23 Runeword Search Thread

I'm really excited about getting into the hunt for runewords. Are there any other low level chars just getting started in ladder (I'm currently level 12)? I'd much rather level with someone else to help watch my back, especially since I'm saving skill points for higher spells and struggle at times.
ALso, if anyone has lower level gear to loan out for twinking, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm going to be on tonight starting around 9pm eastern, and look forward to an intensive weekend of finishing normal and getting as far of the way through nightmare as possible. Thanks all...

Just making sure these got through as failed:
TAL+ORT = gnarled staff
ELD+EL = mancatcher
NEF+EL = falcon mask
Well, after five freaking hours, and discovering my hammers barely do enough damage to UberClone to counter his replenishing, LiquidFury and I both have an Annihilus. We happened to sit through the same wait on the same server in different games most of the evening and past midnight for the chance. I'm not sure if it helps him as much as it helps me, but it's both our first unique small charm. Combined with the Gheed's I found originally leveling through Frozen Tundra, the Paladin combat skiller found a week ago and the offensive aura skiller just today gets my hammerdin closer to 7K per attack and keeps a high amount of MF on me.
Those shimmering grands with life I found doing NM Andy runs don't hurt either, so I'm trying to find a way to augment our search by trading items I or no one else needs for mid-level runes. This means higher MF to get more Gazes/Strings/Angels and elites, of course, so short of using the price guide in the trading forum what should I aim for first and how much? Should I flatout suggest to the member maintaining that thread to list mid-level runes certain items are worth to help out the runeword searchparty trading?

Im intrestend in helping u guys find runeword by providing runes. they will be mostly runes amn throu lum (if u want below that just tell me) and will donate in bulk, aka about 100 per donation. i will try to get the first batch ready by sunday morning at the latest.
dont ask how i get them, just know they are from hell countess or hell andy
i can also help cow, i have a bh pali or a ok java zon, 3k total dmg fury, aswell i can do fordge rushes or plain rushes, i would like to keep the gems if u dont mind, thinking about starting to craft

Cheetah - Thanks again for getting me through to act 5 Hell for the baal kill. Now in my spare time, I have quests to complete with my sorc, who is now starting to kick MAJOR Butt, but alas, she is still inept in hell cows. Countess runs, on the other hand are getting easier and easier, so I will focus on those with her, as well as ancient tunnel and pit runs. It can never hurt.
Thanks to the gentleman/Female who donated a pair of 33% Travelers to me last night. You have no idea how that now affects my drop rates, even though they are a low MF%.
Also, the D2 bug has stung me again, and the wifey is NOT impressed. :cheesy: I am in current deliberations with her in regards to this topic. LOL, she started it, she joined a paint shop pro forum, so I joined a forum, fair exchange, right? :thumbsup:
Anyways, I will start in on major countess runs in hell with my lovely sorc and start-a-runecollecting. I will be available to play hell cows whenever TEAM USWEST is on, although I do not have everyone's acct name in my friends list.

Further builds
I need to build a second character for hell transfers (more Annies, hopefully
and other than my Thorned Conformist, which is at L29, I may chose yet another Paladin build (Fist/Tesladin-style, though it requires elite items like Enigma) for better MFing or a Cryer, or a Javazon, or Bonemancer or whatever. Not sure if I'll do it sooner or later, but what, exactly, is the build you're using (list what you can but as briefly as possible so as not to deviate from the thread purpose).
Edit: this was directed at Cherokee but also applies for anyone currently starting or recently started a new ladder character on USEast.

I'm building a meteorb, loosely following Sasja's guide in these forums. I built a meteorb on west non ladder and it went very well, so I think I can do this pretty efficiently, and start being helpful in the runeword search in a matter of a week or two at most.
In about 3 hours of playing over the last 2 evenings, i've gotten to level 12 and finished the countess quest. My prize possession is Arctic Furs armor that I found in the Black Marsh. To recap, I had dug through InsaneFarmer's positional analysis to find the most likely constant runes and came up with three:
Re: Shield and helm testing grids snafu: I just noticed that I screwed up the top row (El-blank) of the shield testing grid. Because I use "N" to designate normal helm tests in the helm grid, I occasionally type an "N" for a normal shield test in the shield grid by accident, even though "N" denotes necro head and "S" denotes normal shield. For some reason, I've got "N's" on the entire top row of the shield grid, which I'm assuming is a mistake. I'm going to change all of those to "S" (a test in a necro head also covers shields in general), as it's unrealistic to go back and find test results for all those tests. I think I'll change the symbol for normal helms to "H" while I'm at it to avoid future confusion. (This is probably way too much information, but I didn't want anybody to get confused.)

Good afternoon, all. Just getting down to the wire here at work, and I wanted to Promote a question for COW KILLERS USWest. What times is everybody that is playing tonight going to be available? Also, please designate whether it will be Pacific, Central, Mountain or Eastern time (for those of us who may live on the east coast but play west and vice versa)
Moving foward, I am finding that I love this CL/Orb sorc. Solo hell is where she really shines and slays the fastest until I meet a Cold/Lightning Immune. Then it's the old 'Bout face, Foward RUNNN!!!!!!!! since my merc is just now starting to show signs that he doesn't want to die every 15 seconds, LMFAO.
To all those whom have donated for the worthy cause I say: :worship: & :drink:
As for me, you have my staff (proverbally speaking, of course) at your immediate disposal. :yep:

Sokar: Any reason we couldn't use Eld/Eth or Ohm in the "Eonar" word, as
well?
Spork of evil: No posts yesterday because the forum was down from about 10
AM until 10 PM, Pacific time. I was questing on West for about 30 minutes
around 7 PM, but didn't make it on again. I hope to be on tonight.
tlaloc: Great work on the claw grid, yet again. If you're looking for
another item type, I would suggest axes (always popular), maces (as the
most likely blunt item class), or missile weapons.

Ghist and I did some more cow runs, however pickins were slimmer than i
ever seen, 5 runs and i got a tir and shael rune, he got a few as well

something i noticed about runewords is that the order that the runes are
put in does not reflect the order that the stats appear on the runeword
i'm not entirely sure what kind of meaning this has. but it gives me the
impression that there's a pattern on how the stats appear on runewords
that is not reflected in what order runewords are socketed.
this does not help us at all, in fact it makes it less likely that there
is a pattern to discern in how runes are put into runewords, that's an
enigma in itself to be sarcastic haha. I wonder if they will reveal some
of the 23 runewords when wow comes out because that'll be a bonus to the
d2 community and won't cause everyone to stop playing d2 entirely. tho i'm
sure lots of people will switch to wow..
also, does anyone know when the ladder resets again? I'm under the
impression that if it's seasonal it'll reset in october, people on bnet
keep saying 1 more year, but then again i'm just asking random people who
probably don't even know what they're talking about.
also i'll be available for some cow runs on east tonight, i think around 6
pm eastern

Greetings and Salutations!!!!!
Tonight, although I cannot state exactly what time that I will be on, I
will nonetheless be on. If I cannot find any cow games going on from the
get go, I will consume my time doing the last part of act1 quest in hell
and then run repeated countess and pit runs to see about what I can get
rune wise.
Another gentleman posted in seperate thread about the findings in runes
after 1000 countess runs, and they are not pretty. It looks to me as
though we may have to consider to get higher runes the crafting up of what
we find, via cows or via countess. Since rune drops are being so picky and
provide very little at this time, this may be an option needing a little
more closer attention.
All in all, or worse case sceniro, whether or not we find any runewords I
have met some fantastic people over the course of the last 2 weeks, and
wouldn't trade it for the world.
All for now. Lets keep plugging away.

I had an interesting Idea that hadn't previously been mentioned in this
epic 60 page discussion, much inspired by a book series. We never
considered music.

man i need to start testing again i have been on a couple of the games
over the last couple of days. I have amassed a bunch of thuls, amns and
such for testing as well as a io and a lum. i'm srry that it's been a long
time i'll try to get on it when i get back on d2 later.

Getting close to 1,500 posts. As somebody mentioned, there's a 2,000+ post
OT thread in the necro forum, but theirs has only 12,000+ views, whereas
ours has almost 75,000 views. Hmm, which one do you think interests more
people? ;)
Ax: Sorry you're having trouble finding people. Maybe you're on at
different times than other East posters, as I'm pretty sure that Ghist and
InsaneFarmer are on fairly regularly. (In fact, see above, IF may be on
now.)

I couldn't agree more.
Ikeren: I had never noticed that, but you're right, there are some
suspicious similarities. Of course, if one were to make up nonsense
syllables for most of the letters of the alphabet, you'd have a one in
five chance (one chance for each vowel) of hitting a musical syllable for
any given letter...

i did not know you can buy them, are necro heads ever for sale?
Druid pelts were once sold by Elzix, but I believe they've been removed. I somewhat disagree on the class-specific runeword possibilities. It's likely there are class-specific--only runewords even for those helms and necro shields just as there are for paladin shields (Exile). At the same time I believe it's possible a runeword might prohibit a class-specific item to be used (Leaf). Though the odds are slim, it's better to test them, than not, just test them last and save mid/high runes for most likely items.
