Two Questions on Crafting Caster Amulets

Hi all,

Currently, I have a good stock of P Amethysts, Rals and Junk Jewels and I want to start crafting amulets to get those coveted +2 class skills/20fcr amulets.

My two questions follow:

1)I want to be able to use every gambled magic amulet to craft. Meaning I want it such that every magical amulet I gamble has an item level of 90(to have a chance to generate the +2 class skills upon crafting). What level should my gambling character be?

2) Assuming all magic amulets I am crafting are ilevel 90, what level should my crafting character be to able to have a chance of generating a +2 class skills on every single craft?

I have looked around for some time looking for these answers, but what I have read thus far were either differing versions from different people or complex formulae which have succeeded in muddling me further.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Re: Two Questions on Crafting Caster Amulets

If you gamble and craft amulets with the same character, you will need a L93 one for 100% certainty on an ilvl 90 amulet at the end which is the prerequisite for having a chance on +2 to class skills.

Re: Two Questions on Crafting Caster Amulets

Character level 93 will be enough if you use that character to do the crafting.

Worst case item level for a gambled amulet with that character will be 88 (93-5). But if that character crafts such an amulet, the resulting item level will still be 90 (88/2 + 93/2).

However, if you also want every gambled amulet to be item level 90+ (in order to always have a chance to gamble a magical '+2 class skills of the Whale/Life Everlasting' or something, or a sweet +2 skills rare), your character needs to be level 95.

Re: Two Questions on Crafting Caster Amulets

Also don't get your hopes up on getting a 2/20 unless you're feeling really lucky - you'll be looking at an average of a couple hundred (thousand if you're really unlucky) of crafts just to find one for any class let alone one of your desired class.

Re: Two Questions on Crafting Caster Amulets

Thanks Krishan and jiansonz for the responses!

I do have a level 93 character now. Meaning if I gamble and craft amulets with him at the same time, there is a 100 percent certainty of me having a chance to get a +2 skills crafted amulet everytime? Am I right to say so?

Looks like I was confused earlier. I thought that you will need a magic amulet with ilevel 90 to in order have craft ilevel 90 crafted amulet at the end.

@scoobs haha yeah i know there are people who crafted for the entire ladder without ever getting one. Oh well need a 2druid/18 and 2nec/15 for my pvp guys for now so yeah gotta start sometime i guess :p

Yes .

Re: Two Questions on Crafting Caster Amulets

I thought it was lvl 94 but I guess these people are right its lvl 93. Advice: make sure every monster you kill for the magic ammy is lvl 86. Look up monster lvl on the battle.net site.

Re: Two Questions on Crafting Caster Amulets

Here are some character levels needed to always have a chance of +2 skills when crafting amulets, if the input amulet comes from different sources:

Hell Baal: 82
Hell Diablo/Nihlathak: 86
Gambled amulet from a clvl 95: 90
Amulets from hell Duriel or boss/minion in lvl 85 areas: 92
Self-gambled amulet: 93
Pindleskin/mob or hell meph: 94
Any amulet from lvl 85 areas: 96

The Arreat Summit only has the monster levels correct for normal difficulty, IIRC.

yup.

be prepared to WEEP when you get a +2 Pally Defensive Aura/20fcr ammy. :whistling:

Re: Two Questions on Crafting Caster Amulets

What's the difference between?
Gambled amulet from a clvl 95: 90
Self-gambled amulet: 93

Re: Two Questions on Crafting Caster Amulets

The difference is that you need a L95 character for the first while it's just a L93 one for the second. The formula leads to the same result, but with different input.

Re: Two Questions on Crafting Caster Amulets

Gambled amulet from a clvl 95: 90
Self-gambled amulet: 93

The first is for the gambling itself - in order to get an ilvl 90+ amulet on every gamble (these can have the +2 class skills affixes), the character needs to be level 95 or higher.

The second is for gambling an amulet, then crafting it with the same character. Worst case scenario for a clvl 93 character is that you gamble an ilvl 88 amulet. This can not spawn with +2 class skills, but if that character crafts it, it will end up at ilvl 90, which is high enough.

The main difference is about the potential for the amulets that end up being rare (yellow text) in the lower end of the ilvl scale. Or if you are interested in a plain blue '+2 class skills amulet with good suffix', like FCR, 'of the Whale', 'of Life Everlasting', etc.

Re: Two Questions on Crafting Caster Amulets

Reason I wrote it is because I used to just pay some gold to a high level buddy to get amulets he'd gambled but otherwise would have resold to gamble more. I'd pay 10k a piece (was lvl 89 at the time) for amulets that would normally sell for 2k gold.

I only did that for a short period while I was tired of leveling.

Re: Two Questions on Crafting Caster Amulets

I would do neither part of that business. With only low level characters I'm too stingy for crafting and I'm too lazy fto keep and sell gambled crap amulets at the time I have high-level characters. Maybe it makes sense with a trustful friend, so you can enter the same game and the one gambles and drops crap results which sell for less than 10k while you pick them up and store them or craft them away immediately.

Whatever, l I usually sell all crafting runes and use up all gems and skulls for rerolling Baal GCs without making a difference between them. Crafting pays off less than rerolling GCs IMO, but maybe I never tried hard enough :azn:.

Re: Two Questions on Crafting Caster Amulets

Interesting statements here...

I am lvl 93 with my Necromancer now, And i do as you said in the thread here.

1.Gamble amulet from Anya(the lvl of the amulett is often from 4-73)
2.Craft with in the cube

And now too the boring part: I have got amus with NO skills at all ! and some only 1 skills how is that possible ?? I am 93 now. According to krischan all amulets that is crafted by a lvl 93 char should become 2 skillers ;/

Re: Two Questions on Crafting Caster Amulets

You misunderstand. What he said is that every amulet you craft has a chance of +2 skills, not that every amulet will get +2 skills.

In your step one here, you are confusing item level [ilvl] (which isn't displayed ingame, on any item) with requirement level [rlvl], which is displayed for any item with rlvl 2 or greater.
