THE TYRANNICIDES: [revised] An outrageously expensive build for optimal MF-ing.

Good question. I have a mac and can't find a free program to do that... Suggestions?

Honestly though, for most builds you don't really know how fast the build will kill etc... until you try it.

Yeah Ribgriller I saw your previous post, I think that the merc can be very strong but you have to wear just the right items.

Fortitude really is a must, the enhanced damage is the reason; although, I'm thinking deep about alternatives to fortitude. Anyway Fortitude makes your merc way more efficient.

Also, most people don't use act 2 nightmare offensive mercs. In my experience the nightmare act 2 defensive merc is one of the most popular choices. However, the defensive merc does not work well alone. That merc is mostly to help your character. So, try using a might merc if you want to see your merc kill faster independently.

Weapon choice is key! I find that Infinity works very well but an EBOTD ethereal polearm is tight! to. I'm still testing different weapons.

If you don't want to ever have to heal your mercenary make sure that somewhere on his gear he gets +__% to life per hit. This works similarly to Draculs grasp with high life on your merc!

Try to pile up the most useful modifiers with your helm. Such as, Crushing Blow and +%IAS (increased attack speed)

I don't know if I helped or not. You probably knew that already.

Thanks a ton for your comments RibGriller:thumbsup:

Fort is the best but before & if you can't get it, a lionheart is nice easy ED + stats resists on your merc (if only the +VIT helped him)

The bigtime values are in items that are not so readily available. Big friggin deal, a arach.

PVP is a huge part of Diablo ii, where have you been?

Peeps, or smart educated peeps, look for:

Circs
Trap Claws - with high staff mods or godly fool's
Aritsan's with happy mods like blocking, deflecting, life, fcr, frw etc etc
LLD stuff - Rare armours with eth repair or whatever, helms, circs, amulets, rings, jewels etc etc
Tri-Res boots
20IAS str dex ++ gloves
Melee charms, life/ar, mana etc etc
This list can go on forever

Damn if your just unique happy then your not even really mfing.

DAYUM. :hang:

I pointed this out long ago, The best items in the game are rares and magic only items. But he think's rings that are better than P nagles are too hard to find...
One of the best things about this build is because you are not PURE SPEED HI MF you have time while merc is killing things to pick up and ID all the good item class Blues and Yellows and find the truly weird and best items for the other builds you make.
Yet you seem to miss this point in your guide and I think it's one of the best sellers of the build!
I'm somehow not surprised to find your a MAC user, It explains so much of the Attitude you had in the first version of this guide when attacked by others, but I must say you calmed down well and are doing much better now.

Oh when i magic find i definitely look out for those rare and magic items, and socketed items. You're right htough I should add that information to my guide.

Within the next week I may revise the guide.

Thanks for the comment.

Big NEWS!!!

Big NEWS !! for all those that have been following this guide!

First of all thanks to everyone who has already commented. I've recieved some invaluable feedback!

I've been testing around with different items.

With a two socket Giant Helm socketed with two 15ias/40%ed as well as a top notch damage Infinity (around 80-930) I've got my mercenary killing Baal in around one minute and 30 seconds and he handles minions and souls with little difficulty!

This is a big step for this guide. I've realized that although Baal deals considerable damage; IF you're merc has been well-BO'd etc... he will not need life-leach vs. Baal! That frees up room for increased damage.

It is truly bizarre but a mercenary like the one in this build NEEDS life leech vs. andariel but DOESN'T need it at all vs. Baal. The same mercenary!

We are one step closer to effortless Baal kills my friends. I will continue testing out my ideas. The act5 merc tests are going well and there have been some promising findings.

Keep checking this thread to stay updated.

edit*:Update!! Teleport on top of baal every 3-4 seconds and every time he moves. Try to teleport just a little behind him. Behind him your merc will hit more often. Also this reduces the amount of time your merc spends not hitting Baal. This strategy brings the time it takes to kill Baal down ALOT.

This is the strategy I'm using to kill Baal. Also be sure to use battle cry on Baal as soon as possible.

Remember, I sincerely appreciate the large amount of constructive criticism that has been posted so far. Keep it up!:prop:

Sorry, didn't read every post in this thread...

But I'm just wondering about your mentioning "non-permed" runes and "glitched" armor... are we all ok with stuff like that here?

I'm not.

Thank you for bringing that to my attention, K. I have edited the OP's guide to remove such references, as they are against forum rules.

Let me know if I missed any.

I'm not.

Since when have glitched armors ever been a problem? And duh, 99% of the hr's are duped, it's always been that way.

Remember, glitched armors are made legit through the cube recipe, they are always perm so there's nothing wrong with it, unless you suck at rolling them like I do.

In response to the recent topic...

I didn't realize that glitched armors are forbade to mention on this forum. As to the high runes; I completely defer to Hal on this subject. I am certain Hal knows best.

Thanks for the *edit Hal!

On the subject of runes: It has become VERY easy to get legit. runes recently! MANY people on non-ladder are capable of VERY fast rushes. The only trick to getting runes is making alot of new characters! And, you can end up using those characters! or testing different builds.

Personally I love making new characters and testing builds so I like this method of getting high runes. I recommend an item you don't want in return for the rush. Many people accept this as payment. A good time to give payment is either after the council or after diablo.

Alternatively, and this is the most common method, you get rushed in return for your hell-forge.

Another possible method is to use two computers or a friend.

I just wanted to talk briefly about this to stress that I'm one of those people that believes: You can do anything in Diablo legitimately that you could do by cheating, it's more fun and a fuller experience and it requires wit! But those are all good things!

Again, thanks for the edit* Hal, I concur with your decision.:flowers:

I'll send you my next paycheck when Ber and Jah drop on my Hellforge quest.

That's cheap mf gear. But that is a fantastic little trick to get mf with a low budget build. One of my friends who just started playing again is using those. I love tricks like that.

There's actualy a slew of partial set bonuses out there and many of them are quite good.

To clarify:

I suppose the glitched gear is technically legal, since it is created through legitimate in-game methods. Suggesting the use of duped items directly is not, though you can of course suggest the use of legitimate items that are popularly duped - such as runes and charms. You just can't suggest people get duped versions is all.

Old-school duped rares are out of bounds, since you can't legitimately get them anymore, and there should only be one copy of each in existence anyways.

Thanks for the clarification Hal

So I've been testing and I think the best way to switch my build to goldfind between runs is to simply switch out the ist-ed swords for dual 2xLem-ed ali babas.

This gives you Huge goldfind with just 2 items. These 2 items only take up 6 spaces in your stash together!

Using wizardspikes, trangoul/magefist, crafted ammy, 20%fcr helm - does make your teleport faster by breaking the 200%breakpoint but the difference is not very impressive in my opinion.

I would stick to the items I suggest in my guide rather than go for 200%fcr. However, I suppose it's possible to get a GODLY helm and crafted ammy that each have 20%fcr and alot of mf%. I suppose this would be pretty sweet but I wouldn't bother.:azn:

Stick to the 105%fcr breakpoint. It's a nice speed.

Just giving this update because I finished thoroughly testing the differences between the 105 and 200 % breakpoints.

Things are going well with the A5 mercs. -However, I don't wish to unveil my theories until they are fully-realized.

Found awesome Merc Resource. Way more in-depth than Arreat Summit or anything...

I give you top points for originality, and I am sure that your barb is very effective in MF. Find Item gives you a double chance, and therefore your barb beats all other MF builds (sorcs, summoners, fishyzons, ...). I have some worries about its speed though if you rely only on your Merc for killing, certainly compared with a TP-ing Sorc.

But I don't think I will ever build a Tyrannicide. For one thing, I'm not rich this ladder season (because I don't play much). This is the first season I haven't even built a cold sorc, which I think is the fastest MF-er there is, because I find the play style boring. I use a Necro Summoner to run the WSK, and only when I feel like it.

Props!!!

Dude I totally agree with you. I got so bored of Sorc-mf'ing. I like your strategy for the new ladder season and I think I'll try to do something like that myself. Haven't done much this ladder season.

Thanks for the great comment!!!

Sorry chief, had to cut that last link out - can't link to competing strategy sites from the main site, unfortunately :/
