Player 8 was time consuming until I found an Ort and Eth rune. Stuck them in a long battle bow for a nice Zephyr. Also found a 4% life leech and a 2% mana leech ring. Still searching for a nice 2os armor to make a stealth runeword out of. Once I hit 30, things will get much easier with a valkyrie.

Got up to lvl 26 in the arcane sanctuary doing it all on p8. Found me a nice unique large shield, which should come in handy for meph (if it lasts that long). Also, ith and tal runes! I put the ith in a claw I found two minutes before and left the tal on the ground. Lightning Sentry is now at a whopping lvl 3 and doing 1-49 damage I believe, laying waste to all that come up against it. Saving the canyon for when I have loads of time, as it will be a pain not knowing which tomb dury lies behind.

Once again, the further you've progressed, the higher up on the table you go!

Just a quick question, rule #5 says no using the stash in town and I certainly have not been, but I got to wondering whether it would be in the theme of the tournament if you could use it at legitimate, mandatory town visits?

By mandatory I mean when you go to a new act, when you kill Fangskin, etc, but specifically NOT when you restart the game after save and exit?

I think this would be kinda cool, because you would still have to be very strategic with your usage of it, because once something is in there you can't touch it for a while, potentially past where you may need it (if you're not careful).

Anyway, just thought I'd throw that out there as a point of discussion.

Update-wise, Warnie is in the Flayer Dungeon as I write, and should be into Kurast tonight, I think I'll save Travincal, etc for another day...will update including table when I stop for the night.

Ok, so Warnie kept on keeping on. Meph is dead. He dropped a golden trident which remained on the floor as a memorial to the great victory.

No great problems, and the wolves are behaving themselves very well indeed. I now have 3 rals and a tal, but am waiting for the Ort (even though I could make one), at which stage I'll probably consider Zephyr, or just a runed bow with some elemental damage.

I got edited out of the table way back on post #91, but Princess_Diana has made it to the Far Oasis WP, which was just inside the bridge from the Dry Hills, a good spot to stop. She now has MA to 11, which is where I noticed the mana stop going down, so I am saving points for now. Maybe some other Amazon fans can tell me, but the AR from MA seems bugged somehow. When I fire normally (using a real arrow) I hit around 90% of the time, but when I use MA it hits about half the time. Eh? This is painful as I run around screaming like anything but Wonder Woman. I am beginning to wonder if Duriel will be the end of me; that's going to stink. But since finding the cube I am in good spirits, and I am sure to drop to P1 upon entering a new area until I have cleared some wiggle room.

I decided to take a breather at Stony Field. I came to realize fairly early that my plan to go pure poison and bone won't really work out too well. I think I'm looking at a bone/summon hybrid, atleast with golems.

I also noticed that cold based enemies are tough and that teeth wasn't as strong as I remember it being.

Thought I'd post my first progress report. Decided on a trapper. Things are going well so far. Just finished the tamoe highlands and I've reached level 17. I needed to leave behind two packs of ghosts on the way to the countess, they are the only things not killed so far. I have a 2 socket katar with chipped rubies waiting for Andy, but I have yet to find any antidote pots.

OK, so I take my new trapper through stony fields, and remember why I haven't played a trapper in a long time. I hate it. So I restarted with a toon that I have been wanting to try for a long time. The passive zon. A friend of mine had one in the low 90's, and called it a Jedi-zon. It was impressive to see in action. Untwinked, without the ability to repair items may be a little more than I can handle, but I am going to try it anyway. I have been using a chipped gem bow so far for lack of finding a better weapon. No problems at all, getting ready to clear Black Marsh and the Countess. I found Arctic Furs from the golden chest in Underground Passage level 2. I was pretty happy about that. Nothing else really interesting so far, but then again I am only at Black Marsh. I may play a little more tonight, but I have an early morning patrol. (I am in Baghdad)

A bit of an update - ran through Andy (changed to /p1 because I was nervous). She dropped the helm for the Bezerker's Set, which I would have worn had I not found Biggin's Bonnett earlier. I've worked through the sewers and up to the Far Oasis doing a full clear on /P8. Only 1 NDE on my way to get the cube - walked into a room full of ghouls (the ones that explode poison when you kill them) and the boss guys who ressurect them - unfortunately the doorway into the room was quickly blocked after I had passed into the room so my skellies couldn't follow (argh). Ran around the room for a bit hoping that they'd break through, but that didn't happen, so I ran into the next room and fortunately several of them teleported back to me (whew!). Took the rest of it pretty slowly from there on out. The wp for the Far Oasis we just a few steps into the area, so I figured that's be a good place to stop. The cube makes a HUGE difference (I also lucked out and found a Tome of Identify in the Jail, act 1. I had never pumped my fist in celebrations at a Tome of Identify before - gotta love this tourney!

After a full clear of Act 1, WheresEveryone fell to Radament. I was planning to make him a summon/fire/hunter type but with no mana to speak of it was difficult. I didn't switch down for Rad and my wolves decided not to follow my lead when I tried to pull them back. I should have ran away but...

Small update. Made it past meph. The council was harder than he was, but a mana regen shrin right next to him made the fight easy. Dire Wolves are tough buggers, and as long as I am patient and don't try to move to quickly it has been smooth sailing. I was hoping for a good drop from forge, but a stupid El ruined those thoughts. I got a ptopaz though, which i put in Alone's helm along with a flawless topaz that also dropped. Hopefully that little bit of MF will help with later drops.

On a side note, I am having great trouble using my plants effectivly. They die in one hit, two if I am lucky, and don't seem to do anything effective at the moment. The corpse eater is good for after battles regaining my HP without a potion, and I pop it out for rezzers to help deal with the bodies. Other than that I usually leave it unsommoned. The poison plant dies even faster than the rezzer it seems. Anyone have a suggestion for this, or are they just hard to work with and need to be recast every few seconds?

1 - the tourney will likely go on for a while, and you can start up any time before (I think) September. Check the first post in the thread for details.

2 - you simply declare yourself "in" with a character. For directions how to edit tables, see pretty much any tournament's first page. If you struggle with it, ask someone else to start you off by inserting you into the table. Then, you merely "quote" the last post with a table, delete everything but what is inside the code and /code comments and update your guy. Like falling off a small rock, daunting a bit at first but painless after you know how to do it.

Carrion vine is a 1-3 point wonder, best used during and after battles for a bit of life regen, just as you are doing. Don't bother putting many skill points into it, IIRC the returns diminish quicky.

The poison vine is only really useful as a synergy for rabies, if you're not going that route leave it well alone.

k should be in there now. as a bone necromancer. first tought about going summoner, but that would have been to easy (I think) so went for the harder bone necro.

If you think summoner necros are easy, check out the list of RIP folks at the bottom of the table of characters. 3 of the 5 are summon necros! Way more than the summoner portion of characters actually participating in the tournament.

As far as the vines go, I agree with EmperorMoo, but want to add one thing: that even though the poison creeper dies when sneezed at by a fallen, the poison mat still stays for a few seconds where it died and continues to poison things. If stuff regens quickly it is a good inexpensive helper in that regard. Plus, one less swing at a wolf does take a little heat off, if only temporarily.

I just said that summon were easy because I once did it for the fun, and stopped because it was to damn easy.

now question. I just died (sc) and was wondering if there are like exceptions to the rule. (if not just tell me and I'll start over again)
ok i was doing countess and just found a yellow wand. I killed all creatures close to me and go to my inventory. now the game starts laggin like hell and I couldn't do anything, so I try to leave. I know you can't save and exit to escape death, but well I assume you can if the game starts lagging. now because I was holding the wand I couldn't click save and exit and the moment the lag is over, I'm dead because of one archer in the corner of the "room".

now the question, because this death is because of the lag (if there wasn't any lag I would have noticed I was getting shot at), do I have to start over again?
only lvl 8 so wouldn't be such a big prob.

So I have just been playing full clear on players 8 pretty fun. Only time I had a problem was against treehead woodfist. My trapper had only level 1 charged bolt sentry at that point and no mana so i kept losing my mana and not being able to do anything. But I got by him by running around a lot im thankful for stamina pots. Anyway found a unique staff thats helpful for the mana it gives. Just finished countess and and got nothing good so I am level 15 and am about to start Tamoe Highlands and that should be fun. Hoping for level 18 before andy so I can get shadow warrior to help. Shadow master is better to get for a trapper right? I keep forgetting their differences.
