Baal in Hell

Hi there.

I'm sure this been asked many times before but couldnt find a specific topic on the first 4ish search results pages, so here goes:

Don't Summoners solo Hell Baal?

I can't find a way to do it. I got mediocre gear (paired with impressive skill...), got myself a nice teleport amulet and even so I'm now able to get to Baal with 8 revives, 10 skels, 8 mages and a merc, once he teleports/duplicates/raises tentacles it's over. My summons run off in every direction fighting clones and tentacles and are ripped apart by Baal's aoe attacks or cause their lifespan is over.

Unless it's different on hell as opposed to normal and nightmare, if you cast cast decrepify on him he doesn't teleport or create copies of himself (while the curse is in effect).

Re: Baal in Hell

Decrepify of course but more importantly you need + to summons skills. Ideally lvl 30+ to regularly run Hell Baal.

Re: Baal in Hell

Decrepify+clay golem+ cold damage = baal that cannot move. This works on all of the act bosses. To actually kill him fast, it's all about your mercinary. Your mercinary needs to have some crushing blow items (guillame's, duress, hone sundan, strength, rattlecage, whatever). Your job as a necro is to keep Baal slowed while your mercinary kills him.

Re: Baal in Hell

And if Baal duplicate/cast twin, then run little further, make tp. Visit town, maybe buy some pots etc... but wait 10-15s and re-enter. Baal is again alone, rince and repeat if clone appears again.

Re: Baal in Hell

No need for that unless you let decrepify expire and he made a clone. Just keep him decrepped, which you should be doing against act bosses anyway, unless you're doing nightmare runs in which case amp damage will make it go a bit more quickly. But yeah, TP'ing almost always removes the clone when I've made the mistake of not casting decrep for whatever reason - smushing the keyboard with sticky fingers being the number one culprit :)

Re: Baal in Hell

I'm impressed you can get to hell baal with such few +skills. I always have the opposite problem with baal being really easy, and getting to him being more difficult. In general, make sure he's really slowed, which helps a lot. Once you get some cold damage and a decriphy curse on him, he casts very few spells, and it just a matter of waiting for him to die.

Having crushing blow on your merc will help a lot too.

Re: Baal in Hell

You don't even need CB despite how fast it makes the encounter go. I just went down there with a bunch of skeles and killed him. Oh wait, no I killed his clone first (), but Baal himself was nice enough to wait off-screen for me to kill his clone, so then I went up and killed him.

Re: Baal in Hell

Thanks to everyone who answered. This decrepify tactic is almost too cheesy to feel right. :S But hey, before that I found him undoably hard so take that, Blizzard...

@Oblique, nec is pretty much untwinked and Baal is the only fight that's no complete joke. Not because the dmg was too low, but because it gets divided between 2 baals and 37 tentacles. ;)
