I'd like to jump in on this. :smiley: I'm using a softcore char ATM, as I just restarted playing so I can't make one HC yet.

Only one active Barb going, so I'll try that! Seems tough (not many weapons available), but Warcry doesn't need a weapon so I'll try it with Frenzy. Hoping for big elemental damage charms.

Gotten to the Dark Wood waypoint, need to rescue Cain still. Prettty easy so far at /p7, Double-Swinging everything to death (and drinking mana pots about every 20 seconds I think). Horking champs/minions, but haven't hit anything from it yet. Found quite a few Jewels, but no green ones.

What can I say? It's not too smart attacking diablo on p8 with only a shoddy battle axe for a weapon. He managed to bone prison me twice (while I was moving too). The first time was out of his range, so I had the time to leave. The second time was IN his range, and I was fresh out of mana (summoning bears). So in panic mode, I quaffed a big purple, summoned a bear, only to see it walk AWAY from diablo, summoned it again, while being toasted, drank another purple, again the toast, turn into druid, deeds.

Too bad, had an Amn rune drop from the forge, and an Amn rune drop in the sanctuary as well...

Without much further ado, I present to you : Mihanti.
Tossed 3 coins, and whaddaya know? Came up with an assassin.
Since my last assassin was a phoenix striker, and I dont feel comfortable enough with the class for an oddball build, and I kinda need a buildthat is mostly item independent, i went with a trapassin.

One set item so far, Hsarus Iron Fist dropped on me in the hole lvl 2

It was a slow start for Fice but once she realised the strategy of frost nova and a gemmed spiked club, she was on her way!

Blood raven went down swiftly and without a quibble. Found a nice green shield(Hsarus' Iron Fist) in the underground passage and Cleglaw's Claw in the Dark Woods. Now to try and gamble for a belt or gloves to go with them sets.

Update!

Update for Blisters (or should i say Destroyer Blisters).

A lot has happened since you last met her. I have only played a few sorcs before, and i thought that blizzard would be sufficient to kill stuff. But: when turning level 25 i got cold feet (contrary to Blisters). She is now of the Meteorb subclass. The main reason for this is that i really enjoy playing her, and if im to go all the way to Hell, i need skills that actually can hurt all monsters. Hence, Meteorb... (i know, i chickened out.. :embarassed:)

Blisters fought her way through act 1, and quickly got her first set drop, Cleglaws shield in jail, lvl 3. Andy fell with under Blisters lvl 1 ice blast, leaving crap to the afterworld.

In act 2, my luck showed no limits. The whole act provided me and Chalan (prayer merc) with TWO green armors; Vidalas and Arctic Furs (which im still wearing due to subpar resists). Duriel was killed with a level 1 blizzard. Just cast many times. Many times (many trips to town as well for that matter).

Nothing much to say about act 3 and 4 really. I found a Sigons helm in lower Kurast, although, not surprisingly, Meph dropped Hsarus belt. In the room just before the stairs down to durance lvl3 an undead doll (ouch!) dropped Berserkers armor, replacing Vidalas on Chalans torso. Hellforge gave me a Thul and a Ptopaz.. WANT. MF! :sad2: I found a few green jewels though, one with 5%mf and 6%fire res IIRC. Maybe ill socket something... hmm...

Act 5 was a breeze, Frozen Orb dominates normal. I found a couple of nice charms along the way (6%fres 12 life and two 7%light res). Nothing worth mentioning dropped. Cathans ring was found in the Icy Cellar. On my way to the ancients, i found a new weapon for Chalan, an ethereal 2-socketed Lochaber axe. I put two perfect green stones in the holes. HUGE upgrade for him. Nothing interesting the rest of the act. Ancients turned to gold. Baal laughed and then died (dropped.... no green!).

Tonight i did Blood Moor and Den of Evil. Corpsfire was kind enough to give me Sigons gloves, which gives me the PARTIAL SET BONUS of: 30% IAS on the gloves and a ton of AR on the helm as well as 10% ll... :shocked: Anyway, i still got Wirts leg in the ATMA stash, so ill probably do that next (i forgot i had it till i wrote this..). Cow kings hoofs will be mine :laugh:

I did, just last night! :grin: I had been gambling for crowns, and snagged Iratha’s Coil. That helps with the resists quite a bit.

This has been a major level for greens. (I guess choosing items for higher MF is paying off for Venus.) In addition to Iratha’s Coil, in Act III we have found:
  • Vidala’s Fetlock (yay!)
  • Cathan’s Rule (another yay!)
  • IK Will (sorry Kaelim, too late to help you)
  • Isenhart’s lightbrand (now we have the full set, but no thanks)
  • Civerb’s cudgel
  • Sigon’s Shelter
  • Second Isenhart’s Horns (lower Def than the one Mizan is already wearing)

Mihanti is doing pretty good. Andy was kind enough to drop green gloves. A shame I got those AFTER I had fought her though, but hey, I still managed to kill her, so no harm done I guess :P with two green items in my possession, Hsaru's Buckler and Death's hands, I decided to focus my gambling on green belts, sashes and Chain Boots. This paid off halfway through Act II, in the lost city, when I gambled a pretty green belt. Yay! Some hefty defensive bonusses, +20 life and some CR. Not bad all in all. Mana was a serious issue, now that I could use lightning traps I had sunk 10 hard points in energy (2 lvls) during act 1, and I wasn't intending to put any more there.

Luckily enough, I found a GC with +16 mana and 12% FHR on it. I decided to use that for a while. In the Ancient Tunnels a green amulet dropped, the angelic wings. Not terribly useful for this build, but certainly better then an empty slot! :P

Act II done. A light belt (green) dropped in the Arcane Sanctuary, I may swap it in if I find a few other items from the Arctic set. The very first unique I encountered in the very first false tomb dropped a unique Full helm, but that was the only noteworthy drop in all of the tombs, duriel included.

No problems at the maggot btw. Even without drinking any thawing potions, I managed to kill him in one sitting while keeping my merc alive (barely) by force feeding him reds. No more luck gambling either. I keep focussing on chain boots, but I also gamble war swords and sashes. I might consider gambling for ring mails and quilted armors, but that's in the future.

I simply like the trapsin, what can i say? Tagged the waypoint in Lower Kurast, but didn't kill anything yet there. No drops... Except for a Bloodthief from one of the electrified treestumps henchme... err, henchtrees.

Venus finished up Act III. The only close call was one of stupidity. In the Ruined Temple she got poisoned by a Spider Magus. After the level was cleared she was reduced to 1 HP, but went to pick up Lam Esen's Tome and TP out. Suddenly a minion Flesh Hunter from Sarina’s pack came rushing out of the corner where she had been hiding. Fortunately we saw her in time; Venus ran away gulping a potion while Mizan covered her retreat. :duh:

Meph himself was no big deal. We took it down to /p3 for him, and started out using the moat trick. However I decided that this team works better at closer range, so jumped back in his face. After Static Field knocked him down to a third he quickly fell. Amongst his other “trashâ€, Meph dropped a second Angelic ring. Venus gladly accepted it in place of her Cathan's Seal.

The other new new green was Rite of Passage, found in Travincal – our first exceptional set piece! Too bad that just about any other item from the Disciple set would have been better for her. :tongue: I’d love to see the Credendum!

Slightly bigger step this time. Mihanti just completed the second quest in Act V. Next time, a ruish through the plateau is needed, and I can start at that super unique death slasher hero guy.

Mephy dropped only rares and a blue, but in one of the temples I got me a gold quilted armor. Nice, but useless of course. Act IV didn't start off all that great, the hellforge dropped a nef rune. And a perfect topaz, but no emeralds...
Ah well, my traps were good all through the sanctuary. Even diablo was no problem at p8, allthough I had to keep a close eye on my health, since my lack of fire resistance meant every fire ring he shot hurt. It was worth it though, he dropped a green ring mail. Coupled with the angelic wings amulet, I got some nice life and defense bonuses!

Act V is a breeze so far. With lvl 15 lightning sentry, synergized by 6 in Charged Bolt Sentry and I think another 6 (or 5) in Death sentry, my taps really mob up the baddies. A green breast plate dropped in the whatsitcalled dungeon in the second area of Act V.

I see some good progress here but still my score is the best even if I am just more than month after my burial. :grin:
I hope that somebody as soon as possible break my score for I have more motivation to start new char for finished this tournament as first guardian. :smiley:

The goings have been good, and Mihanti can now officially call herself a Destroyer. Why on earth you want to call yourself... Destroyer... beats me, but hey, to each his own. Or her own, in this case.

I have had SUCH luck in Act V, it's unbelievable. From my last post on, 4 more green items dropped. I'll post a full list below. Suffice it to say, one was Isenharts LightBrand, one was Sanders RipRap, which filled my empty boots slot. Pretty useless, except for the fact that 40% faster R/W meant I could switch away from BoS and wear Fade. Not bad that. Resists are going to be an issue after all.
But the best green drop BY FAR fell in the Underground River... A green Sabre, making my total for the Angelic Set 3. Sweet bonusses, especially the FR +50, the mana +50 and the +1 to all skills... Now just an halo... or two! :grin:
Runes were good too, allthough I wont be able to use them. 2 Dols, 1 Sol, 2 Thuls, and 1 Ort. I've had worse...

Baal dropped crap, and the moomoo farm, usually good for a green or two, dropped only 3 flawless gems (one an emerald), 2 runes (Tal and Eth) and 1 ethereal gold flail.

Smallish update.Nightmare sure is different from normal eh? I have just finished of Blood Raven and crypt/mausoleum/Hole. The moron died twice already. And one lightning immune LE hero, which was annoying. But the merc managed to deal with that skeleton quite nicely.

So that leaves my next set item. The very first one that dropped actually, at the start of the Cold Plains. A green... ring. And, you guessed it. [highlight] Angelic set complete [/highlight] Excellent stuff...

Also found Milabrega's Rod (the War Sceptre) as well as a leadcrow and a razortine. And a Sol rune.

After reading through both Green with Envy tourny threads, I just had to give it a try. I don't usually play hardcore, but we'll see how it goes :laugh:

Entering Veridian, the (almost) pure shadow Assassin. The plan will be to max Shadow Master and Death Sentry, with 5 or so points in Fade, and a point in Blade Fury. Shadow Master can't tank like a Valkyrie or Grizzly can, but I'm hoping my use of Cloak of Shadows and Mind Blast will make up for it. If I manage to get this far, future skill points will probably go to Venom (and if I max that...either Lightning Sentry or Fire Blast).

Of course, all of this planning will probably be wasted as I might very well splatter myself before Andariel :laugh:.

The trapsin still blazes through. I found a nice green skull cap in the hole in the black marsh. Since I had no green head gear yet, more points :P Quite useless otherwise though. The Countess tower proved no problem, and gave no good items. Countess on p1 netted me an Eld and a Thul. I've had worse. I've had much better.

I foresaw trouble in the pit, but was easily proven wrong. Likewise for the outer cloister. The Smith was a bit troublesome for my merc, particulalry since he was also beset by an ES Death clan goatman. Still, 2 SH and liberal trapping took care of both problems. The Smith only dropped blues and whites.

Into the jail, where there was only one difficult opponent. But it was my most difficult battle in a way yet in NM, so worth mentioning. I am of course referring to Pitspawn Fouldog. His extra mod was extra strong. Couldn't keep the moron alive, nor my shadow warrior. However, since the dog couldn't get out of the cage, and I could lay traps in the cage, and watch what happened from the safety net of a box of crates, it was quite easy... It just took me a beltfull of blues and 6 or 7 recasts of my traps to kill the lot of them. He dropped crap, a chapion pack of Death clans dropped a unique giant sword though.

Currently tagged the Inner cloister. Only 1 more waypoint, then Andy :P

42 chipped gems dropped, only 3 emeralds among them (which have all gone towards my merc's bow). 5 jewels have dropped, none green. Sometimes it seems like statistics and probability are only useful to see how badly you're getting screwed :laugh:

No real NDEs so far, though I did get close a couple of times, once with a Cursed archer pack in the Forgotten Tower and once with a Multishot skeleton archer pack right at the end of Tamoe Highland. I'm probably playing more aggressively than I should, but at least I was smart enough to put some stat points into vitality, which I normally don't do this early with softcore characters. /p8 full clears of everything up to the Outer Cloister waypoint, which will likely continue (assuming I stay alive :laugh: ) at least throughout normal and most of Nightmare, though I might tone it down for Diablo and Baal to save some time.

So far I've been trying to melee with a superior scepter, adding in a few Wake of Fire traps when I want some help (like in level 2 of The Pit) and using Cloak of Shadows against shamen and ranged baddies. Thankfully, I'm right at the final edge of level 17, so finally getting Fade, Blade Fury, and a minion (albeit only Shadow Warrior) is almost within reach.

No set items...yet :laugh:. Been gambling for Arctic and Death's set, though I'll probably expand to looking for Cleglaw's and Iratha's soon as well (I should check the qlvls for those).

Best finds so far have been some charms: a 6% lightning resist small charm with 6@3sec poison damage, and +20 life over 4 inventory spaces.
