Don't expect anything from them if you try to be sane. I had my fare share from Travrunning and they don't care about reasons and probability. There were horrible dry spells when I was running for two days (around 5-6 hours of pure gameplay) and got nothing worthwile. Then suddenly you get a Ber/Jah and forget all that shit behind you. I remember a particular Sunday morning when I tried to get a CTA. They dropped me 2 Vex+Ist in 2 hours, and after that the Countess on the very first run dropped me a Mal for completing the runeword.

Long story short: expect nothing, have a movie/good album in the background and keep popping them. If you get tired, leave them alone. There is no need to be obsessive about runehunting.

P.s.: I enjoy players 8 are running much more for runehunting. ;)

Another day, another set of 100 trav runes. The curse is finally gone (1 Ist), but there was nothing else worth keeping. I see your point, I know how D2 works :D. I miss LK days, getting good runes there was extremely easier (but not doable for me atm).

For runes up to Ber LK is just so much better from my point of view. I play HC and I can't die if I'm not paying much attention (usually watching TV shows on the side) so I can do runs endlessly. (Even If I deed there are almost no setbacks as LK equipment is so cheap).

From Trav, you have to lower your expectations a bit. They're like Pindle, either they're in the mood and drop stuff like mad or they leave you banging your head after 1k runs of crap.

Travincal is area for all around farming, while LK is more focused toward runes, charms and gems (because in those LK is better than Trav, unless we include farming for Cham). My approach on Travincal is to increase my MF on barb to farm better and use most out of Travincal, currently using 221 MF on HC barb. Generally, focusing on runes as only "worth" items to farm is not a good idea cause they are rare enough to give you headache. Instead, focus on farming gems, rare rings, jewels, facets (Travincal is awesome area to farm those, second to Meph, but lolMeph seriously), unique jewelry (got like 5-6 mara's kaleidoscopes in travincal career so far?), useful unique items, rare items like boots or gloves or whatever you like to farm, and especially charms. Taking most out of Travincal is to farm most of those items as you run, and something will eventually drop. Focusing on runes is not a good idea as I said. Perhaps you will find rare ring that is worth like 5x Ber runes (well for one rare ring I gave something like Cham Jah Sur Sur or something in those lines) or also charm that is also godly. Or jewel. In general most valuable items tend not to be runes anyway.

Earlier today: "<maareek> I was starting to think your programming had encountered an error." Now I'm certain of it. Sounds like the Gripbot needs to be taken back to the shop.

On a more serious note: grip covered the thought process pretty well but just to support his point, try not to focus on running for specific things but instead aim for something you enjoy doing on its own where drops are a nice bonus. If you hate running trav, then running it for runes is just going to make you miserable and what's the point in that? If you just run trav because you want to, then gems, charms, jewels etc are all just nice bonuses you get from having fun.

Well I'm also collecting charms, jewels, rings and gold, not saying I'm only after runes, but apart from that my long term target now is to have an end-game weapon, and the only way is to farm high tier runes (yes, Cham is much needed, that's why Trav). I don't use RWM (otherwise I would already have dual grief, like my previous char) and I don't trade. This is the way I like it, so don't worry about my sanity, I can handle this. :)

That's good. Go for it then!
(I don't want to demotivate you, but someone wise once said that rarest item in diablo is the one you desperately need. No matter how much you try to farm it, you won't get it. However when you don't need it, it will drop every 5 mins)

Yes, people say that's the first rule of D2, but over the years I realised that's not true. If you're motivated enough you'll always get what you want (apart from Tyrael's obviously). See the Highlord's I was desperatley looking for just a week ago: every other ammy with the same rarity dropped before it, but in the end Meph surrendered ;) you just need perseverance, diablo-size of course :D

Do you think it was Deckard who said that or Tyrael?

I think this is quite uncommon to witness.

Non-Council champions and uniques in Travincal can drop TC87s, though they are limited to what uniques have a qlvl at or below their mlvl (which would be 84 and 85, respectively.)
