1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

Re: 1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

Well, the quest for TEH WINDEH FROM PINDEH continues, but in the meantime, jimsfriend was MOST EXCELLENT in crafting some 1.07 blood Giant Threshers for my Wolf (Thank you , jimsfriend!). The best 3 are as follows (I'm thinking, but not positive, that GT base damaged changed from 1.07 to 1.09, so the damage range will likely change upon conversion):

Code:
Raven Bite
Giant Thresher
Two-Hand Damage: 65 to 315
Durability: 34 of 55
Required Dexterity: 88
Required Strength: 188
Required Level: 76
Polearm Class - Fast Attack Speed
Item Version: Expansion
Item Level: 51
Fingerprint: 0x1ca3186c
+25 to Life
+225% Enhanced Damage
+327 to Attack Rating
6% Life stolen per hit

Blood Song
Giant Thresher
Two-Hand Damage: 64 to 314
Durability: 38 of 55
Required Dexterity: 88
Required Strength: 188
Required Level: 76
Polearm Class - Fast Attack Speed
Item Version: Expansion
Item Level: 51
Fingerprint: 0x55fe1fa1
+17 to Life
+224% Enhanced Damage
+45 to Attack Rating
Adds 3-18 cold damage
3% Life stolen per hit

Ghoul Picket
Giant Thresher
Two-Hand Damage: 70 to 339
Durability: 33 of 55
Required Dexterity: 88
Required Strength: 188
Required Level: 76
Polearm Class - Fast Attack Speed
Item Version: Expansion
Item Level: 51
Fingerprint: 0x69255bd0
+11 to Life
+250% Enhanced Damage
2% Life stolen per hit

I have a 1.07 Larzuk available from my Necro, so the question is, which of these gets the sox? Ghoul Picket has the most ED but nothing else, Blood Song has the cold damage for the slow and chance to shatter, and Raven Bite has the AR that could come in handy since I'm thinking 3x Shael in whichever one I go with. What do you think?

Re: 1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

Raven Bite seems like the way to go if you ask me. Gives you a little AR, a high LL which saves you a leech ring or focusing on leech from anything else (although you are using feral rage a lot with the inherent LL...) But it also has the highest +life. But, since you are using Feral, Ghoul may be the way to go. That extra bit of ED might net you some much higher damage when scaled up on the Fury. You can wear Ravenfrost for the AR you're missing and that will get you the cold damage as well without sacrificing charm space. Seems like a stronger investment in that sense?

Re: 1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

I'm realizing now that even with 35 points saved, Alaric is far from being able to carry one of these bad boys without a Hel rune. Even with the help from War Trav, TGod's, Jalal's and some charms, he would still need all of those points to hit the STR requirement, but then the 1.09 DEX requirement for GTs is 140! I'm just wondering if these GTs really will be sufficiently better than the Buriza to merit the loss of Vitality points to equip them.

Re: 1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

With wolf form and lycan are you really going to be hurting for life that much? Especially with a constant high form of LL through Feral Rage and leechable bosses? I'm not sure about the damage gain, but you could surely estimate it and get a rough idea. Use damage averages from your pally and barb's to see how he will be on par for kill speed and if the anticipated increase will be enough to make a good difference or not. Otherwise, you could always hope for a higher roll on the ED% for some other blood crafts... that is if you still have someone to make them.

I've gotten some MF runs in over a few days and have netted a couple of decent items: Ma'avina's belt, another blackhorn's, another LoH, my first lightsaber, and I think that about wraps up the higher tier of the drops. If I come across anything that I missed I'll be sure to post about it. I seem to keep getting failed sets as the money drops are going through the roof quite often. It's unfortunate that they have to fail so much:(

I don't think the issue is the damage output - the Buriza is pretty hard to beat on that, especially since it has the fat cold damage to boot - I think the real benefit would be the faster swing, especially in 1.09 since Feral Rage is so useful (Fury is bugged). My 1.09 Wolf swings notably slower with the Buriza (100% IAS w/ Sheal) than the 1.13 Wolf with the upped Ribby (70% IAS w/Sheal). Since a Stalagmite is base speed [10], I'm assuming that 3x Shael in a Giant Thresher would be as fast as that Ribby.

These GTs were actually a very unexpected gift, as WoRG has disappeared and he was who provided me with those 1.07 crafted Barb swords, so I think it would be cool to put one to use (and, really, since 1.07 Larzuk puts 3 sox in them, these are arguably the best possible weapons I can use - basically a Cruel/Grandmasters of the Leech with 3 sox).

My 1.07 Necro stalled in Normal Act 5 - I have his Larzuk available, but he's nowhere close to being a crafter.

Those are some very handy drops - keep it up!

On to some ramblings of my own:

I have a Baal SC I've been rolling for Pestilent for my hoped-for WF Strafer - thing is, I've rolled a Shimmering of Inertia (3@) - I would have to farm another SC from Baal or Nilly to roll if I keep that - but what do you think - is that enough of a keeper to stop rolling or should I keep going until I get my Pestilent?

Along with those crafted GTs from jimsfriend, I also got some BKTGs (Mythical Swords). I've long wanted to try a BK whirler in 1.09 since both of those weapons can reach the last WW IASBP (Sheal in the BKSC and JoF in the BKTG) and I have a collection of BKSCs, so I can now make one of those, but that really extends the list of potential ADDITIONAL 1.09 builds when I've really been planning to wrap up with this patch.

1. Finish the Fury Wolf (and decide on whether to get the stats to use a GT - I do already have 35 stat points put away, so I'm thinking I just might go for that)

2. WF Strafer if Pindle ever drops TEH WINDEH.

3. Cranium Basher Maul Zealot

4. BK Whirler

That's a whole lotta 1.09 still to go, and I haven't even made the cookie cutter 1.13 builds, like Fishymancer and Blizz Sorc. I also haven't really gone down the OSkill path that isn't possible in 1.09 (other than the BO from CtA on my Teslot) - I was disappointed in the Bear builds I researched, but something like a Vengeance or Dream Sorc really intrigues me.

Heck, I might be running 1.09 Pindle for the WF until TL2 comes out at this rate - then all these plans get put on ice anyway.

Re: 1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

Well, I would say reroll the shimmering. I've gotten some decent rolls on charms from non-baal ones(not on pgem rolls but from drops). So you could probably find some similar things from cow runs. If it was a perfect 5@ then maybe, but you're better off keeping up on looking for the 390 pdsc I would say. Just my two cents. GL with whichever way you do go.

Re: 1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

I rerolled, but when I got this, I really didn't have the heart to keep going. I'll just have to run Nilly/Baal for more SCs.

Re: 1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

Robby, i have a question. I'm currently level 34, just came out in blood moor in Nm. (1.09d) Using Rusthundle as weapon. Should i waste some runes for "holy thunder" or should i wait for some decent magical sword to do the chippie-reciepe with? I don't own a decent 4s scepter yet.

Re: 1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

At this point, unless you have another character in Hell Act 3 or later, you can't get the swords that can get "Cruel" in the chippie recipe. My advice would be to get to MM Countess and run her for Amn, and look for a 3os sword (preferably a Runic Sword, but I don't know if those drop that early) to make "King's Grace"... unless you are actually making a Teslot, in which case "Holy Thunder" should be your goal.

Oh ok. Well, i'm thinking of a veng-paladin but i have to little mana so i can use it propertly. So far i have put 4p in fana, 2 in sacrifice, 1 in veng and 5 in holy shield. :)

Re: 1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

You can definitely do a combo Fana zealot + conv vengeance, but I wouldn't pump sacrifice any more as it doesn't help zeal. I'd get vigor if you plan to run Countess. Pick up any dimensional blades or Runic swords you find... also look for 5os knouts or divine scepters for Honor later on.

Thank you for all these nice advices. I think i stay with my rouge.. Try to find a better bow with some more socks to put in some perfect emeralds..

Re: 1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

Rogue mercs are quite fragile in 1.09, but they are capable of the +3 skills lightning hose bug, so if you keep her, I'd highly suggest working up a +3 skills (general or Amazon) setup. However I don't think that will be a tremendous help with your Pally because Pallys have good PI solutions. I developed one with my WereBear Druid due to his lack of good PI solutions.

A Fanatic Zealot Pally will get much more benefit from an Act 2 merc - mine used a Defiance merc, and I now notice that he has higher natural resists than NM mercs, but there's a couple of places where your defense does you no good (Lister being one), so looking back, I think I should have gone with a Might or HF merc, but it's not a viable option in 1.09 to go back and replace your merc once you've advanced in levels.

***EDIT***

Just saw my post count - I'm partying like it's 1999!

Re: 1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

I recently started playing 1.09 again, and I am really impressed with my luck in the last 3 days. In the last 3 days I've recieved an Arreat's Face, a HoZ, and a Jalal's Mane. I've never looted so many class uniques in such a quick succession. I only run with 223 MF too, haha.

Re: 1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

@DeathsDawning: Screenies of your drops? Character and gear? MF Targets? Did you take up an old developed character or start a new one from scratch?

Re: 1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

I started the character about 6 months ago or so. A sorceress who is lvl 64(now 68 due to meph alone). She was going to be a tri-elemental sorc, but right now I only have FOrb, firewall, and fire mastery at respectable levels. Gear is pretty crappy seeing as it is all self found. Running with a Azurewrath/Rhyme shield on switch for MF, griz's chest with 3 ptopaz, blue rings with 12, and 15 MF, goldwrap, 35% chanceguards, blue boots with 22 mf, and a blue amulet with 22 mf. The helmet is Sazabi's Mental Sheath for the +1 skills.

I recently had to reinstall the game so that I could get a 1.06 barb going; so I only have the picture of the HoZ. http://imageshack.us/f/220/screenshot001tu.jpg/

I used to play avidly a long time ago, but lost all my old gear, and characters on a disc that disappeared a couple years ago.

I really, really wish one of those close uniques was an Occulus. :(

Re: 1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

Well, welcome to the 1.09 club, DeathsDawning! Gratz on the nice drops, and good luck on the Occy. You might try running some Countess - I found her to be a good source for Occys.

Little update on my Pindle running:

I haven't been posting a lot of my Pindle drops recently, but thought this merited posting - a TC87/TC3 Drop! That's only my second Nat's Mark. Also, a little while back, my second Green Diadem dropped. Still no Windeh.

Re: 1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

Well with all those repeated drops going on, maybe your seed is effecting drops? Have you changed your map and tried running him more at all? I seem to notice distinct differences between characters and I do think the seed has a lot to do with drops.

I don't think it's just the mf differences between characters, but the base items are different. Have you noticed the same thing when doing lots of runs? I think it's like the LK drop patterns kinda idea. This player setting gets more of X while another player setting gets more of Y. Maybe that would simply make all of the difference...

Re: 1.09 Roll Call - Goals, Progress, Finds

Well, actually, that second Nat's Mark is my first from Pindle - the other one came from the Frozen River and I think another character. The only thing I've really gotten repeated is the M'Avina's True Sight - so, actually, I'm actually pretty impressed with the spread that my Zon has gotten from Pindle - but I have been thinking about drop mechanics and I don't think a map seed really impacts boss drops (but rack drops are definitely impacted).

The way I understand it, the item type is selected first, and then the item quality. So once a Hydra Bow is selected, THEN your MF can kick in and increase the chance for Unique. I've probably gotten 8 or 9 Hydra Bows since I started running him, so I did some comparisons from the ATMA chances and it looks like it's about 1 WF for every 32 Hydra Bows at 385%MF (though that ratio is different for some other items, like an HoZ is selected for every 19 Gilded Shields, so there appears to be a dynamic I'm not aware of) - so that's actually a workable number that should keep me motivated.
