Battlenet

I want to play on battlenet. If I have two computers, both with the same broadband internet, then will I need two different copies of the game to be able to play on battlenet with both computers at the same time? If I can install the same copy on both computers and play battlenet on both that would make it a lot easier
I just thought that maybe the CD-key can only be used once or something..........please tell me what I need to do.

The CD key can be used multiple times; however, you cannot log onto Battle.net at the same time with two separate computers that use the same CD key. You'll need two keys to run the game at the same time.

so i can use the same cd-key and play on battlenet with two different computers, just not at the same time. can i also get one account for one computer, and a second account for my second computer? Its just me and my brother obviously want to use our own characters etc....and if possible, play on the same multiplayer game at the same time.
by the way, will tcp/ip work between the two computers if they have the same copy of the game installed?

You can make different accounts that's no problem.

Only if you want to play online together you will have to use 2 cd-key's
And I believe that via tcp/ip you don't but how that works... I have no idea.

Either way good luck with it all.

If you wish to play together at the same time, you cannot use the same CD key. You can, of course, have multiple accounts associated with one CD key.

As for the TC/IP thing, I have no clue.

From what I can gather, the error message "CD-Key is in use by [user name]" will only come up if you try to connect to battle.net while another person with the same CD-Key is on bnet. So, you should be fine to play over TCP/IP with the same CD-Key installed on each machine. Don't quote me on this though

if i bought a used copy off e-bay, could i install that and use it to play on battlenet even if the other person has already created a battlenet account, and therefore has used that cd-key in creating his account?
according to what you say, it should be ok right-because if I have the cd and am using it to play, then he can't be using it at the same time. Am i right?

Buying a used copy on eBay is always risky with Battlenet. CD-keys are not tied to a specific CD, Battlenet checks the cd-key which has been entered while installing the game. So, the seller does not specifically need the same cd in order to play his version of Diablo II on Battlenet, which is in fact quite dangerous. If he keeps the game installed on his computer, he will be able to continue to play on Battlenet using a no-cd crack or even a copied cd. Or he could have bought a second copy himself and sold his first one (after writing down the key). If he has just one copy of the game, but two cd-keys, he can use them both on Battlenet.

In both of these cases, you won't be able to log onto Battlenet if he is playing. It is also possible that he got his cd-key banned and therefore decided to sell the game on eBay, in which case his key is useless to you. But in any case, always remember that a second hand copy of the game has a cd-key you might be sharing with someone else, that's all.
