I didn't get any more playing time in over the weekend unfortunately. I was playing windowed and would teleport with the sorc and kill with the barb. The place I needed it most was Hell Duriel. My merc wasn't tanking for the life of him, literally, and the slight lag was letting Duriel destroy me before I could get some novae off. Nova is not the most efficient rushing skill. Hopefully once the Meteorb gets better she'll be able to do the rushes in 1.09 and not have to worry about the massive deaths that the fo/nova sorc was facing.

@SQU: What tactics did you go with for your 1.09 HF rushes? I'm thinking the meteorb will be able to handle the immunities a lot better than the fo/nova sorc.

My break is March 30th to April 9th. That leaves quite a bit of time between then and now. Maybe we could set one up for the next 2-3 weeks and just say run up to X hours during that time for qualifying drops. Then later on have one where you just run as much as you want over X days.

What do you guys run Meph at? I had been doing p8 runs with my barb and they didn't take much longer (maybe 5-10 sec depending on how often CB proc'd). I'm thinking maybe scale back to p3 and ramp up the mf gear. What's your take on /p setting for mephy runs?

I find P3 to be my favorite setting for MFing. P8 can take way too long to kill monsters, and, for my WW Barb, repair costs running P8 are steep. P3 has a good jump in drops if you run areas (and many of my grailers - including Grandfather, Aldur's Deception, Tal's Armor, etc. - have come from normal/minion monsters), good XP if you aim to get a 99er, and actually helps you avoid accidently killing monsters before you can switch to your MF weapon.

Lil' D is why I don't rush with a Sorc. He's TOUGH for a MeteOrb - you have to really get those meteors to drop just right. But, my Sorc was doing what you are most definitely NOT supposed to do - running from him. If you have a good shield (Stormshield, Rhyme Hyperion), it's probably best to just stand there and static (assuming the static bug works with Duriel - I can't verify that). I find my BuriZon to be a good rusher since she can just cast Decoy and then destroy him with piercing guided arrows. You do have to run around with her, so that's the trade off. My WereBear is also a very good character for bosses (Grizzly even better than a Decoy).

A proper Nova Sorc doesn't use a Stormshield - she needs Lidless Wall to get to the 103 FCR breakpoint (assuming SoJs instead of FCR rings) and therefore relies on the hit recovery of Nova to keep her safe. I don't remember how she did with Lil' D, but I'm pretty sure she had an easier time than my MeteOrb sorc had.

I guess I'll go back to my style - I'd rather use a durable character and spend a little time finding the lair than try dealing with it with a fragile Sorc - that's just me, and I know many folks really prefer the mobility of the Sorc. Maybe I'm just not naturally good at playing a Sorc, but that's not my choice of a rusher.

Very elegant solution to for a MFO (though, Steven Q Urkel, if you are playing 1.09d, I have a closet full of Shakos and could part with one) - I'd be up for it. I'm definitely still MFing in 1.09.

My rusher is a level 86 sorc. 20 in Orb, 20 in Cold Master, 20 in Firewall, 20 in Firemaster, 1 in Warmth, and either 1 for prereqs or 0 in everything else. Oh yeah, I also have 1 in Static and Teleport, LoL. Equip is Full Tals with Frosties, War Travs, and Storm. Her rings are pretty blargh but she gets by. Only time she really is challenged is 1) Hell Duriel, since the moron dies with one hit basically >_<, 2) NM de Seis, I don't know why he is so strong but he can drain my life bulb like a Real Housewife of * insert city of choice here* can drain a bank account, and 3) Nightmare Lister and friends, if I don't remember to resurrect the Merc to tank for me. I've never really used Nova in 1.09, so I can't comment on the 1.09 Orb/Nova sorc. I'd imagine Orb/Meteor would work as well, just a little bit of extra timing delay as opposed to Firewall ( I think -- been so long since I used Meteor I can't remember).

Yep, 1.09d is the only pre-1.10 version I play, so if you had an extra Harlequin I'd definitely be interested.

Full Tal's Sorc, huh? Lacks all that FCR of the 1.10+ set - but how do you like it? Better than Shako + Skin + Occy? I've never put a full character-specific set to use in 1.09, but I have it for Aldur's, Tal's, and Natalya's (actually thinking of putting Natalya's on my Blender Sin to see how it does).

I'm amazed you found a Tal's Armor in 1.09 but need a Shako (see my PM on the Shako).

Actually I never found the Tal Rasha's myself........I got it in a trade with Jaedhann, and I think he farmed it in 1.07 at that, haha. :jig:

And I don't know if I've ever had Shako + Occy + Viperskin all at one time in 1.09. I used to have a 1.09 Occulus, but I gave it to the 1.10s sorc cause she needed it more and I haven't been able to find another one. Not that I've tried all that hard; the majority of my MFing in 1.09 is for tc3s from the durance, with a Meph kill for good measure hoping for a RAven. Essentially, I'm using Full Tals out of necessity rather than desire. LoL. Although I must admit, I do like the fact that the mask has 15 all res.....even if it is ugly as sin. :yuck:

GRAILER ALERT!!

Pindle himself provided another GRAILER (this time for my Burizon I brought out for a little running - shame to let that Tal's 3-piece gather dust) but is still being stingy with Teh Windeh.

I believe I have every piece of unique armor available in 1.09 now.

Yeah, I was having trouble with about all the same spots you mentioned SQU. I couldn't get the stun recovery lock on Duriel going, so I think that's what took me out so many times. The barb had no troubles at all though. I like having the tele for the speed of finding places, but the barb is definitely a lot better at taking out any of the bosses. I ended up using a little bit of both in the CS in Hell.

I've got the Viper+occy+peasant crown going on right now for my meteorb and it's pretty nice. Still no Shako, and I'm in 1.09b :( I think I'm going to make the switch to d though because I don't really get much out of doing higher player setting runs. The ~500 or so A5 /p64 superchest runs I did left me with no runes at all like I had hoped. Maybe it was screen clog, maybe it was the low drop rate for 1.09, maybe I just needed to do 500 more runs. But a full day of it was monotonous enough.

I've got a couple of RC's if you're looking for those, unless you're looking to trade them in the forums yourself.

Lucky man there RobbyD. I'm missing a large number of uniques from my grail... That's what that MFO will be for though! Maybe something like running a max of 15 or 20 hours total? I imagine in 2 weeks time I'll be able to get in the 10-15 range, but am more than willing to have the ceiling higher if you want the extra time.

I still need a buriza to be able to finish off my lf/multizon... would either of you two have a spare one of those to part ways with for (insert item here). I do have some 1.13c things now... Then I could go the zon route for rushing as well. I remember using a zon quite a bit for rushing back in 1.09. Man I miss JuanitaTheMaid my level 95 zon... Cleaned up the cows like they were nothing.

@cheer - if you want to switch to 1.09d, I can set you up with a Shako, Buriza, etc. Plus your Occy won't be so annoying. I don't think chest running for runes is really worth it in 1.09 - worst HR drop rate of all LoD patches - I have gotten a Gul and an Um from chests, but not near as many as I got from Countess.

Well hey... that sounds great to me! The higher player cow runs on NM aren't too bad for levelling characters who don't get rushed all the way through hell. But, I won't be doing much more of that anyways. So 1.09d sounds great to me! I'll pm you tomorrow with my contact stuff in case you don't have it from last time.

Do we want to start the timer this Friday at... noon? and go until Monday March 5th at noon? Or something along those lines. Hunt for Teh Windeh is on!!!

The best I've gotten from drops is an Um as well, and that was even on NM A5 at that.

Well, I would like to see what works with SQU, Pegleg, and any other potential participants in a 1.09 MFO. And, as a matter of experience, I received some static about scheduling a 1.09 MFO in a timeline that conflicts with the 1.13 MFO - so I suggest getting a little more feedback before inking that in. Would you like to coordinate this time? Any changes to the point system you suggest (man, it would have been nice to find that Nat's and Viel of Steel during the MFO - still would have been pwnd by the IK Armor, though).

Let me know if/when you convert to 1.09d - like I said, your Occy-wielding Sorc will much prefer that patch.

Untwinked (single-pass also?) pally. Started one in 1.13 to honor both my 1.12 lost untwinked hdin in act3 hell, iirc, and first d2 char ever. Maybe do it in 1.09 will make it a more refreshing experience.

Well congrats for joining the club nulio! I'm working on some 1.10a/s stuff right now as well in 1.09. Can't wait to start doing some HF runs and get some runeage going.

I'm finishing up a pally myself. I can say that they have quite a bit of flexibility since zeal is basically a 1-2 pointer once you get some +skills from gear. I maxed holy shock and it definitely is not working as a PI solution. At least not in the few cases I have been trying it. What is effective is sanctuary against undead PI's though. Or the classic vengeance+conviction for anything other than undead. I don't have the points left to do that though since I'm trying out a theory with sanctuary and Pindle. I figure with some massive +%ed to undead and sanctuary that Pindle will be down in no time. I have yet to get to try it out though since he's parked in A1 Hell.

But the classic zealadin with fanat only takes about 25 points or so counting pre-reqs. Holy shield only increases your shield's defense rating so the only real benefit is to get it high enough to make your block rate stay at 75%. Whatever you do for all those extra points, good luck!

I just managed to get a Buriza from RobbyD so my lf/multizon (probably with some FA too as suggested by RobbyD to go with the freezing of the Burrito) will be a killer come this weekend. She's at 39 and I've been banking stats for once I found some better gear to put on her. Now she'll be unstoppable. Titans+Burrito=mass domination! If only I had another Lidless to go with the titans, or a t-gods. In time I suppose:D

I can sponsor the whole MFO shindig this time. I'm not too worried about the flack of running it at the same time as the 1.13 one since we're probably not drawing anyone away from the other. But we'll wait to see what the others say as far as interest goes. ioupainmax responded with a busy signal, so once we hear back from others I'll get it going. I think the point system from last time is still good. Of course the awesome drops will pwn all, but that seems like the point of an MFO so it's all good. Hopefully I get some grailers this time around as last time I only got one scoring drop other than the IK armor. That sucked... Killer Burritozon pwnage omg NIC3 1!!!

Well the LF/Burritozon is kicking some major ace in NM cows right now. Almost to 60 and I'm trying to consider what to gear her up with. I don't have a lot for armors unfortunately, and with some 20 ias on the gloves her MS/GA is as fast as it's going to get. So she's got a valk wing on her head for +skills, string for LL/DR, spirit shroud for skills and cbf, waterwalk for life/dex, and sanders for life/IAS. I've been trading the lidless around between the zon and my two sorcs depending on what I'm doing. That's not fun, but it gets the job done at least. She's a total glass cannon with no points in vit, enough in str for the buriza, and everything else in dex. Her level is finally getting high enough so that she can actually hit things when she multi's. The piercing GA is so much faster still. Or some LF's take out crowds like they are nothing.

The sorc is getting better as well in the low 50's. Went through all the +skill quests so now my Meteor and FO are maxed. I'm working on FM now and the meteor is really starting to shine. I need to change the gear on the merc so he can tank a little better. I've got an eth vamp gaze on my barb's merc that I'll trade out for now and that should make a little difference. I need to make some runeword armors and that should make the real difference.

No fancy drops or anything like that, just trying to get these two ladies levelled up and ready to take on Hell.

Nothing really amazing dropping in those NM cows, except for a druid skiller. I think it was a shapeshifting tree one, but may have been summoning... FM is near maxed now and the meteors take cows out after 2 drops. The eth vamp along with the new pole make the barb survive much longer. I worked on my teleporting skills as well to pull him out once his life starts dropping. Without the vamp, he was getting taken out before I even realized he was losing life. I didn't make a smoke armor yet because I need to find myself a better base or search through my stashes a little.

Cows aren't really known for super drops, but I have gotten a fair number of grailers from them, including my first Mara's, Arkaine's, and Trang Hat. I've also gotten a Baranar's Star and Nosferatu's Coil. Best rune I can remember is Lem, though.

Since getting my Barb to level 99, I have focused on running Pindle, and found that my Zon can do it fast and clean using FA, with GA from a Langer Briser on switch. PI is annoying, but on P1, the on-weapon elemental from either Buriza or Langer is enough to take him down. Barb can do it well too, but after he horks, I find myself feeding him and the merc potions that drop quite often so that all the drops display on the screen.

Also found a nice Druid Summoning skiller (+5 Dex) and a Stormshield, along with some less spectacular drops like Natalya's armor, etc. Just working out some nice gloves to replace the LoH since she's Pindle-only right now, and I plan on some turbo Pindle runs.

Pro-Tip to cheer - get your merc engaged with cows, drop Meteor on/near merc, then static 3 time and the Meteor will take them out in one shot... on P8! Look out for Might, Fana, and Blessed Aim packs, though - they'll take him out too quick.

The result of some quality time with Pindle last night - TEH HAMMEH. One of the things I like about 1.09 is that, when you get a Legendary Mallet, you know what it's going to be.

I got my occy from NM cows when I was leveling the zon/sorc up. But that's been all the luck I've had. I'm thinking about re-rolling the map to see if I can get a larger cow farm for longer runs. I want to get into the 70's before I start tackling Hell. They're both ready to take on A5 from rushing, but I might do some running throughout with the skill quests and other things before working on MF targets. I don't have to worry about CtH for either of them like I did with my pally/barb, so that is nice.

With the way the cow packs have been coming in, I've just spammed a few meteors and let the rest walk into them. Once I hit Hell, I'll surely be doing some static to slice them down. I'm considering upping static so that I don't have to get so close. Since I'm lacking soj's and skillers, I've only got the +skills from occy, armor, shield, and helm summing up to +6. I do have a +2 sorc skills ammy but it's got a req of 67 or something like that. So it's a ways off still as she's in the high 50's.

Your second hammeh... lucky lucky man. I wonder what a dual hammeh frenzy barb would do... That flavie is much nicer than mine. I need to try running the report to see just how terrible mine is. I'll be doing some more Meph soon to get those exceptionals before working pindle for the real goods.

OT: Totally stoked because I just got confirmation for our field trip to be fully paid for! Students get into the Art Institute of Chicago for free being an Illinois school and they will reimburse us for the bus. *pats self on the back* It's gonna be awesome.

My advice to you is to get 'Smoke' on your merc before taking on Hell, and preferably with a Blackhorn's Face - I assume you have a Lum or 2 available now. Also, unless you are making this Sorc for transition to 1.10+, there's absolutely no reason not to pump Static - the additional radius has a geometric impact on AoE, and you can use the Static bug for boss running (if you're planning to transition, you will want to pump Fire Ball). Actually, on my MeteorOrb, I leveraged all that FM by putting a point in Enchant for the Merc - no AR, but at least it gave him some elemental damage.

For my Pindle running, what I didn't take a screeny of was a Warpspear drop, but looking at drop rates per ATMA, it's quite close to the rarity of Schaefer's and the Viel of Steel (all right around 1:30,000 at 400 MF), and, of course, those are right in the range of TEH WINDEH, so I'm pretty stoked at the modest but steady rate at which Pindle has been dropping.

It's quite close to my bday, and Countess gave the gift of Vex last year, so I'm very hopeful!

Got the Blackhorn's, and I've considered the Smoke but just need to do some base hunting. I believe I've got a lum or two. It seems like you might have an extra good seed on that Pindeh or that you're just really getting into the flow there. Keep it up and maybe that B-day present will show up!

The sorc is for 1.10 upping to be able to do the HF section there, but that's pretty much all I'm going to use her for once I get a big stable of 1.09 rushee's through to A4 hell. Since I'm thinking she'll be better off than the nova sorc for rushing, I'll probably be doing a bunch of stables full of 1.09 rushes with her and then move them all up to 1.10s. I'm going to bypass the 1.10a because I'll never have the time to search for the BKWB or do anything else there before working on my beta Bramble. I'm planning to eventually move on to D3 whenever it comes out and will spend more of my time there than back in 1.09 D2:LoD. So I'm trying to keep that in mind when gauging the longevity of current goals.

The wild idea to make a brand necro popped into my head since, AFAIK, no one has tried it. Sounded interesting... So maybe after everything else, and if I get enough runeage from all of this, I'll give that a shot. But probably not.
