Mac Compatible

Just like many on the site today, I played II a while back and with the upcoming release of DIII, I have a new sparked interest if playing DII again.

I still have my disks from my PC game, but since then; I purchased a MAC. Will I have to purchase a new game for the MAC specifically or will the original game for the PC still be able to be used?

This might seem like a dumb question, but when I went to purchase DII for my MAC I did not see anything that would specify that it was for either for PC or MAC.

Thanks for the help.

Re: Mac Compatible

AFAIK the same CDs are used for both PC and Mac, but I'm just 90% sure about it. I cannot check that before I'm home.

Re: Mac Compatible

Yeah, the disks work with both. If you have OS X 10.5.3 you might need to apply the latest patch manually and you will need to download the OS X installer from the Blizzard site.

The game works great on my iMac!

one of the reasons Blizzard is so loved by mac-gamers.

they release for us the sametime as for the pc community!

and yes: the same disks are used. the raw D2 disks can be used to install under Classic OS (OS-9), if you use OS-X, you can download the native installer from blizzard.

afaik: the 1.12 patch addressed the previous issue where D2 was finniky with Intel based macs (some Rosetta issue).

And that mac users can play with PC users. One thing that was disappointing about Halo was that Mac Halo users could't play with users on the PC.

Re: Mac Compatible

In the previous post, it states that I may need to download the latest patch manually, how would I do that? I am very new to my iMAC. I have only been having it for about a month and haven't spent much time with it yet.

don't worry about it. just install d2 with the latest native OS-X installer, connect to battle.net and it should patch itself to 1.12 automagically.

the os-x installer installs v1.10 by default. im not sure if it's even possible to play earlier patches......
