Are Hell Bovines (Cows) Demons?

I think they are. All monsters in the game, IIRC, are either undead or demons. Cows are demons.

Someone correct me if im wrong on this.

wouldn't they be an animal like the Wendigo?

Edit: I think there are Demons, undead, and animals according to battle.net

Thought there were: demons, undead, animal, and humanoids. Prolly a numerical desigantion in an mpq file somewhere. Quick and easy way to tell if something is a demon or undead is to highlight it with the mouse and see if it says under the name, if it doenst say "undead" or "demon" its not either. Don't believe cows are, King might be though.

Hmm...maybe there are animals too, that sounds familiar.

Maybe cows are demons...now youve got me all mixed up Subby :flip:

AFAIK, {monsters}-{demon}-{undead}={animal}
and {demon}^{undead}^{aminal}={}
it's on battle.net somewhere.

I just pulled my info up from battle.net and found that there are three types of monsters (I didn't see humaniods as enemies.)

But then again, there isn't anything that adds damage against animals AFAIK.

I say demons. Rn't mosnters divided as demons and undead... like u never see XXX to animals or somthing but just to demons or undead.

It's simple: There are demons, undead and those who are not either of that.

People usually call them "animals", probably because they were also called like that in Diablo 1. It's just a "species" given to them so you don't have to say "the-monsters-who-are-neither-demon-or-undead". :) So that's why "animal" is sometimes not a good name for them. Nothing in the game do extra damage or anything else against these "animals".

Also, even if the game data files say some items do extra damage against "flying" and "large" creatures, and so on, this isn't true. Only the enhanced damages against special monster types as shown in game is actually used.

Cows are cattle, nothing else. I think the three monster types are demons, undead and minions. Some of them are demon minions, but that means they're still demons. Cows are not undead, nor are they demons. So they have to be minions.

Minions is usually a term used for followers of a boss monster (i.e. "Pus Spitter the Mad"). But yeah, all monsters in the game are minions of either the lesser or the prime evils. :) Like the Corrupted Rogue's are minions of Andariel. ;) And some minions can be undead, and some demons, but not all are either of them.

Heya Jugalator :howdy:

IIRC doesn't it say something about "Animal" in the MPQ files? It have been quite awhile since I checked so I can be totally wrong.

Hi Nacaa :D

I dunno about the MPQ files, but in that case, it would be evidence that also Blizzard amongst their developers also used the term "animal" for monsters that are neither demon nor undead. However, "animal" is no special monster type -- it's the monster "type" people usually use for monsters that lack one.

Witchy beat me too it...I'd like to see a secret level full of "Hypocrite", "Moron", Teacher, and Parent type monsters (edit: forgot GF/BF), that you could keep killing to let out frustration
