Well, now that you've leveled up to a good NM level, go see what those Tower racks look like now. Keep in mind that you can also change the item selection by taking a detour, like a side room - that's actually how I stumbled on that Gilded Shield rack.

I think that Demonhide Sash rack could have dropped you a String of Ears, but I'm not sure if the Lochabre Axe rack could have generated a Meat Scraper (but if it could, that makes a mighty fine merc weapon). Keep your eyes out for a 5os Partizan or Yari - an Honor stick is very hard to beat for a merc.

Battle Cry became a reflex for me - it's so much better than you would expect for so many situations.

I think I'll do a couple more Baal runs and hope for something to drop from him or on the way there. Another couple runs should net a couple more levels. Countess wasn't hard before and should be even easier now with my clvl up. If I'm going to run countess any more though I'm definitely going to look for a much faster map. The time spent running to the tower was time wasted.

I've been looking for a 5os stick but haven't had any luck yet. I'm even considering a 2os one for a Strength to give some ll and cb. Even though the damage would probably be lower than the savage partizan he's using now the ll will more than make up for it in helping him survive the tough spots. Was hoping for waterwalks or string but did not run that rack near enough to get anything close out of either of them. Maybe the higher clvl will get me a better base sword from the weapon racks though or a steady armor that I could use.

I'm not sure just how much time I'll spend continuing with countess because it feels like it would be more beneficial to push forward to Mephy. As nice as LoH would be for the res and ED to demons the ias from the Sander's is good enough for now. I've got a nice life pool, especially after BO, and my damage is managing quite well with the might merc following behind. Battle cry is very indespensible on those tougher mobs and makes the easy ones drop like flies. A very underated skill on most peoples plates.

Yeah, I got my Earthshifter from NM Mephy - that was a game-changer for my Barb. I used that with an Honor Knout through the majority of Hell. The chances for LoH from NM Countess are apparently pretty low - that may have been a lightning strike event for me (but he STILL has those on - they are level 44).

Just remember to run straight up the landing and jump the moat and go mano-e-mano with Mephy to avoid all the mess with the Council members. Your merc might follow if you leap twice - that's what I found, but you really don't need him, especially if you're sporting some CB.

I bounded through act 2 with little problems. My resists are holding up pretty well versus all the different elemental sources so far. The MSLE's are the only threat. The might merc is still not quite as hardy as the defiance one but the added damage helps out enough to make res'ing him a little more worth it. He is about 3 levels behind me but is hanging on well through act 3.

I had about the worst map ever for the start of act 3. I always hate the twisting and turning of act 3... jumping the river has helped instead of having to run back and find a bridge. But still, it took forever to find my way to the flayer dungeon and LK. The inferno from the shaman's does not pack near the same punch it was before. Partly I think from my 1k+ life after BO. I'm now on my way through the Bazaar and will be heading into the sewers to find that last relic before taking on the council. We'll see if my fire resists will hold up against those hydra's.

I checked the drop rates for the countess and just was not feeling it. Moving on was a much better idea because I'm not really in search of those low-mid runes atm. The lower uniques and set item drop rates are much higher for NM mephy than trying to pinch something out of the countess.

Beware the Fetish Dolls in NM Durance - my origional barb got 1hk'd by taking out a champion (I think my barb may have been amped at the time - it was before I got active on this board, so I didn't know the mechanics of all that at the time).

Ohh how could I forget about those little buggers. I hate their CE like deaths. I will definitely watch out for them. I'm looking forward to some Mephy running though. I think it will go pretty smooth with the way the rest of A3 has been going. Trav and the Durance are a whole different ballpark compared to the rest of it on the other hand. Time will tell. Those drops will hopefully be running green and gold.

Still no 2os cutlass or 3os rune sword to drop yet. Either of those could really help out quite a bit. That and something with LL for my merc to use. Maybe he'll get a strength stick for the CB and LL... that is if I can find another amn any time soon.

Was there a CRM or RRM for 1.09 that any of you know of? I know there used to be a feature like that on the maphacks but didn't know if there was an old FAM 1.09 version of any of that. I've almost missed some runes on occasion from not seeing that orange like in 1.13.

I have also nearly lost a few great runes in cows. Only on going back over looking for gems did i see an ist and a mal. One of the few changes i apreciated in 1.13 was the rune color change.

I think i can deal with looking harder for runes here though to get the good ol game i love.

Yeah, I was just being hopeful on making life a little easier for the rune thing. I haven't tried the earliest version of either of the mods yet. Maybe they would do the trick?

On the questing side of things I blasted through the rest of A3 and took both the council and Mephy out with ease. Started doing some Meph runs as I got a very sweet map. Around the first corner to the right from the WP. Takes 5 seconds to run to with the new Aldur's boots I found on my 7th or 8th run.

Did my first 5 or so runs on P1 and got a Tal Hat on the 3rd one! Too bad the lvl req is 66 on it... Can't wait to throw that baby on for the nice leeching. I switched to P3 and it wasn't much harder or took much longer. That's when I found a coldsteel cutlass for some faster swinging and nice deadly strike/slows monster. Teamed up with my strength axe for CB I now ram through P8 Mephy in ~1 min once I make it to him. I use the portal after the kill to start in A4 close to the wp and save running time, but I do buff my BO and then go back to heal at Ormus before taking on Mephy to make sure my bulbs are full. It takes a little extra time but saves me from potting that much more since I'm not excessively leeching from him.

As long as I keep the buffs up on me and the debuff on Meph I only have to use 1 or 2 pots to heal up. He's been pretty generous so far with at least a set on nearly every run. There have only been a few where he dropped all blues and I didn't pay attention to whether they were failed S/U's or not. I levelled to 48 and have been getting better exp per run now that I'm going P8.

It's pretty amazing at how some of the items seem so much greater atm than what they used to be valued to me at. A Boneflesh dropped and has given my merc some of the ll that he's been dying for, literally. Usually I would not even think twice about that armor and move on to something greater. But since I'm back to having nothing it's really nice to value some of those normal and exceptional uniques.

Yes i agree that the building up stage is always the funnest. Every ladder reset gets everyone playing again on the realms. It is also fun to try out new builds when you can twink them a bit too though. Getting your atma stash up to a decent size to equip nearly any concievable build is fun.

I am having fun harvesting beef too trying to get my first 99. still only 94 sence i took a week of and went out of town but now im back at it. Seems to do alright on exp so far but i think it will slow down considerably when i hit 95 sence that will be 5 levels over the cows. Am i right robby?

I mainly pick up flawless's and sc and Gc looking for skillers and mf or fhr or liffers or resist all etc... i have however quit picking up the large charms. I seem to never ever get anything from them, and when i thought about it, i dont remember ever hearing of anything a large charm can spawn that is more usefull then sc's or gc's. Am i right?

That's generally true for 1.09 too - there just aren't nearly the overpowered items (Buriza and WF excluded) that you get in 1.13 now. No Grief, Oath, Chains of Honor, Fortitude, etc. that make 1.13 characters so powerful. It's a very different endgame where that 3 chip recipe is really quite competitive, and modest runewords like Smoke, Honor, Rhyme shine.

Hell cows are level 90/92/93 (but the ratio of 90s to 92/93s is huge in the Moo Moo Farm). The XP slows down, but it never gets to bad - I did some testing a while back and I think I estimates the number of P8 cow runs is less than 40 to get from 98 to 99.

I, too, have stopped picking up Large Charms for the most part. I found some nice stuff in cows - Trang's Guise, Arkaine's Valor, Mara's, Naj's Light Plate, Baranar's Star, BKWB to name a few, so it's not just for the gems and charms.

You are correct, or atleast kind of. Large charm will have lover resist(shimmering) than the scs and gcs, and less life (vita) than the scs. I don't think Large charms are worth picking up.

Large Charms can spawn with the highest stat boosts per inventory slot, if you're after that. 5 to Str/Dex vs. 2 for Small Charms and 6 for Grand Charms. At least, this is true in 1.13. I assume it still applies to 1.09. With a good prefix, they can be rather nice charms:

I still haven't found a shako, but I found something much rarer when MF'ing Hell Mephisto - a Mal rune! Chances are 1:64 489 according to Atma drop calculator! I have no idea what should I do with it, but I'm still happy for finding it! My highest rune before it was Ko :crazyeyes:

RobbyD: are you sure 1.09 Mephisto is level 90? Because my p8 XP per run went from 0.75M to 0.55M when I leveled from 85 to 86. It's strange because it was fairly steady before (grew from 0.7M at lvl 80 to 0.75M at lvl 85).

Im not too savy on the technical aspect of this game, but i do know that GC's that im rolling from cows have a level of 90 when looked at through atma. The charms mephy drops are lvl 90 as well. Sence i know cows are mostly level 90 (except for unique boss cows) then i just figured mephy must be too.

To the rest of you good answers to my questions. I am not a "perfectionist" player as some that i have played with and as such it does not bother me too much to waste 10 pts on str as opposed to planning it all out perfectly before hand. So getting stats on charms is not such a big deal to me. Though i see the appeal in making a perfectly designed character for sure.

I did manage to find yet another trapper GC and another Light GC... so that makes 5 trappers and 4 lights... started making my trapasin and by act 5 normal im a bit dissapointed in its kill power.

Hopefully it gets a bit better once death trap is opened up.

Well somehow I accidentally hit normal instead of nightmare when starting a game and lost my perfect mephy map. I tried rerolling it and went with a decent one I suppose. it aggro's a couple of packs of dolls here and there and takes about 15s to run instead of the super sweet 5 of the last one. But ohh well... My drops have not been super duper since I lost that map either. I did find an IK hat, now if I could only find a couple of the other pieces. Headstriker sword was found in there somewhere and that deadly strike is very nice.

I will be working on getting to hell meph to try and get some gear ready for the possibility of the muledrafting tourney that may spring up soon. GL to the rest venturing in 1.09.

My highest rune from Mephy has been an Um, but Mals from Countess are much less eventful. I'd hold onto it if you plan to make any beta runewords - it's part of CtA. Also be on the lookout for War Scepters or Divine Scepters with +Holy Shield to make that RW in. I've never found a Caddy of any quality in 1.09.

On monster levels, I'm going off of the same observation as Enochdarg - all items from Hell Mephy show up as level 90 in ATMA, so I'm pretty sure he's mlvl 90. I don't know the technical XP formula, so maybe it's optimized for 5 over your clvl in 1.09. I do know it doesn't go completely away, since I basically ran Hell Mephy for most of the way from 98 to 99.

A little update on the 1.09 side of my JavaZon project - Blitzkrieg has gotten her level 42 gear on (Buriza, Titan's, Skullder's, skillers, Hone / Dshell / Blackhorn's for merc) and has pwned her way through the second half of Normal Act 5, going from 42 to 47 upen getting her WSK WP. Man I love Act 5 XP! I overspent the STR, but I think I'll need that anyway for the Stormshield, so it may not be wasted. I decided to go ahead and pump CS as well to do my originally planned comparison of that skill between 1.09 and 1.13.

*sigh* I dread getting that NM merc and having to level him - none of the gear on this merc will go on the NM when I pick him up. I'll have to go back to Honor Yari/Face of Horror/Goldskin for a while.

I feal your pain on the mercs in 1.09. I have completely given up on them because of frustration of getting them leveled. It seems i spend more time resurecting them and trying to get them up to a decent level to wear their gear then anything.

I decided that the time saved running with a merc is not worth the time wasted trying to get them able to run with me. It seems that each character i have can do a certain area of the game well enough without one. And after all its all about enjoying yourself in the gaming experience and for me, having a weak young idiot that refuses to listen disrupt my play is no longer an issue....

Wow.. more of a rant then i intended.

I read through your time travel zons Robby and it seems like your leaning a bit tword 1.13? I think the main problems i had with the new patch are easily fixed by playing single player instead of on BNet- ie. way to many incredibly overpowered runewords, duping, bots, and the like. When playing single player, the chances of gettng all the HR drops to make a "cookie cutter" hammerdin are slim to none. And the whole goal of the botters is gone.

The only thing missing is the comradery and the ability to trade. I have a mara's magnet in my pocket but can not get a viper or SoJ to save my life for example.

Well mephy just gave up a unique ring on 2 consecutive runs, and a third 4 runs after that. 29% nagel dwarf and 20 dex raven. I feal a SoJ a-brewwing.

Well finished up the runs for now ended up with 2 more manald heal rings. So all total 5 unique rings in half hour of mephy running. By far my best run of jewelry, too bad its not what i was looking for. Perhaps tonight.

Hah - I feel you're pain - I've gotten 6 or 7 SoJs during my 1.09 play so far - it's like I had an SoJ magnet (equipped 2 sorcs and a Necro with them) but I never, ever got a Gore Rider. If it helps, I know I found at least 3 SoJ's running Countess (none directly FROM her, but I did get a BKWB from her). I got a 35@ Skin running a rack, too.

I won't say I'm necessarily leaning 1.13 on the Zons, but I will say that, at the moment, the 1.13 is more a pure Java (with the synergized CS), and the 1.09 is more of a true hybrid (MA/GA on 1.09 is MUCH more powerful than Strafe on 1.13). I haven't gotten the 1.13 Zon to 42 yet to really compare the late Normal A5 experience - she's lvl 39 and I'm just about to make a Harmony Ashwood Bow to replace the Endlesshail to see if that's not a bit more effective. Lycander's Aim will join the Titan's at level 42 - I plan on using Lycanders/WF for mana leech when needed.

Does this mean you found a mystic Windforce? How close are you to completing your grail?

Got up to a vex rune i remember and if you snagged a wf your getting the super rares.

I wish mephy would just cough up these dozen items im waiting on so i can start running higher level areas.
