This to me suggests the exsistance of a cop.

Unless the scout can bring them back into town aswell as stranded townies, this however strikes me as underpowered for the town as he/she would have to out themselves to expose a mafia, losing our key role.

That's possible, ITY, but not definitive in my mind. Look back at post #3, where TC tells us that there are four citizens in the town. The fact that mafia members don't count as citizens could mean a cop, or it could mean that if the town already had four citizens in it and the scout brings a mafia member into the town, the daily summary TC posts would still indicate only four citizens. Given the specialized roles, I don't know that we can assume there are also the traditional roles in play.

Just a heads up guys, the 48 hour mark is coming up fast. I know we are getting 72 hours for the first day or two, but we can't become complacent in this. Every day without a lynch statistically hurts the town. From what I count, there are only 3 or 4 lynch votes in a game of twenty-two people. For two days worth of posting, that is PATHETIC.

My scum meter has Sathoris, Ankeli, or Zhao_yue as possible scum, though Zhao is not top of the list for me. Also krazeyivan is being suspiciously absent from the fray, he has posted very little, and the last game I played with him (even though it was over 2 years ago!) had him play a similar way and he ended up being scum. I'm kinda throwing his name out simply because of the lack of posts, and no real incriminating evidence.

My intuition says either Ankeli or Sathoris are scum, and the other is just mistakenly following the other's false lead.

The majority of voting tends to take place in the last few hours of the day now, I guess nobody likes to stick their neck out too early in the day.

As to your suspisions, I tend to agree that Sathoris and Ankeli are standing out at the moment, their "lets not talk about the game, lets scum hunt", how can you scum hunt if there is no talk......

Way to put words in my mouth there. I've said "let's play it like a normal mafia and not get tangled on the setup" and you rephrase that to "let's not talk about the game"? Wow. I'm going to

My question for you is, why would any scum in their right mind do such a move, perfectly well KNOWING that it attracts attention? Which is the number one thing you'd want to avoid. The reasoning behind these scum listings of me, and Sathoris, feel weak and ultimately misguiding.

You're also posting lists of peoples post counts in a way that screams "Hey look at me, I'm contributing, these guys aren't!" and that's really nothing but a mafia tell. I'm not convinced yet though.

I'm all for the game-mechanic discussions going on here, it's good to clarify these things early on, even if much of it might end up being pure speculation.

I had though this would contain more role playing to be honest, but guess it mostly just falls onto thundercats hands in the write-ups. Since post #7 no one has really explained their situation, though guess that's a good thing since the mafia will have a harder time choosing their target.

The theme and flavor mostly happens in the write-ups and the special powers of the players. During the day, it's mostly a he-said-she-said, blatant finger pointing, and wild speculation bonanza in an attempt to draw clues from people's posting habits to finger the mafia. If people were to roleplay, they could easily give up valuable information to those who would do them harm. So unless you are constrained by a role's posting requirements, are are trying to pass on a a not so subtle hint for someone to pick up on, you typically don't role play.

I'm excited to play my first game of mafia in two years, and I am filling in for a co-worker for the next week in a job that I thought was going to be demanding, but ended up giving me lots of free time to post.

You want us to ignore game mechanics and focus on....what exactly? aside from you and Sathoris, there is very little else to chatter about other than figuring out who the game will work. The only other person I was thinking of being scum was Zhao, but he never pushed back against my accusation enough for me to think he's being defensive. you an other hand, are being extremely defensive. Even more so than Sathoris, who I had pegged at being more mafia than you.

The more you post, the more I feel like you've got something to hide.

As much as I love me some lynched Noodle, this really stood out to me. Why would you post this which is pointing a very large finger at something that no one else would have even saw?

I have no idea what your post is even referring to, but the fact is you think Ankeli is some power role and then made a point to make a post that points a big glaring finger at it :scratchchin:

Since Ankeli says he didn't role hint, I'll explain. In pst #106, Ankeli says, "I'm swearing by Hippocrates . . ." The Hippocratic Oath, of course, is made by doctors. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hippocratic_Oath for anyone unfamiliar.)

It appeared to me that Ankeli was role claiming or preparing to role claim as a doctor. On day one. This seemed like a HORRIBLE idea to me, and I was baffled why an experienced player would make this move. Still, it seemed prudent to me to at least let him know that, if it was indeed what he was considering, perhaps he should think it over.

That's the extent of it. He says he wasn't role claiming. OK. I find mentioning the Hippocratic Oath even in passing to be risky behavior, but that's up to him.
