all strenght charger?

I wonder if such a character could work.
Just grab the highest damage martel/bh you can get and put everything into strenght.
Max charge
Max synergy
Max fanaticism (highest damage?)

wonder about the rest of the gear of such a character
let's consider typical duel gear (res/life)

would he be viable in any way?
I think he could take out sorcs in 1 hit (woudlnt they do the same?)

but what about necros? foh-ers? amazons?

definitely he couldnt touch the barbs

I was in this kind of thoughts some time ago, but I was given the advice not to try too much str. After all, gaining +300 str (=300 or 330%ed) is not all that much when you skills gives almost 1500% on their own.
 
You're going to get crushed with low life by any decent dueler. Necs will cage you and laugh, Zons will Dodge/Avoid/Evade and/or block you easily, and Sorcs can just Tele away.

if I were you i'd go with conviction instead, the damage from an aura isn't very significant compared to charge, and I think if conviction can hit them right before you land the hit, the -defense would be more valuable
(an added bonus would be to chant this charger with a chantress and do crazy damage)

if it doesn't hit in time, i would probably consider blessed aim, no one uses it, but i think a charger is the one instance it makes sense, huge AR with it on, plus the extra passive AR bonus they added to it

the only other possibility i'd go with is just use VIGOR

Vigor + charge = amazing with a range 1-3 weapon, you can easily lock an opponent if they don't have block

I'd really pick conviction/blessed aim/vigor over fant

fant would be better if u had pts to spare into maxing both fant/blessed aim probably

does the 20% un-interrupt-able from conc really mean anything to a charger?? if it mattered that might make sense
 
the difference between fant/might at lvl20 is +140%, i question how much of a difference that'd make

i'd probably go 170 str with a martel for sure if you wanna go with the idea, only increase it if it'll mean 1 less successful hit needed to kill

with a pvp penalty of 1/6

besides a barb can you find anyone with hp any higher than say 1500?

you'd have to deal 7500 to kill some1 with 1500 hp

so if your min damage is 2500, you'd have to get it to 3750 to make a definate difference, though of course you'll kill more ppl with 1 less hit when u hit at the middle to higher range

if your min was at 1500, you'd have to increase it to 1875 to kill a 1500hp in 4 hits isntead of 5

You probably just want 170 strength + rest in vit

+9 min damage rings with AR would probably help a lot too

here's a setup off the top of my head

-Good Rare Martel
-Rattlecage/blinkbat (bonefleesh/silks could be a possibility too)
if not a unique i'd go rare ornate
-114 life ruby helm, Iratha's helm with 2 other parts, sigs helm, or a rare
-clegs/bloodfist/sig's gloves/iratha's gloves
-iratha's belt/sig's belt/bladebuckle/rare str belt
-sig's boots/gtoe/rare 30run boots
-angelic rings & ammy or +9min AR rare rings & +9min rare ammy

I say you have 3 main options:
1)min damage route
2)faster run route
3)crushing blow route

sig's helm/boots + ornate/rattecage + bloodfist + iratha's belt + gtoe/rare 30run boots + 9min damage jewelry
-or-
iratha's helm/gloves/belt + blinkbat + rare 30run boots + 9min damage jewelry/angelics combo
-or-
sig's helm/belt + rattecage + clegs + goblintoe +9min damage jewelry/angelics combo

i'd use:
blessed aim/might with #1 min damage build
vigor with #2 speed build
blessed aim/might with #3 crushing blow build

I surely hope you aren't serious in asking this question... my hammerdin, which admittedly is not that great of a build, due to the str I have invested in him in order to wear a -req ornate (with additional twinking) has in the order of 1700 life, naked, no BO, if I recall correctly... I won't mention how much he has with gear on, as for one, it would call for more speculation. but his warhat, 9x ed embossed -req armor, and belt all add sigificant amounts of life.

the pure vita-din's typically have over 2k life naked, BO-less.

oh, in my experimenting with my chanter, and laptop on a failed attempt at a lld - the chant appeared to add AR, but did NOT transfer into damage on the actual charge.



 
A few answers...

Chant does appear to add to damage on the character screen. And also seemed to transfer to charge, and for that matter, other skills as well.

For the other person, it shouldn't be that hard to get 7500 damage with a good martel...in lod I got 27k max with crazy gear and a chant ^_^
 
I have a friend's old pure strength charger on NL using a +2pal 28x martel, not very effective but fun for an occasional duel.

I thought it was 300% x 1500% = 4500%, not 1800% :/
