Stinger didn't counter jack. I stated in my post if you play cautiously enough, you will never die, no matter what your gear.
If you want to hork every OK in CS, great. If you never lay a trap within a screen of you, more power to you. If you find this a fun way to play the game, go ahead. But don't think you're at all better at someone else in the game because you play like a 70 year old woman.
Personally, I laugh at anyone who dies in HC. I don't care what gear you have, this game is ridiculously easy, requires minimal reaction time and skill to survive.
Here's the thing: no matter what gear you have, you can push the limits of this game and put yourself in a situation where you can die.
There's a few reasons why I choose to play with uber gear: first, the better the character, the greater the fall. With crap gear, I don't really care much if I die: it takes a few days or some pgems to get the gear back. But if I just spent a month to get an infinity, enigma, etc., I'm much more nervous and get a much greater rush when I come close to dying. Second, what would you do? Race go carts that go 15 mph, or race in 200mph race cars? Which would give you more of a rush: betting 5$ on a baseball game, or your life savings? There is no reason to criticize players for deciding to play with better items.
The irony is I feel safer on my sorc--the first char I made this ladder--than I do my perfect javazon. When I'm casually MFing, the most dangerous part of my game is teleporting: the orb sorc, with 550 HP, 70-some cast rate, 75% block and around 60% resist all is not going to get hit by anything, while my terribly slow Javazon probably takes a couple health pots to get to Baal and often times gets stuck in d/a/e/block animation when I tele into a group.
