best two handed weapon for zealot?

martel (too slow?)
lance (too slow?)
pike (ok with 30ias?)
exec ???
scythe (fastest? impossible to find a good one?)
the last type (yaris etc, I think there is an unique one with 40ias and low dmg) - impossible to find good one?

basically which one would be good for zealot/avenger/concentrator etc - chars which are based on high IAS, so for example I would use death's set + twitch

also what happens if some of them have ias mod (for example 30ias martel)


btw is it possible to change ones name on the forum?
 
Depends whether you're going for pure damage or using CB and such.

Possible one you might have overlooked and can save on stat points might be steeldriver? low str req, decent damage and good ias.

Bonesnap might also be good for CB and aiding res, if you go fana route, sure with fana, twitch and deaths combo, perhaps with goblin toe for extra CB should churn out good damage.

know fred was trying steeldriver ona berserker barb so should be ok for concentrate too im guessing.
 
an exec or lance is the best. hammers, axes and all sorts of polearms cant reach 5 fpa zeal.
exec needs 52% ias to reach 5 fpa zeal with lvl 20 fanaticism, lance needs 75% ias, which means that in both cases you need to have ias on the weapon to reach it (cause you need to use the deaths combo for cbf). On the exec you need atleast 10 ias, on the lance atleast 30 ias...

You can reach 5 fpa zeal with yaris or zweihanders too but they dont do that much damage.

There is a webpage out there which is excellent for calculating the increased attack speed breakpoints and such.. Google "weapon speed calculator" for it. trust me its great.

BTW: dont try a 2 handed zealot in hardcore :wink2:
 
I think a good bec de corbin with ias is the best 2h zealer choice, not that 2h zealers are good, or even fun with the awful fhr pallys have with 2h weapons

let's say for a second, that i was looking for a real challenge:
a 2h zealot in classic HC

if i'm serious about this, what would be the best setup i could go?

If i really wanted to do this, I'd assume I'd have to go holy freeze...

so i have 2 options:
#1 - semi-safe build with holy freeze
#2 - super-suicidal build with fant


Let's hear some good ideas for both please!! I'm looking to you fred for some imagination!!

Hmmm HC? If i really really wanted to do it i would go with a holy freeze steeldriver zealer... but im guessing you will get deeds at normal duriel ^^

rofl, no way, i could atleast make it to act 4 NM, dare me to make a steeldriver/holy freeze zealot in classic hc

nothing better than a fun challenging char... atleast i won't complain about killing 2 slow

anywho, how bout this setup:

steeldriver, sigon's armor, 3p ruby helm, death's gloves/belt, sigons boots, angelic rings, angelic ammy

i'd have sick damage, nice AR, 18 LL, decent life

you still don't think it's feasible??
 
Fred: why is a bec the best 2h zealot weapon when both execs and lances do more damage than a bec and have a faster attack speed aswell?

JEstevam: Thats a pretty good idea and it really could do that far into the game (especially if you use a low player setting). I would switch the helmet with iratha's one though because resists tend to be more important than extra life. One of the rings could also be a resist ring with AR and leech if you are lucky enough to have it.

Bec's have base speed 0, range 5, damage from 13 to 85 with str req 133 and dex req 91.
Lances have base speed 20, range 5, damage from 27 to 114 with str req 110 and dex req 88.
Execs have base speed 10, range 3, damage from 47 to 80 with str req 170 and dex req 110.
Grim Scythes have base speed -10, range 5, damage from 30 to 70 with str req 140 and dex req 140.

Personally, I can see why Fred would pick a Bec. I would pick a Grim Scythe or a Bec. Speaking of which, I think that will be my next project, a Grim Scythe 2H Zealer. I still have a 40IAS descent damage grim scythe lying around anyway. :)
How feasable would this be in Hell though ? I'll just have to find out once I have enough statpoints gathered to use the scythe.

Well, I just checked and if I use that 40IAS Grim Scythe, I will only need 5 more ias to get the 4 frames breakpoint. I think I will be amused. :)
That does leave most of my equip choice wide open. Any suggestions ?
I should prolly go for res and/or some CB ?

whatta? where did you check it from? cause the weapon speed calculator site i use (you know the one with german weapon names and stuff) says that polearm class weapons can only reach 6 fpa zeal, while swords and pikes can reach 5 fpa.
 
i'm loving the possibilities of goign steel driver and getting sick vitality, i honestly might have to make this char, any additions to it before i begin?? lol people are gonna laugh their azz off in nm cows when they see me zealing with a big martel
 
yup, it will be horrible with 8 fpa zeal which is why i suggest doing nightmare on players 1 and cows look like an especially bad idea. even my one-handed clegs fanat zealot with 75% block struggled with them (at around lvl 45) so beware. Ill give you a "balls of steel" award if you manage to pull it off though.

Okay, well I am going to need holy freeze to survive in HC

what are some gear ideas for getting a nice quick fps on zeal with a 2h,

should i go steeldriver or bonesnap or another item alltogether?

Should I use twitch? deaths or sigons? 3p Ruby hat, Iratha's, or other?
LETS MAKE THIS ZEALOT HAPPEN!

I was simply looking at the IAS tables, didn't really take weapon limitations into account.
Having looked at that calc though, I am still considering mebbe going for a exec I got from a friend last night, 30ias 192, which, with a level 23 zeal requires only 20 ias on top of it's 30 to make the fastest (5) breakpoint. So I could even just use Iratha's set. I would prefer not to, because that way I would only get 65 res all and all of my gear would be fixed (Iratha's,Silks,SoJs,Gobs)
Bloodfist and goldwrap is another option. Twitch is a option aswell.
Best one is probably good old Deaths. Just can't beat that Cbf,15pris and 30ias. I would then even be able to suffice with just level 11 fana, although I may need to fill fana for it's damage bonus.

What do you think about this setup ?
