OT: What are you listening to right now

Re: OT: What are you listening to right now

Yea, Deep Purple has made some amazing studio albums. I just have a weird affection for the MiJ album. Being my first Deep Purple album, for some reason.

With Child in time being my favorite track:)

Re: OT: What are you listening to right now

It's pretty awesome.

I don't know how much of Neil Young you have heard? But if you ever feel like experience the less known tracks, go on youtube and search "Neil Young Unreleased".

Lot's of good playlists with previously unreleased tracks.

Re: OT: What are you listening to right now

Then you should definitely check it out.

@Skjolde: scary monsters is great. Coming right after the Berlin trilogy, it's got all the stuff he learned from Eno, but without much direct input from same.

I also like the first and last teaks, plus the second one, Up the Hill Backwards, which I'd post if I wasn't on the phone just now...

Re: OT: What are you listening to right now

No matter. I linked to the entire album in my previous post.

Re: OT: What are you listening to right now

Re: OT: What are you listening to right now

My favourite by Mr Young ... crappy quality but I like this clip:

Honourable mentions go to World On A String - which is ravishingly good - and Southern Man, which I think is hilarious (and inspired Lynryrd Skynyrd to pen Sweet Home Alabama in a fit of outrage)

+1 for Bowie's Life on Mars, one of a handful of truly stellar songs he created.

Edit: Mustn't forget Alabama from Neil's Harvest album. Hilarious

I don't think this is his best album, but I have so ridicilous many albums with Mr. Young, that what I listen to, changes from time to time. Right now, if I were to listen to Neil Young, it would probably be this album.

Although just as commercial as the album I just linked, just can never go wrong with his album "Harvest" too.

Re: OT: What are you listening to right now

Good thinking Skj, I'll have to add that album to my shopping list. My NY collection is terribly light.

And thanks bringing this up, zarqu... it's back on the phone, and currently forming a nice after-lunch work soundtrack.

Haha, nice!

I'm continuing the evening with the Cellar Door Sessions. Miles, John McLaughlin, Jack DeJohnette and Michael Henderson... Aaah. I can imagine Henderson getting a bit tired of playing that same bassline every gig, though :D (The Cellar Door is a nightclub in Washington)

Re: OT: What are you listening to right now

If I'm not mistaken, that's one of the few recordings with Keith Jarrett on the piano...

probably best as late night music... I listen to it maybe 2-3 times a month at work. Good stuff.
