Any interest in a 1.13 ladder?

Hmm....

My preference would be to start earlier, using the beta. Then again, I've already wiped my stuff and am planning on restarting soon anyway - I'd just prefer it not to be in 3 months time! I also don't want to start a sorc today and spend two months MFing only to begin again once the final patch is released.

Maybe we could pick a date for our ladder to start, and begin at that time irrespective of whether the patch has gone live?

I guess this is a little biased/selfish towards my own position, as I'm sure there'll be others who don't want to start until the patch is finalised (who knows, maybe SP will miraculously get some attention between now and then). Although given recent history we could be waiting a very long time for this to go final...

So, I'd be keen on, for example, a 01 Feb start with a mandatory upgrade as soon as the patch is finalised.

Well, 1.13 beta and the final release isn`t the same patch, so starting ladder in one and continue it in the next one seems weird to me. We might even get into trouble with bugged stuff in 1.13 beta that will be fixed later (not likely, but that will probably be very bad for the ladder).

That being said, I don`t have that much against it since we might have a really long wait ahead of us.

Ooouwell... starting the ladder when 1.13 goes final would make a lot of sense, no chance of surprising changes and probably more people participating (there’s always more activity on the forum at patch releases).

On the other hand I don’t see much of a problem with starting with the beta. There’s really no item related stuff that can be exploited (like +2 skill rings etc.) by moving them from beta to final, unless they nerf rune words or something for the final release. The only issue I see is if they actually come around and give us ladder rune words, which would bring back the never-ending question on whether mods and vanilla should be mixed. It would be a bummer to have a ladder divided in vanilla and FAM for no reason.

I figured this was also covered by the more general term of “no rushing”, but we could of course have this rule. I think a limit of 10 levels is way too tight though, as that would prevent e.g. a level 83 and a level 96 character of doing baal runs together, which is silly. Perhaps 20?

What if I want to join with my uber pvp char and slaughter unsuspecting pvm baal runners ? (in HC :badteeth: ) ;) I agree that rushing might spoil the whole idea of climbing ladder but still, we might just leave it at "no rushing ppl please" and just have nice trustworthy ladder ;)

Agreed. If we simply state no rushing and leave it at that it should be enough. No point in making things overly complex, IMO.

@KT - if we started with vanilla and fam separate and by some miracle Blizzard enabled the ladder runewords in 1.13 we could always just merge the ladders at that point in time. It would mean that some people enjoy the benefits of certain runewords earlier than others, but given that this entire endeavour is for fun and entertainment (and not profit) what would it really matter?

I would agree with that, but then again all those characters would be considered FAM by general SPF standards.

I will ask Thyiad to ban everyone on the ladder whom have not reached level 99 and have a complete grail within 3 months, and I will ask sirpoopsalot to ban everyone whom does not participate in the ladder. So you're between a rock and a hard place my friend. ;)

When 1.13 hits, i will start running travi like crazy with my new barb. I have no intention of starting a new char. So i would not participate.

Bummer with the delay. I personally dont believe its becouse they "consider userbase input". We have been throu this kind of BS way too much times before.

Anyways, I vote for final 1.13, as it seems its really in distant future and the changes may be huge comparing it to this beta-schmeta. :scratchchin:

I'd say wait for the final release. It wouldn't make much sense to start in an unfinished patch. And to start a beta-ladder would make even less sense ;)

Of course I haven't given my items away, so I'm in a very different position compared to others.

For those in that particular situation - maybe a tournament or 2 could tide you through? :)

It's nice to see so much support there for vanilla. It surprised me.

@nubikoen, waiting for final is the logical thing to do. I just hope it won't be this time next year!

As for me, I'll continue chipping away at HC in the meantime. I have started a couple of SC characters in 1.13 vanilla, but don't want to put much effort into them if the ladder is going to start relatively soon. I'm still tied up with OVGs anyway :wink:

GG for the table, was hoping for more people though. Lets hope it gets better when 1.13 gets out. That said, I also support waiting for final.

I've been thinking of playing HC until the patch is finalised, then going SC in the ladder, but maybe it'll make more sense to do it the other way around, given how many people are planning a HC ladder.

Means I can get on with my SC restart whilst I wait...

Uptaded, I prefer FAM and SC but would play the mode with the most people - FAM/HC, Vanilla/SC or Vanilla/HC :D
