Very nice! congrats on making another character to the finish. I finally got myself a new laptop woohoo!!! Unfortunately, I ran into the same problem as RobbyD with getting 1.09 to run with trenshadow. So I'm heading to the search function to see how RobbyD fixed the problem since all my tinkering last night could not provide a solution.

I did figure out how to get 1.13 to run without having the colors glitch all up so that was nice. That led me to start RabidWolf. Ravens + poison creeper make for some killer teamwork so far. I'm hoping ravens with rabies will work pretty amazingly as this guy gets going further.

I definitely love being able to sit with my laptop on my lap! The batteries been shot on my old one for about two years and the power cord has had a short in it that kills it when you move/jiggle just a little bit. So this is like heaven! :D

Argh! I've looked up the trenshadow guide, set all my access defaults, ran as administrator, everything. When I load up the launchmodgame.vbs it shows v1.13 as the patch and crashes whenever I click on anything on the main page. So... Idk what's going on. Maybe it's because I just copy and pasted the folder from the old computer to this new one instead of doing a fresh install. If anything, maybe I'll just have a couple of different dedicated installs rather than using trenshadow. I've got more hdd space so it's not like I'll be running out of room.

Okay! I got it! Reinstalled using the discs rather than just copying over the old folder. Had to drive over to mom's to get on the internet and update the patch to 1.13c, but I added in the 1.10a/1.10s version switches to my folder as well for if/when I get to start searching for some of those beta items/runewords. Is there anything other than the +2 BKWB worth searching for in 1.10a? I know I want that Bramble, and maybe even two so I don't have to switch them around so much when I continue my poison quartet.

I've got all day/night to play since my wife drove up to Chicago to pick up her dad. She won't be back until tomorrow. So I've got the Bears game to watch, some Spartacus prequel to finish, and plenty of D2. Maybe that pally will finish hell up and maybe I'll properly finish up hell with my sorc even.

Well I spent about 2.5-3 hours running bonesaws chest and much to no avail I found nothing. Not even a set/unique! I did get a number of ilvl 75 charms of all shapes and sizes, but only one decent one. a +5 max +20ish ar large charm. I also got a number of gems. But nothing else. Highest rune that I saw drop was a shael. Now it's quite possible that I missed one because the chest was popping a very large number of drops from time to time. That made the listed drops with the show items button only show so much. So maybe, just maybe I missed something. But otherwise I seemed to have no luck. I had to of gotten in 400+ runs as they went pretty quickly. about 15 seconds when there were no huge drops to search through. I don't know how many runs people do in LK before finding something, and that's with multiple little chests and poppables as I understand it. With the single chest maybe I'm at a disadvantage? Ohh Idk. I just feel the need to see it through a little more, like your quest for the vex RobbyD.

So I started in on the Countess for a bit and got a Tals orb. That ones a first for me. All that's left is the armor and ammy and I'll have the full set now. However, I don't see that one coming any time soon. I quit running her because my lightning resists are a little too low to stay close enough when she's LE. I did run some cows and got to 67 so I could equip my +2 sorc skills ammy finally. That made the killing go that much faster for her.

The pally also made 66 and started using his cruel mythical sword for some decent damage. The holy shock hasn't been working quite as well as I'd hoped for the PI's. And with the new laptop the function hotkeys keep going off when I try to switch skills. I have yet to figure out how to turn the "function" setting off while I'm playing so I can easily switch between skills.

Gratz, ERayz! I've never really dabbled in Classic, so I'm impressed with people who have the patience to do so.

@cheerupemokid10 (can I just call you cheer?) - gratz on getting your install to run - I assume you found the help you needed, as your solution is the same as mine.

Running Bonesaw's chest is not something I've ever tried, but given that the max level from chests in 1.09 is 75, so you can't get the really sweet drops - things like Tal's Armor, Scheafer's Hammer, Windforce etc. can only be gotten taking out monsters. I have gotten a Gul from a chest the the Countess' Tower, which was a superchest, so your theory is probably right - but HR drop rates are really prohibative in 1.09 - you would probably be better served to farm the Cow Level, as they have the best drops from any normal target.

About 1.10a and 1.10s, 1.10a is worth doing because (a) Andy's an easier kill in 1.10a than 1.10s because most of the monsters around her die when she dies, and (b) BKWB has +2 skills and Nosferatu's Coil has 10% life leech in 1.10a. Frozen Orb also works more like 1.09 than 1.10s. I think I might have an extra Reaper's Toll in 1.10a, which makes a MAJOR difference in merc durability. Keep in mind, though, that I don't think Gheed's is enabled in 1.10a. You WILL have to mule with the multi-instance though - ATMA doesn't allow you to mule in 1.10a.

Holy Shock (and Holy Freeze) got serious buffs in 1.10+ - I don't think they are really great options in 1.09 - a better approach would probably be using Conviction + Vengeance (though I used Conviction + Zeal with a Lightsabre to great use). Of course Sanctuary is the aura of choice for PI undeads.

I leveled Blast a little, from 68 to 78, and almost 79, might go for 80 before getting back to LoD since I'm kinda pissed that I can't find any decent sword for my Classic Barb, Stomp.

I MPd with a friend this week-end, andI decided to restart my Necro, since he was terrible. Since I HATE running out of mana, I decided to build a low vita / high energy nec using Bone Spear, Revives, Amp, lower Res, poison Nova and a tank Fire Golem, hope he's gonna do any good.

Since I lost my LoD MFer, I never did any MF in expansion, but yesterday I decided I would run meph in order to get some new MF gear, and once I got what I want, I'll start a new MF sorc (dunno what kind of build I should try, any suggestion?). Well, first I had to roll a decent map for Meph. He dropped a Highlord's Wrath after 3-4 runs ! This means I have now four of them. I don't know if it's tradeable for Cat's Eye, but that would be interesting.

My Assassin wears Highlord's cause back when I built her, I wasn't aware of the Mastery bug. So that's pretty much why I need Cat's Eye. I also tried running the cows with my Assassin, but she can't do much in P8 there, she blocks like, all the time and she can't do anything when in the middle of a Hell Bovine pack. I might restart her, but first I must find a good build so she can actually do something in the cow level @ P8

Same for my Barb, he survives very well in P8 cows, but it takes forever to complete a run ( ~40 mins ). I thought about building a frenzy barb instead, but that won't be before I get another very good sword ( either Lightsabre or GF ). But as I think about it, My GF is Shael'd, and not Eth'd, can this cause me any problem when using Frenzy at higher level? I mean, instead of using Eth in swords, I used Shael most of the time, and used 2X Ravens for the AR and the Dex, dunno if this is nearly as reliable though.

Yeah, the holy shock thing is rather unfortunate :(. I should still have enough points to get some going in vengeance and conviction to make a dent in those living PI's. I think I like the switch to cows a little better than running that chest. At least I'm gaining some experience while I'm running through there looking for items/runes. And the Countess is easier now that I threw in some resists. I have no more fear of the LE unless she's got the conviction aura present as well. Sadly, she does spawn LE quite a bit and that seems to take her lightning resists up quite a bit making her take that much longer to kill.

@RobbyD: Cheer's fine with me, or I've used the acronym cuek a few times as well. Since my nova sorc is running cows pretty well now, I might make another one to up to 1.10a to find a couple BKWB's and then to 1.10s to start farming runes for that 1.10s Bramble. Would I be better trying to cube runes from the countess in 1.10s, running LK and cubing there, or making a Council running WW barb with hork? I wish I had internet at home so I could self mp and maybe speed the process up just a little bit. Do you have to multi-instance for 1.10s as well? or just 1.10a?

@ERayz: I'd suggest shopping a colossus blade from A5 Larzuk and then rerolling it in the cube with the 3 chipped gem recipe. After a stash or two... or maybe three... of chippies you'll net yourself a cruel with some massive damage. Assuming your using WW? throw an eth in and check the weapon speed calculator for how much IAS you need to get to the next BP and add sheals accordingly. The eth makes a huge difference as you automatically hit on every single attack. you can then change out all your other gear that was helping with AR for damage, cb, resists, or whatever you need. But if your GF is already filled up like that, then keep running it the way you have been and get all the AR you can take. I did notice a pretty significant difference before and after using the eth'd swords though.

For your asn, try using cloak of shadows along with your attack skills. You will probably get mobbed a lot less that way as the monsters only attack when you reach their vicinity. what attack skills are you using? tiger strike? if so, you need that time to be able to charge up and shadows will give you that missing crowd control. I don't think the frost attack with the third Pheonix strike charge freezes them for long enough to be an effective tool unfortunately. Mind blast is also pretty helpful to stun them, and there is no time penalty applied to stun in nm/hell so it runs the full time unlike frozen.

@ERayz - the only real cow-capable Sin I'm aware of in 1.09 is the Blender Sin - I matted one, but you need a level advantage for the Blender effect to work, and my Sin is like level 83 - I don't have the patience to get her to 95 or so that she will need to be able to Blend through the level 90+ cows - but there might be something to be said for freezing the cows with the third charge of Pheonix Strike if you can get good at getting that to proc. Are you using a Shadow Master? She's known to cast CoS and MB quite often.

What kind of Barb are you cowing with - my WW Barb can clear out cows much faster than 40 minutes and is actually better at it than my Frenzy Barb (though my Frenzy barb does just fine and has actually gotten some sweet drops from cows, he takes longer to clear it out). On swords, I think you can get a superior sword to Lightsabre with the 3-chip recipe - Champion Swords have [-10] base speed, so if you happen to roll Cruel with leech or speed, I bet you can get to the same speed with a much harder hitting weapon. Heck, even a plain Cruel Champion Sword can take an Eth and 2x Sheal and be quite the weapon! And, of course, a Doombringer is a very nice weapon.

On your GF - if you are using it for WW, I would have waited to get a Ruby Jewel of Fervor because that hits the same breakpoint as a Sheal (I have a Realgar Jewel of Fervor I've thought about putting in mine, but I'd really like to go full Ruby if I can find one). [-10] hits the second to last BP, so a Doombringer + GF with RJoF would hit that - I've thought about trying that out against the 1.07 crafts my WW barb currently uses.

@Cheer: Yeah, 1.09 Countess is LE VERY often, but never LI. She is, however, often PI, which results in a very challenging kill at times.

Nova Sorc for running 1.10a Andy? I would highly recommend a MeteOrb to take advantage of Andy's FR disadvantage. Since, in 1.10a, most monsters around her die when she dies, dropping Meteors and/or spamming FB kills her very quickly, and you can ignore all the other monsters. I did a 1.09 MeteOrb (Occy + Shako + Stormshield) built to the 1.10 guide by Sasha, including the synergies that do you no good in 1.09, but she was a-ok for 1.09, did cows very well (you have to get your Merc tough enough to tank though - Hone Sundan + Gladiator's Bane + Vampire Gaze worked for me), and got to level 99 before I converted her to 1.10a for Andy running. I also procured a 1.10a Reaper's Toll, which is invaluable as well, and Andy running on P5 was not an issue. Right now I run Andy and Mephy cuz I like the idea of getting more Reapers as well as cool things like Kira's, etc. that Andy can't drop.

I would suggest HF rushing for your 1.10s rune needs, but if you do it with a MeteOrb, I suggest you do it in 1.10a since FO works better in 1.10a - keep in mind though - you will need the ATS app because (a) it's the only external way to look at 1.10a character inventories, and (b)1.10a runes poof when you try a direct conversion to 1.10s (though 1.09 runes are fine -> 1.10s, some charms and most rare jewel poof as well, where as 1.09 -> 1.10a is fine, and ATS reportedly lets you get from 1.10a -> 1.10s with no poofage). Now 1.10a Bramble has 100% enhanced poison damage (which is already much better than the final 25%-50%), but 1.10s Bramble has a range like 67%-210% (I may be off on the exact figures), so it can be HUGELY better, but with the gamble that it might be not as good as 1.10a Bramble. Oh, and one thing I forgot - you can make a 1.10a-only CtA (same range of BO as 1.10s) for your Sorc with no need for the Ohm - it's worthless past 1.10a, but makes your 1.10a Andy runner/HF collector MIGHTY tough to kill. I forgot to mention that my 1.10a Sorc also has that.

Crescent Moon and Delerium are the same 1.10a or 1.10s.

Hmmmm - putting your GF to use! I really respect that! Well, here's my assessment and comparison to my barb:

WW Breakpoints - relies on on-weapon speed ONLY and a GF cannot hit the last speed breakpoint. It's also a huge jump - 6fpa to 4fpa. My swords are not chippie rolls, but rather 1.07 blood crafts (traded from WoRG) - the difference isn't enormous, because they get 3 sockets - my CB has EthShaelShael, and the HB has Eth and a RJoF and VJoF - to hit the [-35] speed breakpoint... but getting that last BP pops your damage/time enormously!

You are going 1H+shield - that greatly reduces your damage output and the safety of a shield, from my experience, is not needed. Much more useful would be leech. That's the beauty of dual wielding - you can have a nice mana leech off-hand weapon and never want for mana, and dedication to life leech in the rest of your gear. A Doombringer or Cruel Champion Sword (the [-10] speed hits the 6fpa BP) plus that GF would be my recommendation. A whirler's offense is his best defense - lots of leech and hit them like crazy.

You DON'T want a RF, let alone 2 RFs. You want leech, resists, and AR from your rings, and being cold actually HELPS a whirler - your hitting speed doesn't slow down, you just glide through the monsters slower, hitting them more.

Charms - a couple Pestilent SCs (include my precious Pestilent of Venom) cuz poison works great with a whirler - lots of skills, AR, and filling holes in resists.

He runs with 75/75/82/75 resists and 200+ MF (400+ MF on Ali Baba switch), and a Might Merc with Hone Sundan, Blackhorn's Face, and Gladiator's Bane.

I pumped Sword Mastery, WW, Berzerk, and BO, with 1 point in Iron Skin/Nat Resist, Battle Cry, and am pumping Shout with my last points. I picked Zerk to deal with PIs, and I maxed it so it rocks!

I don't know exactly how long it takes me to clear Cows, so I'll time myself on a P8 Cow run and see (without horking, as that will of course add to the time needed and is competely optional)

I think I get it... I never thought about using two weapons with WW, lol. I think I'll roll that CB I bought yesterday until it gives me a Cruel one, regardless of the suffix. What should I put in it? Eth Shael Shael? I don't know if WW will take the extra speed into account since GF will be slower. If it only uses GF's speed, maybe I should use Eth Shael PSkull for more leech.

This is great since I had to find a Stormshield for my Druid, now I can just give the one my barb wields to him :)

I THINK, but I'm not positive, that each weapon hits independently, so if your second weapon hits the [-35] BP, it will function that way regardless of the main weapon. Since it's a CB, if you don't get lucky and roll a Cruel of Swiftness or something, yes, I think EthShealShael is the way to go.

Stormshield for a Druid, huh? What kind of Druid are you planning? I've gotten my 1.13 v 1.09 Druids (they are Wolves) to Normal Act 3 and my project is really starting to roll. I experimented with an Honor Battle Scythe at level 27, and was very impressed with that! Actually - that reminds me to update that thread.

Well I just may start mfing mephy a little bit with my baba then to get some gear ready for a 1.10a sorc. I've made a couple of meteorbers before and think that will be a fun next build to do. Then I'll be able to use my 1.09 sorc for rushing to hell and the 1.10a sorc for Andy running and the HF drops. However, I do need lots more gear to make it a real possibility. Were blizzballers good in 1.10a? I'm only wondering because of how much easier it might be to do mephy runs with the blizzard/moat trick rather than spamming meteors if I also go on the hunt for a Reaper's Toll and those other upper S/U's from 1.10+.

What is this ATS app? (Is it something I shouldn't be talking about in the middle of a forum post...?) Some kind of beta muling tool or an add-on to atma/gomule?

I read the PD increase for the 1.10s Bramble and I think you're right with the 67-210. It's quite a bit more than any of those others. And, I just found a blackbogs sharp while running the Countess so I think the poison clouds are calling across the board. Ohh how I can't wait for finals to be finished tomorrow and to be on break to resume all of these wild pursuits. I'm procrastinating grading the stupid things as I type...

Wellllll - you don't need to farm a Reaper's if you're willing to trade for one from somebody that has one available :whistling:

ATS is sister app to ATMA IV and, to my understanding, can be used to convert from 1.10a to 1.10s (get it? 1.10A To 1.10S?) without poofing, as that was a major problem when 1.10s came out, apparently (I wasn't in the know at the time). My main use for it is for reviewing inventories and for readouts (it's the only way I know of to get the fingerprint of an item in 1.10a), as I've not actually used the conversion. It's hosted alongside ATMA IV in the linked website.

Blizzballer? Well, Fire Ball synergized by Meteor and pumped by Fire Mastery is plenty strong in 1.10a, but I really don't know about Blizz - the thing is, 1.10a Cold Mastery works like 1.09 Cold Mastery (% reduction down to 0 CR) but actually starts at a lower percentage, so Blizz is very likely weaker in 1.10a than 1.10 final+... but it may still be strong enough for effective Mephy running in 1.10a, as my pure MeteOrb doesn't have a problem with Mephy. I don't really use Meteors as much in 1.10a as I did with her in 1.09 - I still use it to start (Meteor - static - static - static), but I alternate FO and FB after Mephy's down to half life.

My druid is a fury druid, but I want to use Baranar's Star + Stormshield. I had a level 80 druid built the same way before I lost it due to my Hard Drive, and he was doing fine. Baranar's Star helped me dealing with PI and attacked really fast with a Shael in it. As like every meleer I made, he used dual Raven Frost for Attack Rating and that 200% bonus to attack rating from Baranar made its AR over 13K. He had over 3K damage and over 5K life in wolf form too IIRC. Only thing he lacked was DR since I didn't have Stormshield back then, he was using Tiamat's.

My current Druid also has Ribcracker in his stash, and I want to try this too. That 50% crushing blow looks good, but it's not as good in P8 than it is in P1, especially in hell.

@RobbyD: At first I thought you were trying to make me feel stupid... but then I looked again and had the big Aha moment for the acronym. And as for the Reaper's... we'll have to set up some kind of bargain! I'm not sure I have anything that you are lacking other than say... that IK armor? Seems to probably be the only thing that I have that you're missing. Let me know what you might be looking for and I'll see what I can scrounge together. I could always cube up some Pgems since I've picked up plenty of those lately...?

That really stinks about the cold mastery not being fixed yet, but I'll take what I can get. MeteOrber it is then! Or when I get around to it :scratchchin:

OT: As for these finals... It's pretty shocking how pathetic these kids are doing on them. Nothing over a C so far and I'm ~half through this first classes. It's so simple and to the point; plus we reviewed everything and I practically gave them all the answers during the review. Shows how much they listen/care. Ohh the apathy...

Well I've been working on self rushing a sorc so I can level her up in cows today. I forgot how long it takes to self rush :P. It's almost more of a pain than what it's worth. Got through nm and went to try and do some cow runs and thought I'd pump up the players settings to get the experience faster. Well... that was a terrible idea because I went way too high and couldn't kill anything. And now I just feel burnt out for the day. Switching back and forth and back and forth. blargh! As much as I've been looking forward to break and all the D2 time, I feel like I need some time away before I lose interest. There's so much I want to do and not enough time to do all of it. I'm getting impatient at the slow pace I'm progressing to meeting all those goals. Maybe I just need to do some work on that poison quartet for a few before delving any further into all the 1.09, .10a, .10s stuff I'm sweeping through my head.

The pally has been slow going through A1 but is doing better with his slightly different gear. He's at the inner cloister and getting ready to head through the catacombs to finish out A1. It should be a pretty easy go, but for whatever reason he is still seeming to be extra fragile. Maybe it's just that I need to get used to having less def/health as a melee character like my barb had.

I didn't do much lately, I only tried to roll a Cruel Colossus blade in the cube. And after about 120 chipped gems, still got nothing good, closest ED enhanced I got was like 54%. My sorceress is level 87, so I don't see why I couldn't roll a Cruel Colossus Blade.

Well it doesn't go off of your clvl, only the ilvl and qlvl of the item you're rolling from. Any colossus blade that's been shopped can roll a cruel. Take your sorc back to norm and do some runs through act 1 just about anywhere to get some more chippies if you need them. It really does make for an awesome weapon once you roll one as much of a pain as it might be to get it initially.

FML, after about 180 chipped gems, I finally rolled a Cruel Colossus Blade of Measure... Cruel rolled at 201% !!! That's funny.

Anyways, I've put Eth/Shael/Shael in it and now my barb uses it. He can finally do the cow level in a reasonable time, even in P8! Only bad thing is the repair cost which is about 1K per durability, meaning it's just a lottle bit more than what the cows drop, so I have to sell stuff after finishing a run, if I don't wanna go bankrupt lol.
