Ravenwood Retreat Mafia Game.

Re: Ravenwood Retreat Mafia Game.

Does anyone know if Feysal said anything odd before he said he had his post restriction? Is there any chance it is a mechanic of the game? I highly doubt it, but am curious if anyone noticed something different because I did not.

Leo missing is also odd, I thought "jailkeeper" things were for overnight safety and not day safety?

Re: Ravenwood Retreat Mafia Game.

Regarding Feysal, my guess is that we have some sorts of bully role. A role that has the ability to poison a target that dies eventually. Similar to the infecting magog role I had back in my first game I hosted. It allowed Marahumm to infect 1 person each night. If infection was a success, the target would die in two days time and Marahumm would gain 1 extra vote power. This role could either be another anti town faction itself or it could be the ability of one of the mafia members.

Regarding Miss Leo, I believe that she's been kidnapped and maybe we must do something to free her?

Re: Ravenwood Retreat Mafia Game.

He said with a nervous chuckle... Trying to distance yourself from something?

Yes, I'm trying to poke gentle fun without actually hurting her feelings. Also, enjoying the irony of my complaining about spam in a post that was, actually, spam.

Re: Ravenwood Retreat Mafia Game.

Although, now that I think about it, being abducted has at least kept her from roleclaiming today.

Re: Ravenwood Retreat Mafia Game.

First off sorry for the late return at the end of yesterday my loopy boss at work called a meeting at 6pm so I got back an hour late ... and I see we have some information now

Dead Feysal - I'm going to check any interactions when I get time to see if any clues are there or if its just random luck, he did seem to think he was going to be back today so his poisoning was not explained fully to him obviously.

Due to isolated electrical problems with the door locks they were stuck in their rooms until the problem could be remedied.

You find that the door to Leopold Stotch's room has been forced. A survey of the room reveals signs of a struggle. After searching the room thoroughly, you're unable to find Leo or any other clues as to what happened to her.

When you reach Laarz's room, it's in stark contrast to the scene you just left. To start with you need one of the waitstaff to open the door. Looking around Laarz's suite reveals it to be in pristine condition. It's then that you see Laarz sprawled out on the bed, it appears that he's been strangled. You notice an open window, but a 5 story drop to ground makes it hard to believe that anyone entered that way.

When we get the intro and ending to the day I'm always of the opinion that the game host tries to get in some clues or things to think about here's my read on what Uraj has said:-

Electrical problems with the door - pretty sure this is "game" speak for mafia activity the death of Laarz occurred I would say when the doors were locked he was most probably townie but again previous posts will need to be looked at to see if anything stands out

From Leo's part of the story its obvious she's been taken I'm going to have to familiarise myself with some of the non obvious roles in mafia - but no clues were left and we have no clue if/when she'll return

Laarz death - pristine room, strangled with an open window drop of 5 storys - why would Uraj put this in? Flesh out the story or maybe its a clue not sure yet - (yes I'm thinking along literally as I write this!)

Should Leo pop back in suddenly, we'd have no recourse but to lynch her just to be sure she wasn't recruited.

So if Leo returns your first course of action is to lynch her!?!
I personally would want all the information she has on what happened to her and go from there

That's a very good point.

Well it seems Noodle's up for a lynching pretty quick if she comes back and you agreed with Caluin rather quick for you....

Re: Ravenwood Retreat Mafia Game.

Thinking about Leo missing and signs of a struggle in her room, and Laars dead in a pristine room . . . If this were real life, I'll bet the police would hypothesize that Laarz came to Leo's room (to investigate? to kill?) the two of them struggled, Leo killed Laarz, and then fled. I don't know how that would work within the game, though.

I wouldn't say it'd be my first action, but there's no way to tell for sure without the lynch. Obviously you'd want as much information as possible before doing the deed, but lynching is one of those most sure ways to get solid information. No matter what her explanation for the disappearance is, you can't tell if it's a lie or not without the lynch.

Seems pretty basic reasoning to me. Protecting your new-found cult buddy, Ivan?

Re: Ravenwood Retreat Mafia Game.

First topic of the day (for me at least) is Feysal.

Posted at 16:52 yesterday:
My voice seems to be weakening, meaning I have received a post restriction. I do not know how or why, but I was notified of this about an hour and a half ago.

I'll round to 17:00. An hour and a half earlier would be ~15:30. Is it a coinkydink that Uraj posted at 15:33? I'm leaning on no coinkydink. I feel SOMETHING happened but I'm as yet unsure of the details.

There are a large number of scenarios that fit the facts we have in evidence.
1. Feysal could have been infected N1 and the poison took time to incubate or whatever. It would neatly explain the lack of N1 kill. If this scenario is true, the I believe that Feysal was infected by mafia.
2. Feysal could have been infected during D1 and was notified when infected. If so, it seems fairly accurate to say the infecting happened before Uraj's #118. If this scenario is true, then the infector could be mafia (delayed kill for certain hitman?) or could be a SK - a kill at the start of N2 isn't terribly different than at the end of N2. We still would need to keep track of the N1 kill reasoning.

Word of warning: The above are my thoughts at the end of day yesterday after seeing Feysal die. The events of this morning's start of day have not been incorporated yet.

Re: Ravenwood Retreat Mafia Game.

Ankeli has informed me that he will be on a cruise and probably unable to post until Sunday.

I'm taking this to assume Ankeli will be AFK from the game till Sunday and this isn't part of the story or game events.

You find that the door to Leopold Stotch's room has been forced. A survey of the room reveals signs of a struggle. After searching the room thoroughly, you're unable to find Leo or any other clues as to what happened to her.

No blood, body or signs for a death. Hopeful but leaves a lot of questions. I notice Leo isn't listed among the living. A protective jailkeeper, as some have speculated, doesn't normally remove one from the living list. I'm leaning on something less positive for the town.

You then return to the lobby with more questions than answers.

Either Laarz killer can fly, or there was no forced entry. Who else but Laarz would have a way to get into Laarz room without leaving a trace? Oh look, the waitstaff did...

Re: Ravenwood Retreat Mafia Game.

5 story drop to the ground . . . anyone else watch the Wire? Remember Omar's leap to freedom in season five to escape the ambush Marlo's folks set for him?

Re: Ravenwood Retreat Mafia Game.

So... what happened to this being a 'vanilla' game?
It's not Lord or the Rings or Saw or Super Troopers. It's closer to Vanilla (Ice) Mafia or Copper Canyon (Wild West). In our games, a fictional theme is usually called vanilla.

The poison thing bothers me. I don't think I've ever seen a case of someone dying at the beginning of a night phase (excluding the lynched, obviously).

Speaking of Wild West... The Copper Canyon game was FULL of daytime shootouts which often resulted in death at the beginning of the next night phase.

I wonder if it's a prolonged night action for a serial killer?
A prolonged serial killer night action killing Feysal would mean the SK worked night 1. It also means the mafia N1 kill question remains. If poisoning is a delayed night action, I believe it's caused by mafia and not SK.

I have a bad feeling it's going to happen again.

If a post restriction and subsequent death happens again today, then we have 3 events to account for. Either 3 night events or 2 night events and a daytime event. Counting a lynch, that would result in 4 players leaving the game every 72 hour day/night phase. We may see poisoning again this game, but I would be really really surprised to see it today.

Re: Ravenwood Retreat Mafia Game.

Would it be a good idea to ask anyone who has been poisoned speak up as soon as possible? Sure, it would take 1 post from their allowed quota (assuming they will get the same restriction as Feysal). But it would give us more time to figure things out.

Re: Ravenwood Retreat Mafia Game.

I count 8 players who didn't change their randomly assigned votes yesterday. Those players essentially didn't vote D1. Only five are among the living today. Continuing my tradition of early D2 pressure for D1 non-voters, I'm looking at Noodle, ThunderCat, CoolguyBad, Krazeyivan and Valhauros. I ask each of you: Who among you is the weakest link and needs to be fired from Ravenwood?

Re: Ravenwood Retreat Mafia Game.

Please allow me to answer your question with another question, Goryani.
Do you think it would be a good idea to start a lynch on those who haven't voted on day 1? If so, why?

Also keep in mind that the only valid options for a lynch yesterday were myself and Marhaumm. With Marahumm claiming cop and me being mostly a substitute just for the sake of a lynch(at least that's how I see it).

Speaking of Mara, why aren't you on his tail about possible lynches today? You pressed him the most yesterday to lynch, and then immediately rescinded as soon as he claimed with that caveat. I'm still thinking you are a good lynch target today until I see otherwise.

Re: Ravenwood Retreat Mafia Game.

I was never "on his tail" as I explain in a few posts from yesterday. I honestly believe his claim and I'm sure that as soon as he has a viable lynch target he will post it.

However, since you reminded me of Marahumm. Marahumm, you did not specify a reason for voting for me yesterday. Could you give one now please?

Re: Ravenwood Retreat Mafia Game.

Ok, so wait. So in addition to cults, people can be kidnapped AND there can be day kills?

Alrighty.

"Leo!! LEO!! Where are you?! HERE KITTY KITTY KITTY KITTY!! HERE KITTY KITTY!!"
LOL, sorry. ;)

So, Jailkeepers are known characters, what kinda attributes do they normally have? Anyone know of other likely possibilities? I'm inclined to agree that if this is a recruitment ploy, it's pretty ham-handed and unproductive. I get why she wouldn't be counted as living though because that effects the number of votes needed to lynch and she obviously can't vote or be lynched in absentia. She apparently must not be dead (yet), because she would have just been listed as killed, wouldn't she? As for getting her back, I would think we'd have to get whoever has her. Also, do you guys think mafia would really benefit from kidnapping instead of killing? It feels like a good clue to me that there's a 3rd faction involved.

And Laarz. What? Did he even post yesterday? I thought I saw at least 1 post of his, but he was basically not there. Why would anti-towners kill someone who was barely there? Heh, I was trying to lay low, good thing I didn't lay TOO low!

Feysal. Ok, he was obviously killed, I guess that means a day kill or some delayed kill from mafia or sk. Here I thought we were having a lucky start yesterday too! :( We go from everyone alive, to Gorny (mk'd), Feysal, and Laarz dead, and Leo gone.

Wow.
