Forum Mafia - The Dark Tower Game Thread

Are you not supposed to be helpful to new players? They don't know our customs.

Screw it. Do me the favour of lynching me if no obvious scum shows up. I'm kind of irritated at the game already and don't know if that will get better. It probably will if I get more into the game, but who knows if I will. Think I'm just irritated tonight anyway. I considered a modkill, but that might result in a no flip, so that's out of the question.

So you want us to lynch you? Okay, sounds good. Not.

Yes, we should help new players, but not to the point of walking them through every little detail. There is the mafia wiki and they can easily ask Drixx, as they do know him, and they have played a more simple version of mafia before. They have just as much of a chance at being scum as you or I.

First things first. Been following the thread, but I was silenced for the first 24 hours of the day. Not sure who or why.

Lost all my quoted posts from earlier, but I found this exange to be the most interesting so far anyways:

Are you serious? What shall you not claim then?
That's BS anyway. No host would tell you what to claim anyway.

You either slipped pretty hard or tried to bait a new player which I see as very rude.

Are you not supposed to bait mafia?

I still want to hear from cdm, btw.

I actualy agree with Moar. I find Saths wording to be very suspect. But even more weird is why would Sath immediately jump to his defense?

But then you go and say this Moar? I don't understand this reaction to a little pressure back from Sath. Do you think phar and Sath both mafia?

I think you said sath a few times instead of phar in your post.

It looks like I just disagree with you two, then. I thought Sath's play was a very townie bait to get information, OR just a joke since the majority of fake-claims should be vanilla townie.

As for being helpful to new players... I don't see how he isn't be unhelpful. BPC said it right above imo.

Oh, I'm fairly clueless about the lore too :P
I do, however, know that Roland is the main character of the series.
I couldn't help but noticing the story we got delivered the night's development in past tense.

Initial thoughts were that one of the three must be correct:
1-Roland isn't an in-game role.
2-Roland is a tree-stumpy role and therefore will be around indefinitely to recount events.
3-Roland plays a such a crucial role in the game mechanics and his survival will significantly alter it (justifying a whole different storyline).

Reason I didn't immediately say this is that it's not that important at this point of the game...I just thought it odd no one commented on the story's structure and possible implications.

Didn't seem odd to me, but I can see your point.

Story lines don't usually change due to a character death, but I could see that being the case given the way drixx has talked about the story progression in the sign up thread and stuff.

Are you serious? What shall you not claim then?

It's not rude if he's town. It is kinda harsh if he's scum though. I don't like to go after or nk new players if I'm scum. I did it in a previous game and then I felt kinda bad because they just didn't know how to defend themselves.

I thought Sath was being pretty inconsiderate. He is a brand new guys that Drixx himself (and presumably know Drixx from RL) convinced to join us, so it kind of reflects bad on Drixx. If he had tried to pull that same thing on a regular to the forums, it would not have been a big deal.

Of course I would have voted had it worked, I am not on any high road here. :)

Coju, who do you have for scum suspects?

I don't. If he was a hypothetical scum with a vig, do you believe he would shoot a scum partner?

We're talking about a hypothetical vig shot as well. Scum-Phillinnicus can name anyone and they won't drop dead. If Phil is scum, there is no assurance the player he names isn't a fellow conspirator.

Numbers, Mouse and Zauper:

Can I presume you have all played mafia games with Drixx? What does Drixx do as a player that you just know whether he's town or scum?

I've never played forum mafia before, we used to play on IRC a lot with a bot running the show. Nothing as elaborate as this, but I think I already like this better. As a player Drixx is very sneaky and excellent with orders, so it is always challenge to determine which side he's on!

Doing a vote count now. My friends are likely asking questions in the thread because I told them you guys are helpful and explain some of how the game works and the various acronyms to new players. They can come ask me but I'd prefer they ask in the game so I don't have any temptation to reveal anything to them.

Quite true. But if Phil is scum, then naming someone would draw a connection to that player and creates something that the town can potentially use to catch him. In very broad strokes I view scummy answers as those that try to avoid making connections and town answers as those that don't care so much.

We're talking a lot about the question I posed to Phil, but haven't mentioned anything about the similar one I posed to Bad Ash. What are your thoughts about that particular interchange?

Orders? Elaborate, please?

Silenced for 24 hours? That seems like something new. How did no one comment on this? And the Pyro talk has been very low as well. Very quiet, very elusive game.

I don't think there are any poisoners in DT...? At least off the top of my head, so I would be surprised if you dropped dead at the end of the day. That was my first reaction to being silenced for 24 hours is you may be poisoned. There has to be something else though right?

Who's going to comment on that? How would anyone know he was silenced?

The point was ten posts happened with no mention (two by Drixx). It seemed like more, but still, I find it odd that no one even comments on it as it's something I don't think we've ever seen before. My post wasn't a "how did no one know Gwaihir was silenced?!" post it was a "wow, a page of posts with no one talking about it".

That and I believe your first post of the entire game was talking about connections. Which is just so chock full of irony that it's crazy.

This game is overly lurky and I really don't like it.

I was thinking that the silencing may have come from a random happenstance, as Drixx did say that there would be many hidden things.

Maybe the bonus has something to do with this, as Drixx stated that the bonus is something that COULD happen everyday, as in there is a chance of something happening every day.

Maybe Gwaihir used an ability as mafia that caused himself to be silenced. not unheard of and if I had an ability like that I would probably use it N1 too.

But I'm kinda with coju here, what are we supposed to say about it?
