Considering that there are at least 6 known power roles (one dead) and very likely 2 or more copies of those power roles out in the wild, and really, after all game mechanics are said and done, the single penalty to the town is a 25% lynch fail, the mafia MUST have more than just a NK ability for town to not be overpowered.
What more convincing do you need ITY?
This requires the mafia to have additional power roles above and beyond the night kill. So do you think this game has a very powerful mafia then. The town is after all facing NK's and game dynamics which penalize them aswell.
If his action was the night kill he would surely be fully aware that it had suceeded.
