hours of my time each.

Starcraft/Broodwar: Rough estimate 1500 to 2000 hours
Final Fantasy VII PC: Good estimate (since the game has a timer): 300 hours
Diablo II: Rough estimate 4500-6000 hours

So, if SC2 is half as entertaining as SC/BW was, I estimate 750 to 1000 game hours. At the very least. If its better than SC/BW then it will cut drastically into my D2 time. Doesn't matter. Still well worth the money, I'd say.

Another sequel game with 3D capabilities. It's been done before with Total Annihilation >> Supreme Commander.

It's only fun if you like upgrading your computer.

ho-ly smOKES. I'm in the group that has been waiting for SC2 since about 1999. I'm also in the group who were EXTREMELY disappointed when the announcement for Starcraft: Ghost wasn't SC2.

I'd rather have SC2 than D3 but, if they announce D3 at Blizzconn in August, I'm set.

From PC.IGN: It's currently in pre-alpha stages of development, and has been in production at Blizzard since the release of WarCraft 3: The Frozen Throne in 2003.

That means we should see it this year or next. Since its Blizzard we're talking about, I'm leaning toward next year. Still, I haven't been so excited about a game in a REALLY long time.

heh i remeber buying broodwar when it came out. Finished it on the same day (well technically the next day since i played all through the night) and then i sat there wishing for sc2. I'm looking forward to the release of sc2. I plan on preordering the game the moment i can and then retreating from the world for the next week or two after getting it.
