Running Nihl @ clvl 98 is scary in and of itself; CS isn't too much better (and was WAY harder before OK's were nerfed...). Merc can poof in a cloud of green almost w/o warning and you just can hear your life going down. Another reason I would never play /w -ns or sound muted.

From the best I could figure out when I've read through this thread from the beginning, Strijdje never posted a 99 thread. I think he finished the character and then quit playing D2/visiting the forums. Someone else actually confirmed that he'd hit 99.

Okay, this is little bit of an accident. IceTea is my second oldest SPF character, soon 5 years old and all. I moved her away from being my main Travi runner about a year ago, and since then she has been running CS seals (minus De Seis) every now and then. Being a fast runner, the inevitable happened sooner or later (earlier this week):

My main interests involve finding runes for the remaining Zod God sept char and progressing with the magic and rare septs. That basically means 1.00/1.07 and Travi runs in 1.13. But well, I'd still love to see an actual Zod, so why not farm the last runes somewhere where it could at least theoretically drop?

Quick look at my Blizzer's Nihlathak map revealed it was not only the fastest route (I think), but there were two shrines also straight on the way. My best skiller set being Burning ones, I respec'd her to FB/Meteor. And oh boy, she's extremely efficient Nihla runner it seems.

On top of that, these runs are surprisingly fun. And last but not least: she has Hell Ancients quest left. This will take a while with all the time travel business and septs I'm involved with but given enough time, this should be doable!

Nice! FB/Meteor is a cool choice for Nihl too, very stylish. I'm glad to see a bit more love for Nihl runs, I found them quite entertaining as well and they are surprisingly safe with a sorc once you figure out your teleport path and where you like to stand in his room.
 
I was very surprised how smooth these runs are in general. Of course the element of danger is still around but not in a way that makes running any way uncomfortable.
 
Agreed. Ones you know where to teleport and to make sure you step aside from your merc a bit, the runs are quite smooth. Knowing when to abort runs is the next step, but it doesn't happen often.

And +1 on the choice for FB/Meteor. Doing that myself with my 99er and it hits like a truck.
 
@T72on1 Yes! I did indeed remember you were running with that build in the untwinked 99 tournament, so that encouraged me to try it out myself :)

Would have probably gone with a lightning though, if my Sparking GC set would have beat my Burning ones. Joys of being a wimp and a wuss who's not untwinked :D

I even considered a Blizz/Dream zealer hybrid for P1/7 CS runs. Could be cool, but I let that be because I still want some runes! Worth a try maybe, just for fun.
 
@Grape - how do you manage that life pool? Would you mind posting your gear dump? I managed to get my untwinked Sorc up to 2500 life and was pleased (although that's because she has only one skiller, which allowed her to pack on lots of Vita SCs).

Compared to my Sin, the lower life pool definitely takes some getting used to, which I've accommodated with bailing on runs more readily, particularly if amped with scary monster rolls. She's a faster killer, but the increase in aborted runs appears likely to more than make up for faster runs.

I assume your charm set must be really good? Or is IceTea rocking some nice +life gear?
 
@PhineasB she's rocking some premium 1.07 cheese, namely Arkaine's and Shako. Then my Burning skiller set is the best set I possess, I believe.

It now amazes me even more that @Pb_pal managed the last level without deaths!

With my life and 42 PDR, things can still get hairy really quickly. I'm not maybe alert enough with such a tanky character, may give a false safe feeling I think... :p

EDIT: do you guys feel that barely any resistances are much needed down there? I guess I should rather go all 20life/add SCs. Maybe even Eschuta + facet.

Ah, 1.07 Arkaine's is definitely a difference-maker! I share the amazement about @Pb_pal not having any deaths. Eleanor had just barely over 2k life, if I recall correctly. But I've found the biggest path to safety is not being shy about S & E, and I guess 500 hit points wouldn't really alter that calculus!
