Harmony...underrated?

Harmony...underrated?

Just looking at the stats...nothing to be sniffed at as my Strafer will have nothing in Dodge, Evade and Avoid but i want a Valk for additional crowd control so i was thinking about using this very cheap bow:-

'Harmony'
4 Socket Missile Weapons

Tir + Ith + Sol + Ko(!!!!!!)

Level 10 Vigor Aura When Equipped
+200-275% Enhanced Damage (varies)
+9 To Minimum Damage
+9 To Maximum Damage
Adds 55-160 Lightning Damage
Adds 55-160 Fire Damage
Adds 55-160 Cold Damage
+2-6 To Valkyrie (varies)
+10 To Dexterity
Regenerate Mana 20%
+2 To Mana After Each Kill
+2 To Light Radius
Level 20 Revive (25 Charges) (Urdars b4 Boss Killing any1?!?)

WOW, oh so nice, the only place it falls down is the lack of IAS but then again if it had that it would probably require higher runes to make it...i want to use this but what kind of bow should i use? I need something fast if i'm to be using Strafe but i'm concerned about breakpoints...can any1 advise me of bow and if it isn't advisable due to Strafe's mechanics plz?

Matri bow is the perfect bow for harmony, both the rw and the bow have lvl 39 req :wink2: And matri is a fast bow to top it all off.
I've used it lot's of times, preferably with treachery during nm before you can use the bigger guns (it is endgame possible, but wf or faith still hits a bit harder :rolleyes:)

Thx 4 the quick reply there Kijya, i was thinking of using it with Treachery as i love that armour! As previously said, i can't use the bigunz as i want the Valk oskill from it coz i'll have nowt in the passives so if it is viable for endgame i'll make it tonight!

Harmony is perhaps the best bow in the game vs price. The top bow is Matriarchal Bow +3 skills, but that is to expensive for some people. But if you get/see a +2 skill bow, then you have a very nice bow for a very nice price.
 
It most definitely isn't overrated, people often use it as a twink weapon (when they actually play the mid level game instead of just leeching). It works in hell but most players can afford to get a faith or wf so they go for the better weapon option. For those on a budget it is most definitely a good weapon.
 
I use it for 1 purpose in high level, to make my faith merc catch up to me. I have completed hell with that bow before too.

I never said it was, or are you being contrary? The reason i ask is that i am getting a little tired of your emotive posts in response to mine and want to work out what your deal is...

I was making a point, harmony is not underrated, in fact it's like WWS in that regard. Nice to use but you might as well use faith or WF if you can afford them. I was in no way trying to be contrary, nor was i being particularly emotive, i was as i've just mentioned, trying to make a point.

This is the reason i asked...the thread is 'underrated' and i quote you saying 'overrated' so i questioned the nature of your tone as to being contrary. When you say i might as well use WF or Faith then read what i said at the start...no Evade etc so i want the oskill Valk which is the reason i started this thread about using the bow as it will benefit my build and wanted others exp with it...so far so good as every1 has said it roxx so i'll build around it :smiley:

I have no beef with you dude i'm just making sure we r clear...English gentleman to gentleman eh?! :laughing:



 
it is good and as wmeredith states here it is indeed the best bow in the game if price is considered as a factor.

My bad, i put overrated instead of underrated and didn't reread :shocked: .
Just a question but why aren't you putting any points into D/A/E? The valk is probably too low a level to tank effectively, bearing in mind that Oskills are at a maximum of +3 to the class which already contains that skill so you'll have a lot of trouble packing enough + skills to make it effective as a tank. Along with treachery it'll be very effective for killing PI monsters but killing speed will seriously drop off in hell games with more than one person.



 
just 2 cents, if this is going to be hell used, then a valk under or around lvl 10 will get crushed, saying there ur just useing those skills and not maxing it with the + skills from the bow... thats all, but def a cool bow, i went right for faith, but i did get punished with a horrid roll (14/1) in a +1 MB.....

I'd hardly call that punished, + bow skills really aren't all that important for physical damage bowazons.



 
My friend easily walked hell with a harmony. He did use D/A/E though and a valk....he just used it because it was cheap.
 
:point: Man, if I thought for a minute that there was ANY weapon (or armor or build combination for that matter) that could 'easily walk Hell'. . .every character I have would be running it.
In 4+ years of playing this game I've yet to run across anything that could walk Hell. That includes tweaked out Max damage Hammerdins. They've made that level so difficult that no body is safe. Some of the most powerful characters I've ever seen or played could 'get by' in Hell level. . .but it wasn't ever easy. It was a challenge the entire way from the Blood Moor all the way to Baal.

No flames, bro, but nobody walks Hell.
 
Just my 2cents on the harmony as a hell viable weapon(kinda OT since isnt the point for the thread), my first straffer used one on switch to use the vigor aura to speed up the pit runs, kinda weird that sometimes I dont changed back to main weapon to kill sparse targets and noticed the killing speed was acceptable and ended using the harmony full time with that zon.

That's not true. I've seen several characters that can beat Hell without even breaking a sweat. Heck, I've built a character that I can *PARK* in Hell, take a bathroom break, and when I come back he'll still be at full life.

I've got to side with SSoG on that one. It may have been because I was playing a fireclaws bear with a 10 second duration shockwave (which granted couldn't take a bathroom break like the invincible abbot), but hell was pretty much a breeze. Fortunately there doesn't seem to be such a correlation between hell-clearing ease and public popularity as suggested (at least last time I check fc druids and abbots were pretty uncommon).

Back on topic, I think Harmony is a wonderful runeword that gets overlooked. To those would say it doesn't kill as fast as a Faith or Windforce, that is restating the obvious, but more so, you don't need almost excessive power to do fine in pvm, just a little patience and common sense (see: this, then page ninety six). Maybe too many of us have become accustomed to "godly" gear and have forgotten that pvm can in fact be done without it.



 
I like Harmony, and it is a hell viable bow. Infact, I would call it one of the best anti-pi bows in the game.
