Don't Ral, Ort, and Thul also have benefits for a sorc? Granted, not much benefit, but if you look at "Leaf", it seems likely that all of the extra fire skill points are tied to the use of the Ral rune.
Ral's firey properties most surely influenced "Leaf" in a metaphorical sense. The actual modifier when placed in a weapon is added fire damage, though, and so Ral wouldn't get caught in the "nostrike" net and would be, in all practicality, useless in an orb.
If you want to expand it to sorceressy/magicy metaphorical runes, the list's gonna get a lot bigger... Eth, Ort, Thul/Cham, Sol, Vex to name a few. That makes things bad for maintaining a smallish starting-out point. Conversly, none of the runes that make "Crescent Moon" have anything (in the same metaphorical sense) to do with lightning. So, there's hope yet.
Of course, "Leaf" would not have been discovered with the "nostrike" net... ;-)
Expanding the net would also require an understanding of Blizzard's collective brain, a treacherous endeavor, to be sure (the asylums are full of those who have tried). One would begin to guess if they've made the new orb runeword a cold-themed word, a lightning-themed word, etc. Best not even to start down that road, I think.
Here's some suggestions for "nostrike" combinations that sound "runewordy" in my opinion:
KoLumIo, FalLumIo, HelLumIo
TirKoLum, FalKoLum, IstKoLum
TirIstLem, TirIstLum
FalIstKo, FalIstIo
LemIoLum, LumIoLem (it'd be cool if those both worked... like Tomax and Xamot, lol)

Realism disclaimer: I get lots less playtime these days than I used to. Maybe I can get a lum a week. I've no problem killing 8-player hell cows with my summoner necromancer (ce > cows), but, as we know, there aren't really any public hardcore hell cow games out there. Well, none that anyone in their right mind would join, heh. Last weekend's solo cows netted me a Sol (yeah, one freakin' Sol). To sum up, I've got the heart to help, but I don't have many real-life resources (beyond my invaluable ability to babble).
Cynical Disclaimer: I'm 99% sure that the 512 combinations that the nostrike runes produce will not result in a runeword, and that there'll end up being a freakin El in the mix somewhere (probably with a Cham right before it). I leave the remaining 1% for hope. I hear that hope's getting sick of my table scraps. Bah!
Hope's Rebuttal Disclaimer: 512 isn't that big of a number, if you think about it. While I can't do it by myself, "the community" could probably pin it down rather quickly. Let's hear it for 1%!!
