Blizzard and item selling websites

but usually it's due to the buyer being lazy or unwilling to MF.

Well, I didn't do any magic-finding :) In fact, every item I see that has mf% is immediately sold to charsi

No matter how often they patch dupe methods, etc. somebody will find new ways to lag the servers in an attempt to dupe. On top of this, plenty of morons use gmercs for dueling and just mfing (which is incredibly lazy and unecessary), which makes me think of a ten year old kid jumping up and down, smacking his mouse to equip and unequip his mercs gear. They usually carry lots of gold though, which makes them prime PK targets in games named "gmerc choas-##"

Nothing in IT is 100%. In fact, the main approach to this would be to fix things when they get out of hand. If they patch all the lag-inducing methods, then it could take lets say, 3 months for a new dupe method to be found and perfected. It would also take at least another 3 months for these dupes to make it onto the dupe-method-selling sites. After that, it'll take another 2 months for the dupe method to become widespread enough that an effect would be seen on the servers. That's 8 months of the servers being relatively lag-free for the cost of one patch.

After that, each progressive patch will last longer as more and more holes are plugged and the hackers will take longer to find new methods and eventually flounder.

Had this been implemented since 1.00, I think all the patches after 1.06 would have been either content addition or minor fixes.

The merc aura glitch can be fixed very easily. As for the other dupe methods, I would just do a blanket effect and make it so that you can't log onto the same account with more than 1 cd key at the same time. I expect that this would easily eliminate 99% of the dupe methods currently being used and a good 80%-90% of any future ones that would be thought up.

I know I'm sounding very arrogant in my suppositions, but I work in the field and I know that all of this isn't a strech. Its possible. It just needs some forward thinking instead of damage-control and troubleshooting.
