1.13 LK Patterns

If there were somebody willing to program an automation/simulation to gather pattern information on drops on different settings that would be a great help, but it seems unlikely at this point.

I thought it was jjscud as well, but I'd have to dig through some threads for confirmation.
Someone did do 'testing' using dis-allowed mods/methods, but said it was for data purposes and didn't gain any items from it. He also said that it would be more fun to find the patterns instead of just saying them straight up, but recommended a certain /players setting for everyone to hunt on.

You guys are definitely thinking of jjscud. However, because of backlash against his methods during the 1.13 beta, he never (as far as I know) released actual data about the final 1.13 odds. Of course that backlash came after he was widely derided during the beta for doing what Drystan said (giving a recommendation of the best players setting without identifying all the patterns) which may have also played a part, though he also said during the 1.13 beta that he disliked how rune rich the SPF was getting, which may ultimately have led him to abandon LK pattern research.

He recommended players 5 during the first 1.13beta patch, but as far as I know never released any information regarding drop patterns after said first beta. It's possible there's a better option than p7 LK for high runes now(pX RoF, pX LK) but given how lucrative p7 LK is that's somewhat unlikely and a lower player setting would also mean less jewels and charms, which end up being the big prizes over the course of an extensive LK session anyway.

Also pulled 2 Mals before this (all are existing patterns.) Quite a weekend.

As far as the lower /p settings, I have to say it seems unlikely that lower players could be better given the current data. Before the rune increase patch, we only had 1 Ber rune amongst the 65536 drops and I think no Sur? So /p3 ended up being better due to a statistical anomaly. But now that rune drops have been so greatly increased, we have multiple Bers and many Surs in /p7-8 and we really aren't working off an anomaly now, but something closer to the average amounts. It's POSSIBLE there are more Bers and certainly more Los in lower player counts, but I'd have to believe there are far less Surs and others, so even if that unlikely abundance of Bers is true, it still may not be worth it. Unless it's at least 6 Ber patterns (seems unlikely.) Then again if jjscud was recommending /p5 maybe he saw something we aren't aware of. If I get bored maybe I'll try some /p5 runs. Most likely lower drops but I get to be a field researcher and would likely find new HR patterns. Sounds fun.

Lastly, I hereby retract any previous suggestion that my map isn't good. Heh.

In case I mucked up my phrasing in the above post, jjscud made, to my knowledge, zero statements regarding the superiority of any players setting in 1.13 final or even in anything past 1.13a. He singled out p5 LK as the best source of high runes in the first of the 1.13 patches (1.13a; which was released as a beta) but there were changes made before we reached the release version of 1.13 (1.13c, IIRC.)

If I'm still not making my point, just compare jjscud's listed finds:

Does anyone feel that LK runs break the game? I tried doing cows again and it just felt like a waste of time. Went back to LK with my LK assassin (I know it's technically not as fast as sorc, but the run/walk speed is so addictive) and found a Gul. And then, another Sur. That brings me to 2xMal, 1xIst, 1xGul, 1xVex and 2xSur. For this weekend. Not to mention the large piles of compiled pgems as well as so many charms. Madness.

I dug through all my results (no where near as nicely organized as I had hoped) and it looks I simply never looked at 1.13c. Nothing was held back, just didn't look.

So yeah, feeling the itch again. Keep thinking I should be playing D3 instead, but then I don't. I think a go kill just a couple monsters, hopefully that will take care of it.

a quick question, and I might start doing some runs of my own soon.
RoF is done mostly for ghosts (at least rune wise)?
And by looking here at the monster immunities, some blizzballer would fit best here, or prolly a hammerdin (sadly one of chars I don't own)?
I am really looking into how to increase my current rune wealth, and I will gladly take on any advice from elders

The RoF runs referred to above were popping the two superchests that sometimes spawn in the RoF (original RoF thread though all of the pics seem to be lost.) Ghost-type monsters do drop more runes on average than "normal" monsters, but they're still a worse target for pure rune hunting than LK or Travincal and are more of a happy bonus to Chaos Sanctuary running, at which, yes, hammerdins do excel.

In terms of increasing rune wealth, unless you're specifically looking for Cham runes, LK running is incredibly tough to beat, and is the go-to advice towards that end.

Only Cham I ever got was while I was doing exp/MF runs on Pindle with my blizz girl, totally unexpected.
Funny enough, I got Jah too there. Those two were almost heart attacks for me, first time ever dropped rune that high, and totally unexpected

LK was more rewarding for me with runes up to Lo (got only 1 Ber there so far).

Anyway, thanx for the info, I will look into RoF thread, and hopefully do some runs

Has somebody tried comparing the drop chance with random stashes, because my sorc has found ber, sur, gul, 3mals etc in 2 days by just looting random stashes + superstashes and only one of those runes dropped from a superstash so I'm starting to think maybe it's some kind of misunderstanding that super stashes have a better chance or maybe they just all have a pretty good chance in that area, which would make it more efficient to loot the whole place maybe.

@Amnethio There has been a rise of interest for poppables lately, see this thread for example. Remember that superchests can spawn up to 7 times more items than poppables, so it's still safe to say that you can get more runes by solely focusing on them, but hitting corpses and random chests from time to time (especially if they're on your path) doesn't hurt.
