Forum Mafia - The Dark Tower Game Thread

I was thinking that the silencing may have come from a random happenstance, as Drixx did say that there would be many hidden things.

Maybe the bonus has something to do with this, as Drixx stated that the bonus is something that COULD happen everyday, as in there is a chance of something happening every day.

That's true. I overlooked that it could be riddle mechanics?

Maybe Gwaihir used an ability as mafia that caused himself to be silenced. not unheard of and if I had an ability like that I would probably use it N1 too.

But I'm kinda with coju here, what are we supposed to say about it?

This is interesting, but if this were the case would you come out and say you couldn't talk for 24 hours? I don't think most people would have noticed.

There isn't any end all be all message about it, there's just been a lot of lurking and unsubstantial posts and someone has actual game information and my first response was "silencing for 24 hours is a really weird thing". I find it more interesting then "was Sathoris bashing the newbs or not" posts.

First things first. Been following the thread, but I was silenced for the first 24 hours of the day. Not sure who or why.

o.0

Were you notified at the start of the day?
Were you specifically told about the 24 hour duration or was it a "you may talk now" kind of thing?
Can you vote?

I haven't played mafia with crawlingdeadman before, but he's seems to be acting really silly so far this game. I don't know if it's just because it's early or his play style but he seems like a possible candidate for VI. Someone correct me here if this is his usual behaviour.

As for anyone who's really stuck out as scummy so far, it's definitely thefranklin. Blatant rolefishing with a hint of subtle rolefishing as well.

The gunslinger, Roland, leans back against the large mass of a fallen tree, rolling a cigarette as he contemplates the question. Some memories were too difficult, too painful, even centuries later. These raw young companions of Ka's will knew nothing and remembered not the faces of their fathers.

Roland sighed. Even the ka-mates of his youth, who were forged by the same training and fire as he, would not have asked about Susan. These newcomers to his world, drawn by the will of Ka, didn't have enough sense to know when silence was best. Still, it was his fault, after all, for singing a song to remind himself of days long relegated to the recesses of memory, a song about a pretty girl in the window.

"What you have to undearstand," the gunslinger began, looking his ka-tet in the eyes one by one around the fire, "is that the world had not yet moved on. I was young and the tower had not yet taken root in me. The seeds were not yet planted that would grow to define the will of Ka, fate if ye ken, in my life."

"It was my 14th Summer when my father sent me away from Gilead and the danger he sensed for me there. I had unexpectedly earned my guns years ahead of all expectation, even sooner than my own father before me, and so I was sent, a wet behind the ears gunslinger with my two best friends, yet apprentices, into Mejis to investigate whether talk of suppor there for The Good Man, John Farson, be true. Along the path into Hambry to introduce ourselves to the mayer, we happened upon the fairest young maiden I have ever seen, in the years before and in the long centuries since."

The gunslinger stops, memory taking hold of him for a few moments as the rest sit in silence, waiting for him to continue. He lights his hand rolled cigarette absently and stretches out, thinking on how to tell the tale.

"We were all instantly in love with her, of course. Despite the danger to our mission and the fact that she was the promised gilly to the mayor, we entered recklessly into an affair, throwing all sense and caution to the wind. It were wrong, and I knew it. Cuthbert and I nearly came to blows o'er it, but nothing could bring me to my sense. If it weren't for that wretched witch Rhea of the Coos and the cursed pink bend, Maerlyn's grapefruit, my Susan might accompany me yet."

Roland sighs, before muttering an expletive about Ka.

"The thing to ken is that the will of Ka is always served. In my bitter heart I have long considered how I might have kept it from happening, but despite all our plans and even the intervention of unexpected allies, Ka won out in th end. The deceitful witch and the despicable aunt of her's exposed our affair and in a frenzy the town declared me and my friends traitors, and Susan a traitor for helping us."

A look of agony passes across the gunslinger's face, as he seems to momentarily lose control of himself at the memory. "Hear me well, for Ka will be no kinder to you. Many days I spent trapped within the pink bend watching in horror as they burned her again and again as a Charyou Tree. A so-called traitor given up in sacrifice to gods who never existed to try and bring back prosperity that was passing out of a world already moving on. I loved her and she was killed for it, and Ka taught me the harshest lesson of all. Love must never come between me and the will of Ka. She is gone but I still remember her beautiful face in the window ... but more often I remember her screaming in agony as she burned, crying out that she loved me over and over until death took her."

As the gunslinger finished his tale, the silence of the night was broken only by the occasional crackle from the fire. Some questions are better left unasked, and some things better left unknown, say sorry.

Pyrotechnician has been killed. He was Susan Delgado. Affilliation: The White

Day 1 has begun: With 21 players left alive it takes 11 votes to lynch and 12 votes to lock. Day 1 will end in 48 hours on Monday at 5pm Eastern

Hmm, thought there was more to the silencing in the story, but after highlighting it there doesn't seem to be. The first sentence could be something, but Gwahir's posts yesterday probably wouldn't have triggered anything. I would doubt it to be a random happenstance, but you never know.

It is possible that they story was referring to the silencing but I would definitely not discount it as an action or bonus either. For the amount of time that I've been playing, Gwai has been one of the better thinkers, so a mafia silencing him seems fairly plausible.

I agree, but would the mafia really want to quote unquote confirm him as town this early by silencing him?

Oh, hey scum. What was the subtle rolefish accusation?

The point was ten posts happened with no mention (two by Drixx). It seemed like more, but still, I find it odd that no one even comments on it as it's something I don't think we've ever seen before. My post wasn't a "how did no one know Gwaihir was silenced?!" post it was a "wow, a page of posts with no one talking about it".

That and I believe your first post of the entire game was talking about connections. Which is just so chock full of irony that it's crazy.

This game is overly lurky and I really don't like it.

It really reminds me of the Mrs mallard role from NCIS/last game. And I'm not using that to accuse him, it's just the first role that came to my mind.

We're talking a lot about the question I posed to Phil, but haven't mentioned anything about the similar one I posed to Bad Ash. What are your thoughts about that particular interchange?
I note that it's one of the earlier attempts to move away from riddle/task talk. However, I don't see the original question-that-isn't-a-question (#103) being any more accurate than random chance at finding scum (it's just too open ended). I assume you think otherwise or else why ask it?

I don't think there are any poisoners in DT...? At least off the top of my head, so I would be surprised if you dropped dead at the end of the day. That was my first reaction to being silenced for 24 hours is you may be poisoned. There has to be something else though right?

Poisoner? Smells like mentioning cult or SK. Do you expect another night kill?

Just woke up and got to work. So much to catch up on...
So you want us to lynch you? Okay, sounds good. Not.

Yes, we should help new players, but not to the point of walking them through every little detail. There is the mafia wiki and they can easily ask Drixx, as they do know him, and they have played a more simple version of mafia before. They have just as much of a chance at being scum as you or I.
There's not much chance of me being scum. Now about that chance of you being scum, well we will have to wait and see now won't we...

Lost all my quoted posts from earlier, but I found this exange to be the most interesting so far anyways:

I actualy agree with Moar. I find Saths wording to be very suspect. But even more weird is why would Sath immediately jump to his defense?

But then you go and say this Moar? I don't understand this reaction to a little pressure back from Sath. Do you think phar and Sath both mafia?
So the silence thing was from night one and only lasted for 24 hours. How odd... Like Bad Ash I'm quite surprised no one made mention of this earlier. Seems quite scummy for so many people to be working over Sathoris instead of looking at this tidbit. Again, how odd....

Blatantly subtle rolefishing isn't an easy thing to pull off I would imagine...

no clue. when these games have more then 20 people I think anything is possible in terms of multiple anti-town factions.

however, why does a poisoner have to be a separate faction from the regular mafia? what have you been sniffing to get that smell?

Where did you get that it had to be a night one action?

There is also the possibility of hidden game mechanics. Drixx seemed to be hinting that there would be some, like the bonus from twilight.
