1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

Re: 1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

Well I've never done one before either. I've got a three day weekend next week so that would give me some extra time to play unless you're thinking of just clocking time spent running instead of 3, 5, 7 or whatever number of days.

I think following the idea you had with the highest tier TC's going for the most points and work our way backward. From what I've read from the standard SPF MFO they've got some kind of spreadsheet or something with the points in there. We could use the points they have and pull all the non-1.09 items... Another thing to consider is are we going with points for multiple finds or a single highest point item find? I think they go with a point for each item found but each item can only be counted once. Thus those super rares are worth tons of points and a single drop of one basically wins the MFO. At least that was the 'issue' I read about with drops like Tyreals Might in the other MFO thread.

Either way, I'm gonna get some characters leveled up and what not so I have some options. Single target, run of several targets, or a choice of targets? Single character at all times or switching allowed based on target?

Re: 1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

I think a choice of targets (Mephy, Baal+A5SUs, Cows, Countess) over, say, 3 days might be a good first try - I don't want to make this too complicated since (a) I never time or number my runs, and (b) I'd like this to be simple enough to encourage some participation.

The relative rarity of items is significantly different in 1.09 than 1.10+, so I don't want to use the 1.13 MFO table. I'm thinking drop chances from Baal should be the seed for relative value, and the TC90s that Baal can't drop would be competition-breaking drops anyway.

The question is where to start - I'm thinking top Exceptional uniques should be the base - I'll put together a suggested point list and present it for approval.

Re: 1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

That plan of action sounds a little better. The simpler the better. I'm not going to fuss over minimal point differences just for a slight advantage. The exceptional uniques seem to be the best place to start putting points in.

Re-read your post and need to clarify my post. I'm going to skip over Mephy and probably go with the Countess or Baal+SU's to start. Are we declaring a single target for the whole time or allowing switching? If we're switching, are we maintaining one char or allowing switching based on target?

Re: 1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

I'm planning on multiple targets as well, but I didn't look at rune scores - I'd suggest Countess rarities for runes, with, say, Lum=1 to Vex=75? So, yeah, multiple targets is definitely cool for such an informal MFO.

So, I amended my thought to base scores on S/U rarities from Mephy to start, then add items Mephy can't drop with bonus scores - here's my first draft (for dicussion purposes only - definitely willing to make adjustments) - keep in mind I limited the EU's to items I thought were useful to keep the list managable - let me know what you think:

One thing I didn't do but thought about was to add a listing for selected Eth drops like Ginther's Rift, Skuller's Ire and Hone Sundan - but that's something we can discuss if you would like to add that element to the scoring.

Re: 1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

This is looking good. The bonuses start at or after the 50 point range? The super point bonuses come from the 1000+ range and those are the tc 90's that Baal can't even drop, yeah? The rune drop mechanics sound right. Are we letting each drop count for scoring or if we get multiple drops for a single item? Say 4 lum runes drop from Countess, then it will go for 4 points?

I was trying to do some leveling of my zon with my Barb and I realized how he's not exactly the best at hell cows given his gear right now. He might have those ccb's but I think his IAS is a little low or something. Once I get mobbed I can't tank the cows like I was hoping i'd be able to. So now I'm thinking I'll start doing some NM Meph with my sorc to get her leveled up and ready to do some EXP runs for my other chars instead of trying to tank with the baba.

Re: 1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

I'd say yes, 4 Lum drops (with accompanying screenies) would get you a point each for a total of 4 points.

And yes, the ridiculously high valued items are the TC90s that Baal can't drop.

I guess there should be a slot for Ohm+ as well. That will go past the TC90 values, though.

Are there any EUs I left out that you would like to see? Would you agree to 20x original value for ETH versions of Hone, Skullder's, etc.? (Items with self-repair mod)

Re: 1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

Additional plans sound good. I've been making Meph runs with my barb. Threw an eth in the ccboq and that made a huge difference in the time for the runs. Haven't really gotten any new gear that I've been hoping for. Switched out some rare boots with resists for some goblin toes to get some cb running. Also have been leveling my sorc and got her to 58 or 59. Trying to get her nova and light mastery maxed to get some decent power out of her. The 105 fcr breakpoint gives her some fast novas, but the mana melts away all too fast.

I've never taken screenies before so I'm going to have to make sure I know where they go and what not before starting these runs next week. Hopefully Mephy will cough up a skullder's, shako, or lidless by then so I can get some more +skills and mf on my sorc.

Re: 1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

All you do is hit your "Print Screen" button and it will put a .jpeg screenshot in your Diablo II directory.

Speaking of which, I'd like to share this very important Baal drop - I've been needing that belt for my Fury Druid plans.

I'll work on rounding out the rest of the qualifyer points so we can get this MFO on the road. I'll be mostly running with my WW barb (a little over 200 MF), but I might add in my Tal's 3-piece BuriZon and my MF Frenzy Barb (dual Ali Babas on switch), with an outside possibility of some Countess running with my Nova Sorc (who, thanks to said Countess, sports a nifty Ist in her Wizzy).

Re: 1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

OK, I've put together a proposed point system for runes - the seed rune is Lum, which is the first special drop that Hell Countess drops, and the values through Vex are based on Countess rates:

Code:
Lum rune: 1
Ko rune: 1
Fal rune: 2
Lem rune: 3
Pul rune: 4
Um rune: 6
Mal rune: 8
Ist rune: 12
Gul rune: 16
Vex rune: 24
Ohm rune: 830
Lo rune: 1,250
Sur rune: 2,000
Ber rune: 2,700
Jah rune: 4,150
Cham rune: 6,224
Zod rune: 25,000

I also propose 20x values for ethereal versions of the items with self-repair mods (I know other ethereals are good for mercs, but I'm proposing limiting points for this MFO to items that can be used by a main character - let me know if you would like to add things like Vamp Gaze, Duriel's Shell, etc.):

Code:
eth Ginther's Rift: 20
eth Hone Sundan: 40
eth Titan's Revenge: 40
eth Skullder's Ire: 140

If you're cool with these proposed values, now we just have to establish a starting time and duration.

Re: 1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

Everything sounds great. What you've set up so far is very well organized and I think should work out well. I've been running with my frenzy barb on meph and haven't found any of the nice uniques I've been hoping for to beef up my sorc for Hell cold caves. I was planning on using some nova's to take out all the CI's and maybe trying to trade in for an MPK ring with one of my RC's or something of value to completely remove the mana issue. She's up to 60 now and my barb is 79.6 or so. If anything I might use her for some Countess rune running and pray for a T-God's so I can run pindle with no fear of his MSLE with my barb.

I had thought about rushing a pally specifically for Pindle but after seeing how slow the levels were coming when trying to powerlevel my Zon I was a little apprehensive. Maybe by the next mini-MFO (thanksgiving weekendish...?) I thought sanctuary with my gravepalm gloves would make a pretty monster Pindle runner out of him. And IIRC courpsemourne (sp?) gives some +dmg/ar to undead as well, so maybe one of those babies can drop some time soon. Heck for that matter, after reading your Schaeffer pally post, he would probably be great for countess too. Getting this guy going and finishing my Zon are atop my next priorities after this MFO.

Re: 1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

I actually don't think Pindle can spawn MSLE - there was a discussion a while ago about that, and it was stated that monsters that don't have some sort of ranged attack can't get the Multiple Shot - I can report that I don't remember actually seeing him spawn MSLE - but he most definitely CAN spawn Conviction/LE (at which point a Schaefer's Hammer is your friend). There also seems to be some kind of bug related to him - if you are standing over the corpses of his minions, and one of them resurrects, you get a hit on your life, like a FE death explosion (it's amplified if you are Amped) - something to keep in mind.

I would be very careful running cold caves with your Sorc IF her mana bulb is larger than her life bulb, as those succubi cast Blood Mana with regularity, and spamming Nova can run through the bulb very quickly. If her mana bulb isn't that large, then I imagine you run out of mana pretty fast spamming Nova.

Glad you like the point system I came up with. When do you want to get started?

Re: 1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

Maybe it was the Conviction/LE that I was running into then. Whichever it may have been, he was sparking at me while I was trying to take him out. The Blood Mana has been an issue through NM and I can only imagine it getting worse through Hell. If I can get a hold of an MPK ring I could take my mana down by a long shot and possibly not have to worry about the curse. Maybe I've got the 1.07 sorc or baba I started in one of my backups to try and run through enough to get an mpk ring made up rather than trying to trade for one. I've never traded in the SPF to try and hold that self-found reliance. If not, then I'll definitely work something like that out for next time.

I should be able to get some pretty decent play time in over this weekend. I've got Friday off for Veteran's Day so that leaves me with Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights to get some time in. Shall we say 8 pm Thursday to 8 pm Sunday in our respective time zones?

BTW, figured out the screenies but don't have an account with said photo posting site most users on this forum link to. May try to get signed up so I can follow the same suit and keep things legit. Screenie of every drop worth points? That might end up being a ton of screenies but will verify all drops/points.

Re: 1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

MPK rings don't drop in 1.07 - you have to make them with the sapphire+thawing potion+ring recipe (I think - I'm not a 1.07 expert). You get the CR converted to MPK when MPK spawns.

I use photobucket - free signup and account. You can also use the tinypic (I think) with no signup (but you have to record the web locations). I really like screenies as a record of drops, and you really don't end up with that many if you are just recording qualifiers.

How about 12PM Thursday to 12PM Monday so I can get Sunday night in? Think we ought to make a dedicated thread to that?

Re: 1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

I had gotten a barb into A2 1.07 and rolled an MPK ring to get my sorc going in 1.07. But I think it got lost in a computer crash or something along the way. It was a good two or more years ago when I had planned on starting some rack running and LK running in 1.07. I'll have to check my hard drive and see if I'm lucky enough to have something hidden away in a folder somewhere.

I'll take the 12 PM tomorrow to 12 pm Monday. Since you've got the point layout and forum reputation I'll let you roll out the new thread for the amazingly popular 1.09 mini-MFO! Good luck and may the drops run green and gold.

Re: 1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

Well, you're a little better known around here than I am to say the least. I may have been a member for a long time but that's become a double edge sword with this completely lackluster username that I so desire to replace. It definitely sounds more official and... good... and all that stuff having a less "I'm 12 years old" name following a mini-tourney thread.

Re: 1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

Have you ever tried using the sanctuary aura while going up against any undead? The wiki says it's bugged, at least in 1.10+, so that you don't get the enhanced damage to undead, only the dropped PI resistances of undead and the KB effect. Or it's something like that. I was thinking for a pally with zeal and sanctuary running Pindle would be out in no time flat. When I looked at the skill in-game 1.09 I thought it just added a base + damage to undead not a +% enhanced damage to undead. But I may be mistaken. If you have any experience with it I would appreciate the help.

Re: 1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

Yes, actually, I have experience with using Sanctuary against Undeads. I don't exactly know it's supposed to be bugged (or exactly how it's supposed to work in the first place - I've read in patch notes that the removal of PI was a bug that was supposed to be fixed), but I can tell you how it works in 1.09.

It definitely removes PI from Undeads (and allows leeching from PI leechables) and knocks them back. What I have found is your first Zeal volley before the first flash/knockback happens has a lot less damage that afterward. It's my guess that the bonus damage that Sanctuary lists gets added to your hits, but doesn't take effect until after the first flash.

Re: 1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

Hmm... Okay. Well I just might have to try it out on Pindle's pack and see how it goes... once I get there... I'll have some extra points after the small skill point investments for a normal old zealadin.

Re: 1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

Well I spent a substantial amount of time getting my Pally going on Saturday. Playing on /p13 from the start just for kicks and has been a breeze with sigon's + angelic rings/ammy + civerb's cudgel. That +max dmg/lvl makes that a pretty decent weapon. I switched over to general's tan do li lang or w/e in the mid 20's for a damage boost but have to repair much more frequently now. Took it down to /p11 in A4 yesterday and then to /p9 once I hit some of the knights in the river of flame. I thought my resists were really decent but apparently not. I haven't spent any of my stat points for the last 15 or 20 levels so maybe some of those should start going to Vitality. I have also been banking my skill points and have ~10 free points waiting to go in whatever I decide. I just reached 30 and was able to sink a point in fanat before calling it a night yesterday.

If it weren't for those knights and their elemental attacks I'd still be going p11 or 13. The chippies dropped like rain running this guy through the beginning. I'm considering using holy shock and make a chippie runner out of the guy later on in his career. Although, I supposed I don't really need any more chippies right now having a ccboq and ccb.

Plans to make him a killer pindle runner follow: roll a cruel cryptic sword and socket with ELD runes to get some 225% undead damage coupled with a perfect gravepalm for another 200% ed. Then if he can hold out without needing other gear then an undead crown has another 50% and Garb or Light or something along those lines has another 50% for a total of 475% ed to undead. That with the additional ~750 solid damage bonus from sanctuary and a fast zeal volley will take pindle out in no time... I hope... If anything the bonus damage from fanat with zeal and the bonus %ed to undead will make him a total destroyer. Time will tell. Hopefully NM and Hell will keep up as quickly as norm has been going. already 30 and haven't touched the CS yet seems like a good start.

Also, never considered this but how much mega cheesing would it be to run LK at p64... never thought about the bonus players setting in that sense until just yesterday. definitely a little too much cheesing but you can only wonder what those drops would turn into...
