OT: Loving the SPF

Re: OT: Loving the SPF

this is why there are so many different sorts (alcohol)... but I am always down for trying a new alcohol.

and of course you water/ice melt your whisk(e)y... it releases the bouquet & enhances the flavor, not to mention easing the 'bite' a bit. Unless you are doing shots, that is, but shots are better made of vodka, schnapps, or tequila imo. (yes, I did say I didn't care for tequila earlier... its a love-hate sort of thing... I love tequila, but it makes me hate myself, usually, the next morning.)
Top part why I started drinking more. So many varieties. Beer vs Coke/pop/cola for you yanks and midwesternYanks: Coke/Dr. Pepper/Sprite/Pepsi so forth, only really 5 or 6 good ones. Beer has 1000's of variety. 1000's. Then there's the different types of hard liquors, all there sweet delicious goodnesses that have already been described.

Didn't know about the italicized part. Knew it was easier to drink 5 mins or so after making it.
Every experience with Tequila is simulateously great and terrible. I also agree to the love hate relationship

Ohh tequila! I enjoy tequila. A lot. "I like it a lot" (Tom Hanks).
Yes, love/hate. LOVE the way it makes you feel. 14 shots or 6 shots, same headache the next day / 6 hours later. So, because of that, I've had to put my tequila lover aside for the time being. Although, being here makes me want to fight that demon again and get me some lovin.

Re: OT: Loving the SPF

@Zemaj: We don't get Hurricanes we get Tropical Cyclones :p.

On a serious note TCs are only really in the North of Australia. I think you would be safe in Brisbane and you are definitely Safe in either Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide or Perth.

no cakes. I get cyclones you get baloney.
nevermind. i am fail.

TC's have the potential to hit as low as brisbane but bery unlikely. the problem in brisbane is all our water channels that way. look at the floods at the start of the year.

Yeah I know that is the main problem with Brisbane. My advice would be to avoid Queensland, its not like you are missing anything :p

Re: OT: Loving the SPF

you are missing corax. and corax is all.

darwin is supposedly being added to the top 30 places in the world to visit in 2012.

i would visit hahndorf and get garlic sausage. then beat cakes to death with it in adelaide

Re: OT: Loving the SPF

We (Melbourne) occasionally have 40-45 degree celcius temperatures sometimes. And severe bushfires. It is a very dry heat though, with usually low humidity compared to Queensland. That in fahrenheit is 104-113'ish. And we get pretty cool nights too, but nothing compared to places where it snows/blizzards.
I don't think it was last summer, but the summer before, it was pretty bad temperature wise. I'm not sure how that compares with other parts of the world though.

Nope on the Guinness black lager.

Re: OT: Loving the SPF

yeah down south gets the big firestorms. give me a cyclone over a firestorm anyday.

the part of qld i'm in is actually pretty good. it sits in the 30-35 celsius range even in summer, humid but anything approaching or over 40 is rare.

Re: OT: Loving the SPF

On beer, has anyone tried the new Guinness black lager?

This sounds like the worst beer ever.

It's 'ale' or nothing for me ('bdum-tish!), in case anyone's buying.

In get back to the OT, this is a damn good forum, not least as it's all about feeding our mutual addiction and there's no "l33t" talk, nor is silly, peurile behaviour tolerated.

Oh, and if there's no ale, there's always:

Drink of Kings, my friends, drink of Kings.

edit: there was supposed to be a .jpg of a lovely cup of tea embedded in this post, but tragically there was a fail. But you get the idea. There was even a little biscuit balanced playfully on the side of the saucer *wipes tear from eye, stands and salutes*

Re: OT: Loving the SPF

But for flavor sake, a well aged Single malt Scotch cannot be topped.
Truth.*

But yeah, the SPF is cool. Without the SPF I doubt I'd have had the motivation to pull many heroes through hell and spam about them here some time ago.

*: Now look what kind of post made me de-lurk. What does that say about me?

Re: OT: Loving the SPF

I thought that was his sig. Thought, "does he always put *'s in his posts?"

Re: OT: Loving the SPF

@corax and zemaj: this is just the sort of thing I'd expect from a pair of dashed colonials. ;p

edit: even by English standards I'm considered a hard-core tea drinker. Usually about 8-10 mugs a day, minimum.

edit2: all this talk of the nectar of the gods has made me thirsty: kettles ahoy!

Re: OT: Loving the SPF

OK, I was trying to resist posting in the latest spam-thread

But since it got AJK to delurk, I guess I'll have to post...this forum is absolutely awesome, after all, even if it is apparently populated by lushes (and tea drinkers...)

Bartender, I'll have a single-malt on the rocks...got some catching up to do, apparently...

AJK, my #1 project currently is a min-damage avenger inspired by your Rainbow Warrior...he's working out VERY nicely!

Nice! I've found out that a min-damage avenger requires some careful jewel hunting and the ability to stomach single-target attacks. I'm looking forward to reading more about him.

Warning! Some single malt drinkers will hunt you down and mock you when you add rocks to a single malt (or anything else besides a few drops of imported Scottish Highland spring water).

Maybe it's time for a separate thread about booze? Or should these liquid sins not escape the confines of this one?

Re: OT: Loving the SPF
