... I used Beast zerker axe to create the fanaticism so that my Might merc would hit faster. He is using Bonehew, Leviathan, Tal mask. I am thinking of using Crescent Moon on a Hyperion Spear or Mancatcher and put IAS jewels in maybe Griz armor and other helm so he could hit the fastest speedbreak....
Hands down.. you should be the one using the Cresent Moon.
I think you're missing something in this build. It's not the total damage, the high damage that does the work in bringing your monsters life down. Its the initial casting of Static + Crushing Blow + Open Wounds.
The damage is to finish them off faster. So while you tried out a Beast, which is a great Runeword with : Crushing Blow + Open wounds + Prevent Monster Heal... it's not a very good runeword for a Balde Fury Assasin.
The Open Wounds you can get 100% from Malice for example a low level rune word that can carry its own weight way into later NM and early Hell. You should relook at the stats of the Moon.

..That would take care of the static field I lack and he can hit faster than me. He will be closer to targets too....
There is no way a Merc will ever be able to hit faster than you. Your speed with BF is maxed, all the IAS jewels in the world wouldn't max his speed with the weapons you've proposed.
A merc is better to cast Static if he uses : Hwanins Refuge Armor. (Hwanins Majesty Set)
He is a tank and tanks gets hit a lot. Get that armor isntead of give him the Cresent Moon runeword. 10 monsters knicking down at him will set it off a lot. ...
Or if you can afford it.. give him both the armor + the runeword.. that just means U need a mean LL + Life Helmet

..I was still using Angelic armor, amulet and 2 rings because it's just so hard to let go the AR that fanaticism boosts. .
My sympathies.. but if you switched to a Cresent Moon the ITD would take care of this problem... not only freeing up your rings + amulet, but also providing you with a better weapon. Don't just look at the damage state, but at the stats. The Blade Fury assasin is a 'stat' build. Carefully weighed and measure to fit. You don't have to let anything go, just also to be on the safe side get yourself a Demon Limb on the switch so if you really need AR U can 'enchant' yourself.

.. I recently made Lionheart ... maybe should leave my str at 96 and sacrifice defense instead. The set bonus from Orphan is very nice but I knew I would have to let them go someday. I use Lavagout to get the lvl 10 enchant at the beginning of each game and then switch to Laying of Hand or Soul Drainer depends on where I go. Can't afford Dracul's. It's tedious as I have to run back to town to get other gloves. And since I am already losing the bonus on Orphan set I thought might as well let go the 75% block on Orphan shield and put on Lanceguard for its 20% deadly strike that I hardly notice working. Is it ok? I am doing only 2k damage even after the Might merc helps and the Venom..
[Note on the following - I am trying to help]
I feel you've gone entirely wrong on this ... The substitutions of gear you have choosen don't work together. Switching out one part of gear will also mean you have to switch another. The gear I have choosen is balanced down to the last peice. (Except the rings which you can basically do with what you want).
Here is what you should aim for, and do it now before it's too later :
The Top 3 :
Boots: Goreriders nothing else will do. I wo'nt even explain this one.
Helmet : Guillaumes Face nothing else will do. I wo'nt even explain this one.
Gloves : Soul Drainers nothing else will rival it. You'r esuing it for the Weaken stat, so your merc will survive longer as a tank and you will as well.
Medio :
Armor : Lionheart is a good armor... Duress ALL the way. You could use a Rattlecage but if you can afford it get a Duress.
Shield : Tiamat. Yes TIAMAT! Resistance and +200 elemental damage (after 3/4 penalty from Blade Fury)... You speak of Max Block.. which is great, but you also seem to ask for damage. In my experience you don't need max block but you do need more damage.. always need more damage. With Fade providing Damage reduction. Weaken making this better and your gear as well. having max resistances and damage reduction will be worth more than dodge.
Beserker or Cryptic Sword Etheral Cresent Moon runeword : GET THIS!
Low Importance :
Amulet : Highlords Wrath has that nice Critical Strike adder.
Ring1 : A Ravensfrost for that damage + cannot be frozen.
Ring2 : Feel free to get what you want.
Don't mess with this setup till you're 'very' confident in what you're doing.
Stats :
Strength 125 : You don't need this much you can settle for 115 depending on your armor. I'm for esthetics... I don't like 121.. nor 111.. not 101... not even 124.. No.. 50 ... or 75.. 100. 125 or 150. I want a factor of 25. I'm a nut like that.
Notes on Deadly / Critical Strike.. Just cause you do'nt notice it doesn't mean it's not there.. trust me IT'S THERE!!!
Lastly... Passion Runeword is horrible for a Blade Fury Assasin or his Merc... sorry no two ways around it. You need to put your beloved Beast aside and then sit down and think this through. Cause you seem to be confused on what to do.
Static or Crushing Blow.
STATIC!!! Static is what makes you viable in hell a lot of the time. A single stat that has a godly potential in the right hands. It just happens that the Blade Fury assasin hapen to be on that list.
I may sound a bit rough here and I'm sorry if I come across that way, but you have put some peices together that just don't work. They even counter each other a little. Go back to the guide and reread it.
Then ask yourself do I want to make this character like this .. only you can answer that, but I can't guarentee the equipment you've choosen to have any positive effect in Hell 8 Player games... I can guarentee the gear I suggest. So up to you to walk the tightrope I've put out there ... or climb back down. There is no two way around it either.
