1.07 News, Info and Gossip

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

Ok, here is what I'm using(I reinstalled, and even installed it on another computer, still no go..maybe I am messing something up)

Great hauberk(normal)
perf.emerald(or a flawed)
magical jewel
Po rune(Io)

Vampirebone Gloves(normal)
perf. ruby(or flawed)
magical jewel
shae rune

Maybe I messed up the recipes?

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

Here is the error! You need to use magical items for all the recipes except weapons (any will do). Took me a while to rack ~50 of magical greater hauberks :) And I still have very little greater blood gloves, guess I have to improve my goldfinder and play him more as I think gambling is the best way to get those.

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

I recently fired up 1.07 and read that the bloodgolem / ironmaiden bug worked in 1.07, so I started an IM/BG/BSpirit necro that's currently in a3 normal. I only just got bloodgolem a short while ago and havent done a lot of testing yet, but it seems the bloodgolem is pretty underwhelming and dies occasionally to physical attacks even with several points in BG/GM/IM. So I just wanted someone to confirm that the BG/IM bug works in 1.07 before I waste more time due to a misinformed source ;p Thanks

Edit: Just ran some travi and my golem can tank all the council members without taking a scratch, so I guess it works and he was just getting attacked by ranged/elemental attacks earlier!

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

Has anyone been able to use Trenshadow's Version Switcher with windows Vista?

I installed it, but the scripts don't seem to work correctly. game.exe starts but then dies after a few seconds.

Edit: I also don't have any trouble running 1.12 normally after trying to run 1.07 with a script.

I'm guessing that it has to do with permissions, but I'm running as admin and I can't see any way to specify that the script should be run as an admin.

Edit: I guess it's a moot point. My laptop doesn't have an optical drive, so despite the fact that I can install from an iso image using Daemon Tools, the game complains about the cd when it tries to run. Does anyone know how to get the game to run without the cd in 1.07?

Well.. I had 1.12's no-cd feature installed, and my 1.07(and all other versions, for that matter) now never asks for cds either. But, I do use multiple installs instead of trenshadow though..

I don't see how that is possible. The no-cd feature is having all the .mpq-files on the harddrive AND using the .exe from 1.12. Even if you have all the .mpq-files, all previous version require the cd. Trenshadow requires the CD, and so should multiple installs.

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

On the Mac, running old versions (1.00 up to 1.11) still requires the CD even after 1.12 is installed (separately.) I don't know if it works the same on DOS.

I've had separate installs (one 1.07, one 1.12) and it did not work the way you describe. The cd was required.

I have an ide to usb converter, so I should be able to play 1.07 with a cd using that (if usb cdroms are recognized by d2).

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

That might have something to do with the fact that I didn't do separate install via CD installation. What I did was copy the whole 1.12 folder to a new folder, rename it 1.07 (and 1.09, 1.10 for other versions I play), then replaced most of the .dll files with a 1.07's .dll files (the method given on the time traveler guide). I think somehow it still keeps the installation data of the 1.12, and it doesn't ask me for cds.

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

Hmm if Udgard's 1.07 works without CD im guessing its because he copied his 1.12 folder and replaced the necessary files instead of doing a fresh install (I need a CD for 1.07 aswell).
Anyways a short question... DO JEWELS EVEN EXIST :P?! Heard they were rare, but currently in act 2 NM without a single jewel having dropped yet...
Edit: Hah beat me to it yourself

Thanks, I'll to see if I can get that to work. I've read that thread before, but a quick search didn't find it. Do you have a link?

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

The link is here.

Note that the link to the required 1.07 files are broken, so you can either copy the one you have from your current 1.07 install (if you already had one installed xD), or like me((if I remember correctly, that is), simply copy the required .dll files from trenshadow's files. I think I copied all .dll files from the trenshadow files instead of just the files mentioned on the guide there, just to be sure that I don't miss any necessary files.

Jewels do exist, but they seem to be much more rare than on 1.12.

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

Neither do I understand the details =D
But it works for me, so I'm not complaining for the convenience =)

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

I tried copying only the few files listed in the guide and also copying all of the files in trenshadow's files. Neither works - both complain about the lack of the cd. You must be doing something else.

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

HMm.. I'll check around again, and I'll post here when I find something that I think might be the cause.

Edit: After comparing my 1.12 files with my 1.07 files, all the dll files are replaced with the 1.07 files (2001) as in the guide, but it still has the 2005 .mpq files there. Are you sure that the 1.07 folder also has all the .mpq files required for no-cd feature? Hope this helps =)

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

Hi everyone. I thought I'd digress from the current discussion of version-switching going on in this thread and share my experience having just recently restarted v1.07...

A few months back, my 4-y/o Dell computer started acting up. After wasting months of my life trying to fix it, I decided to scrap it and build my first computer. On June 21st I fired up my brand new $350 rig running an Intel e5300 dual-core chip (my first ever dual-core), 2gb of RAM, a 250gb H/D, an 8600GTS (my first graphics card), and Windows 7 RC-7100 (my first non-XP o/s). And of course, the first program I installed after booting up (besides Avast) was D2:LoD v1.07.

After installing D2, I grabbed a memory stick to copy over my old 1.07 save files, ATMA, Hero Editor etc, but decided against it. This, I decided would be my chance to do something I had never done before: play through all of D2, brand new, clean, legit, untwinked, w/o any help of any kind from anyone or any 3rd party program. And thus, UltimateBadness the CM/FO/Static/Warmth sorcy was born.

Within a week (I work full-time!) I had defeated Normal Baal using absolute garbage gear. I was level 27 and had 259 life and 52/45/75/61 resistances. On July 4th, I defeated Baal on Nightmare at level 48 with 512 life and 71/75/75/75 resistances. Through both Normal and NM, I completed nearly every quest and way-point, and almost always in order. After doing a couple NM cow games to get to an even level 50, I set off for Hell.

Obviously, having CM/FO combined with the unfairness of static, teleport, and the Big Purple Potion trick, Hell wasn't much of a match... even for an untwinked sorcy rocking a Bramble armor, Beauty helm, Ancients Pledge shield, and a collection of underpowered blues, rares, and lower-formula crafts. At level 63, I finished off Baal with relative ease. I say “relative†because his magical fire-mana drill killed me twice before I figured out the perfect distance to static/static/static/FO (and repeat). I only had 722 life and resistances of 75/51/75/28 when I finished off Baal to complete my first ever untwinked Matriarch. And I did it all without much more than the clothes on my back (thanks to rolling non-ATMA).

I have yet to find a single decent unique, rare, or magical item, and my crafts have been disappointing to say the most. In fact, I'm still using a FCR, +2 static orb and a terrible rare belt. I did get one happy surprise though, when I went to do my first LK run and discovered that my default Hell map has a 100%-stable Shako rack about 10 feet from the WP, with three super-chest rooms w/in a tele or two. :jig:

So now I'm off to rack myself a Harly, stockpile some gambling gold, and level up via cows. My goal is to get to 75 or 80 by the end of the weekend, at which time I will have my four main skills (FO, CM, Static, and Warmth) all maxed. I think at this point, I'm going to continue on untwinked w/o ATMA until v1.13 comes out. If the rumored “upgrades†in 1.13 look appealing, I might give it a shot. If not, I might just keep leveling UltimateBadness until D3 comes out to see if I can get past level 90, which I've never had the patience to do in 1.07.

Cheers! :coffee:

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

Necromancy time!

But for a good reason - asking a question :)
Is there anyone with a 1.07 razortail that can confirm that wearing this belt with 1% pierce would make any projectiles from arrows to sorceress spells pierce 100 % of the time. I suspect this as so far any value of pierce gives me 100% pierce - zon`s skill or one of the missile weapons with piercing attack used by sorceress.

I`ve been discovering many interesting features of 1.07 lately that I haven`t read in this thread yet, but I should probably write them down as I`m forgetting them too fast :(
the most useful that comes to mind right now is - Crushing Blow SCALES with players and IGNORES PHYSICAL RESISTANCE, even if its more than 100%.

Getting to know all this my bowazon (might as well use javazon which would be more HC friendly but style matter xD) is currently on quest to lvl 99 running p8 cows.

Yeah one should indeed wonder how this version of LoD got released :)

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

I think Razortail just gives the 1% chance to pierce, not 100%, and I don't believe it works with sorc spells. But I'll fire up 1.07 when I am at my one of my old machines and see how it does with Fireball or Glacial Spike and report back.

BTW, I tried the "Demon machine pierces cold immunity" some time ago and it seemed not to do any good, as has been mentioned above.
