Grail, Astreon's and Tyrael's left - Baal or Pindle?

As I'm only Tyrael's left for my grail quest, I have a request, but only for people, who have ever found a Tyrael's:

where have you found your Tyrael's?

it'll be nice of you to say how many runs u did etc., as I'm wondering if to change a place of running. Currently I'm after ~3k AT runs with dw, astreon's, 2 griffons, coa, lash, zod, 2xLo, ohm, dancers, bane ash (hell ofc) and 2 templars, couple of others as 19abs wisp and 15cd nw (if it's of any useful info to you, at runners :)).

First one in Ancient Tunnels with your standard 600+ mf Blizzard Sorceress. Up until then I had probably done somewhere in the neighbourhood of 10k AT runs I'd think. I used to run mostly Pits.
Second one in Throne with just 89% mf from a unique pack.

Hammerdin is a very solid choice for pit runs and easier to equip+play than most other runners there.

+1 to that. I almost always use a hammerdin in pits.

1. Nice to see that sb sticks to the main question ;)
So we have Tyraels: 1 in chaos sanctuary, one in the pit, on in the throne of destruction and 2 in AT. Any other Tyraels?

2. On 98% I will switch for some time to pit/novamancer, since I've already had this char, made for fun.

I don't have an Enigma so I guess my main goal is to care about frw? I've done some research and saw that resists are neglible; fcr, since it's a novamancer without eni, too. Right now he looks like that:

Shako
DW 1/48
Bramble 41%
trang combo (gloves, belt and shield)
rings: 10fcr/21lr/29hp/78mp; 114mana/25mf
mara 28; also got 2nec/4str/16mf/28hp/6mp/16fr amu, I'm in two minds about these two
30frw/23mf/14cr/10psnr boots
4x pnb skiller, gheed 40, frw scs.

30fcr/150mf/2.1k hp/10-11k psn dmg/63frw/63fr-80cr-24lr-75psnr

should I go for boneflame, trang armor and arach, is dmg sufficient or too big? (players 3 pit). Or rather invest in some more mf?

Wow you have some of the best gear in the game but no Enigma :)

If you have a strong Zealer I would prolly run Travincal for runes, still IMO the best place to find high runes.

From what I can read, I'd swap out the bramble for ptopaz skullders. That alone would almost double your MF (didn't mention boots, so I assume War Travelers) and the %psn damage shouldn't be necessary at /p3. Since TM can only drop from bosses and champions (theoretically also from minions, but GL HF...) slapping on more MF and dropping to /p1 is better except for runes, which you also need since no enigma.

I don't have Dweb since my restart, but if I had one, I'd play around with damage and see how much I could lower it and still kill a skeleton boss with one nova. Rest of gear ---> MF (and possibly safety if high level or HC).

All of that goes towards the goal of completing grail. However, I am kind of addicted to exp, so I'd probably sacrifice MF to keep one-shotting monsters at higher players settings =)

Since TM can only drop from bosses and those don't get better with higher psettings..
You don't need damage at all, just run everything on p1 and stack MF. Use things like IstIst ali baba. Though tbh you will find more roonez at higher psettings and other stuff..

As for 80/15/5 breakdown, I think it's not too wrong. Gear, like I said, as long as you can cover basics you will be good. You don't need 1.07 prismatic glacial of GL amulet for your blizzard sorc or 40 x 3/20/7 MF scs to be most effective. Law of diminishing returns applies here pretty nicely. Map and playing skills will mean a lot more. I mean, my AT blizzard sorc can't even touch Nagisa's even if I have better gear for her. Playing skill as to spot bosspacks, knowing your map inside out and ability to recognize items worth picking etc. It comes with practice. Map is most important because you cana have best character and best playing skills, but number of bosspacks and map layout will still be limiting factor to you. 80/15/5 might be overvaluing map, fine, but map > playing skills > gear for me.

I know I'm way late and it's unlikely that Nigasa would see this, but could you say any more about Nagisa's playstyle (I assume) that's so powerful? I'm not sure who is in this youtube video (someone from the forums I assume since they make fun of bassano) but the teleporting away trick definitely speeds things up for me. I'm curious what other tricks there might be or if it's hard to quantify. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3zHcuxgVvQ

I guess I'll go for travi p8 with a novamancer to get him an eni (I miss only ber/sur since I got 2xLo and a jah) - it'll be some diversity from all this tyrael's stuff :) then - the pits with the same char. thanks for advice.

That's a fairly typical AT run. He even had some sloppy teleports. Blizz sorcs are just that powerful.

The only "trick" is to find a very nice map and get yourself used to it. Blizzard takes care of the rest. My runs were probably worse than Corr's from his video, but just the map being better shaved a lot of time off.

Aside from that, the process itself is really simple because of how completely overpowering Blizzard can be. Just make sure to mix in Ice Blast / Glacial Spike / Static whenever possible to help things along. My personal preference is GS, since that takes out entire mage packs pretty fast. Not sure how true it actually is, but keeping your enemies in motion by keeping yourself in motion seems to speed things along, as does aiming next to a boss rather than directly on top of a boss. (Map shaves off much more time than all of these combined though.)

Thanks for the tips, must say that your runs look a lot like mine. I've also found a great map...in its day AT has given me Mang's, 2x Fathom, 2x Darkforce Spawn, so I'm not complaining. I prefer Ice Blast; I used GS before I had a CtA but now I just teleport on top of pesky bosses and tank them. I've noticed as well that aiming to the side of bosses is more effective.

Generally I find that Champion packs harder to kill if I move around; for them I aim a Blizzard and then retreat and they stand around and die; for bosses I find it better to teleport around.

I renew my question (to those who have ever found a Tyrael's): where did you find your Tyrael's? where it was, how many runs have you done before, mf, player settings, char. We already have 1 in CS, 2 in At, 1 the pits, 1 in Throne.

It'd be very useful to me. Greetz :>

btw. I ve made my first sp Eni, finally.

Hi there,

A new problem: it takes about 5secs to my AT sorc to go from 2nd to 1st act (with Warriv), the 1st act is loading for a long time. Can it be fixed? Or should I create a new char? I've read somewhere that sb deleted .map file, I did it but it didn't work.

You can also try moving your screenshots to another folder outside the D2 folder. Not 100% sure about this but if you have tons it's worth trying.

Doing the map thing worked for me in the past

Thanks! removing the .map file was the thing. I've got 2 d2 folders, deleted the .map from the 2nd and voila. Now, lots of joyful AT runs ;)

What do you Guys think - to make or not to make a Doom for a merc for psn necro - pit runner? I have 2 otpions - leave him with obedience and holy freeze aura or to make him a Doom and go for defiance aura? I have 2 zods, 2 chams, 3 surs, Lo and 2 ohms, so I can afford it, but I'd rather know your opinions before investing such substantial amount of hrs. He runs the pit on players1 most of the time, sometimes on p4.

I also use an insight Iron Golem, so medi is provided.

If you ask me, Doom runeword is waste of Cham and Lo, there are much more clever uses for both runes. It is especially waste of runes if you wanna make Doom for purpose you stated. Save Cham and Lo for some better use.
Since you run Pit on low players settings, then you don't need any kind of protection against creeps, they should fall very quick. Defiance merc is very poor compared to Might merc who will assist you much better. If you really want Holy Freeze, then use HF merc for that purpose.
Since your thoughts are so defensively oriented, I guess you have some kind of survivability problems? Revive 4-5 revives, no creep will ever touch you and go full offensive.

I have some problems, especially when tele into pack of fana/mighted bosspacks, but they're not overwhelming. I just wanted to maximize the efficiency of the play all around, not focusing on def or off. I don't know how could I improve it any more, necro has 580mf, eni, so on, and nice dmg as well, bosspacks are dying nicely, but I have this surplus of hrs and don't know what to do with them :) I thought it'd be better if I make a Doom than this runes waste in stash. MErc has a Forti and nice gaza, and this obedience seemed the weakest item; perhaps I should use a might merc instead of hf? As I said, survability is not tragic, but it happens to die, anyway. but killing enhancement would be nice, thanks for pointing that :)

Edit: I didn't realize that I cannot use might merc cause I'd lose my good map then :< so I must leave it with hf or change for defiance - only options.

Yeah, loosing good map is probably not worth to buy might merc... but when you decide to roll better map, think about buying might merc then.

As for runes in stash, I mean, do whatever you wanna do with them. Some players use their runes the moment they get them on anything, some players save runes for something useful. Most efficient way is to save runes until you really need them, without making runewords you will basically never use. Think of it this way. Now you use runes on something you don't really need, and then it might happen you will want to make something you really need, but you won't have runes because you used them on item you don't really need. Having runes in stash is not bad thing, however using them wastefully might be a bad thing (if there is such thing as "bad thing" when it comes to some game).
Then again, diablo is great game for experimenting, so if you wanna try out Doom or some other runeword, go ahead. Runes drop all the time anyway.

As for your survivability problems, I don't know how much will equipment help in that matter. Best way is to learn to play necro better, so you won't have any problems. I mean, p1 should be really really easy to play with any poison necro, you just have to master it better. That is most important key to survivability AND efficient running. For example, f you take a lot of damage teleporting into fanaticism pack, then don't do it. Teleport next to it instead and LR+poison nova.
