My javazon is doing great through act 2 on players 8 setting. Plague Javelins really rock at the moment. It's soon time for duriel, a fight which I'm not looking forward to. I had a few NDEs in Act 1, but just 1 so far in Act 2 :) I used my imbue to imbue a javalin, and it became dual leech 6/7 with + to ar and fire resist, I'm really happy with that one =)

The choice was deeds or glory, and it turned out to be the latter. Diablo fell to Triggerhappy's plague javelins. Since I played at players 8 the whole of act IV, especially the battle with Diablo took extremely long, my guess is an hour or so. In order to be able to keep on running, I drank massive amounts of stamina potions before the battle, and nevertheless had to go back twice to drink another massive amount. Although it was of course dangerous, it was not as dangerous as I expected. I had quite a few NDE's in the Chaos Sanctuary, and the merc died often, but all in all it was easier than expected. Diablo's LBOD and firestorm turned out less dangerous than expected, only his ring of fire was extremely dangerous. He used bone prison only once, at the beginning, and failed to catch me with it at that point. This had actually been my main fear, bone prison right next to him, and he could finish me with his LBOD and fire attacks. Now, I could outrun his LBOD and firestorm, and had my NDE's solely from the ring of fire. At the end he even dropped a gold and a green, Venom Ward and Sigon's Gage. Nevertheless, I'm now using the yellow breastplate he dropped, since that has around 20 to both fire and lightning resistance in addition to 24% FHR. The hellforge dropped an ort, but I did since find a thul already. The low strength requirement of demonhide sashes, means I'm actually able to use one, and the 16 boxes came in handy during the fight with Diablo, though I must add that I did not use a single purple in said fight.

Next year I will finish College and most likely begin working right away. I'm hoping to retire ~65-70 at which time I expect to have some more free time to play TehDexAZon.

Actually I set her aside about 2 weeks ago for a change of scenery, I have been MF'ing Hell Andy and the Ancients Tunnel for 2 weeks and am weary of that so mayhaps I will return to TehDexAZon inbetween homework bouts.

Heres a update on Justine-I:

Duriel: I had to ressurect my merc 8 times as he died from 2 hits from Duriel, The whole battle was a nightmare and I had many NDEs, luckily I have 75% block and 50% chance to dodge melee attacks, without that I wouldn't be alive now =) I defeated Duriel after throwing lots of plague javelins and drinking a huge amount of potions.

Act III: Act III was a nightmare from the start to the end, I had many NDEs in the Flayer Dungeon, Sewers and Durance of Hate (those stygian dolls!). Maybe I should start playing more carefully? But I love the adrenaline-rush when the red orb goes below 50% :P

Mephisto: He was a breeze, as I just hit level 30 at that time and had Lightning Fury, I lured him to the blood pool and stood at the other side throwing LFs at him and drinking mana potions, piece of cake!

Act IV: I actually can't believe it, but since I started to use LF I haven't had a single NDE yet. Justine totally rocked the crowds of monsters in Act IV. Hellforge gave me a lousy Tir rune and Izual was slain after at endless battle for 30 minutes :| I did some CS-runs on players 8 setting to level some before facing the Lord of Terror himself.

Diablo: I prepared for that fight and managed to achieve 75% Fire and 60% Lightning resists. I only had one NDE because of a stupid mistake I made while running.

Act V: Went like a breeze, I am killing faster and faster because of LF dmg getting higher and higher as I level and my merc / valk manages to distract the monsters so I'm in no danger at all at times. I did the ancients at players 8 settings and I had no problems with them :)

Baal: Not a problem at all, and his minions was even easier.. I'm kind of dissappointed for that :P

Now I'm off for doing Normal Cows, I will totally dominate them :P

So I must say, I overestimated Duriel. Not only did he not touch me, but I could've done it on p8 for sure. That Peace runeword really does the trick! :grin:
I've been very fortunate while running for items the past 3 levels. Came across 2 s.sustenance charms, Razortail at tower cell lvl 2 :cool: and a rare great sword with amp damage and 70%ed for my merc.
But as excited as I was to turn that into rare exceptional, I got giddy and turned it into a executioner sword and forgot to check the stats my barb has :/ he's now sporting a 2s skull helm with a p.emerald + p.amethyst now, lol

2 NDEs occured though, after the 2nd one took place I decided that chest running in the fake tombs of tal rasha is a very poor idea.
1st occured when I found myself clustered with revived skellies.
2nd one occured when I found myself IN A CORNER cluster with revived skellies. I got out by a quick portal (luckily it was the south corner, easier to click portals) while jamming my rejuvs
Those ravellers are a pain.

my resists aren't maxed yet, and I have no mana leech. I've got about 400hp now and my normal arrows do about 110-240 with javelins just above that atm.
lightning fury is imba imo :p

edit: checking my dmg and it is 109-272 arrow and thrown jav is 117-278.
 
I'll do a update later tonight. Currently questing through Act 1 Hell and searching for runes for Peace, just missing the amn

I got a bit further, the start of act V turned out far easier than the end of act IV. But then considering that the latter was Diablo himself that might come as no surprise. Before venturing out to hunt for Nihlatak, I first went into the Glacial Trail until I found the waypoint. Then it was on to Pindleskin and down into the temple. Nihlatak took a surprisingly long time to kill but did not pose too much trouble, the radius of his corpse explosion was still small and I could survive one or two. I'm now really looking forward to Baal (if I get that far), which I'm also planning to do at players 8.
I still did not make a stealth armour, I found one two socket armour which I could wear with regards to strength, but it was a ring mail and I did not like the lower run speed. I did however craft myself a nice caster mask which means that I have slightly less trouble with mana. I can now actually use lightning fury every so often. I'm also still looking for a mana steal/replenishing javelin/pilum/throwing spear/war javelin/great pilum/harpoon (this cannot drop yet I think)/maiden javelin/ceremonial javelin, but so far no luck. I'm also thinking of making an Ancient's Pledge, but I just discovered I need a large shield for that. I think I found one and assumed I could find something better, which I can not with my current strength.
I found quite a few green and gold items, but I'm only using Sander's Riprap and Civerb's Icon at the moment. Cathan's Seal and Cleglaw's Pincer's I'm still keeping in my stash since I recon I might want to use them. The rest is muled of to a stash I made to keep track of my finds with this character. In spite of not having a runeword shield yet (rhyme would be nice as well, but no shael as of yet), I do have maxed lightning resistance at the moment thanks to mask, breast plate, and small shield all having about 20% lightning resistance and finding a shimmering grand charm.

Here we go:

NM Act I: went as a breeze on /p 8, nothing much to say really. Andy went down in a zip-zap

NM Act II: Same as act I, did duriel on /p 8 and didn't have to TP back to town :)

NM Act III: A totally nightmare, especially the Flayer Jungle, Dungeon and Sewers.. many NDEs!

NM Act IV: No problems here, big D was a challenge though

NM Act V: This act isn't really hard IMO, just the last part with the Ancients and Baal were a challenge.. leveled to lvl 75 by killing Baals minions

Hell Act I: I tried on /p 8, but the killing speed of my zon was too slow.. so I'm playing on /p 1. Andariel became a challenge, I had to run around the bloodpool and throw plague javelins at her and herd her against the cloud.. she dropped nothing useful :/

Hell Act II: Here I had to mainly use Plague Javelins, so many Lightning Immunes :/ Duriel was a hell of a challenge.. she cost me about 400 000 gold for ressurecting my merc... She did a fantastic drop though: Arachnid Mesh and a String of Ears :D 2 good belts for me to use :) Only problem is the 50 str req on the elite belt :S

Now it's time for Act III, I don't expect to survive this after the troubles of Act III in NM. Wish me luck :P

Well, I did get to Baal, but was killed by him very quickly. I threw a plague javelin and ran away, followed by "My brothers will not have died in vain", so I made a townportal and went to Malah. Then I went back in, and saw that there was still a Baal where the clone appeared, which I thought odd, since usually the clone disappears when you go to town. I continued to where I'd last seen the original, which was indeed still there as well. I ran towards him (to pass him) and got blasted by fire. Then I tried to throw another plague javelin which failed due to him hitting me (I probably had about 20 hitpoints left at this point). I tried to drink a potion, but another blast of fire finished me.

Just not to leave out other details, after Nihlatak, the first problem turned out to be Achmel since he was poison immune. Nevertheless, lightning fury worked quite well even after all his minions were down, he had far less hitpoints than expected. "But what about the ancients?", I hear you think. Well, the fight wasn't hard, and that was at players8. They didn't mind attacking my merc who stood his ground, although I did have to feed him a few potions, but after the first (the thrower) went down that was not even needed. After that, the Worldstone Keep posed no trouble, up until the aforementioned Achmel. Colenzo went down quickly, Bartuc was a bit more dangerous, but although I did run away, all in all he went down quickly and easily, the same held for Ventar. Lister was another matter however, it took ages until I'd taken down him and all his minions, at some point I switched javelins, to have once with life steal and knockback together with my shield and have the replenishing ones on switch. Then it was plague javelin, meleeing for about ten seconds, another plague javelin etc. Of course I could only do this after I'd managed to break up the pack. After finally having taken down all of them, I expected a similar very long fight with Baal, but it was not to be.

All in all, I enjoyed the tourney, and thanks to Freekje for organizing it. I got far further than I expected (I was sure that even if I would make it past other act bosses, I surely would fall against Diablo). Good luck to all those still alive.

Justine-I has now completed Act III and started on Act IV Hell.

Act 3 Hell was a complete nightmare, and MANY MANY NDEs.. I can thank my 75% block for being alive now.. I'll never ever again return to that Flayer Jungle.. Mephisto was easy, but took looooong time.. so I doubt I'll manage to kill Diablo now.. but I'll try.. those Burning Souls in plains of despair are ****ing deadly (sorry for the language).. if I wasn't so quick with the tp I would have been posting my deeds right now.. Izual did the best drop he could do for me: A pair of Titans Revenge, which were almost perfect.. :) I'm soooo happy for that drop:

Not only did you register to the forums only to participate in this tournament, but you also played trough Act2-5 normal (with repeating runs to get higher levels) in 1 day, after that ALL of nightmare and leveling 25 levels in about 2 days with your first HC char after a reset. Did I mention going trough Hell act 3 and half of act 4 in a day? You seem to have the most incredible luck on surviving and items...

Just sayin'.

Indeed, I think I played through the game at the same speed with a twinked HC Hammerdin...

I will get round to carrying on sometime btw, just want to get my current character finished first :smiley:

well, have you read my update post before the last one? it has been entire week since I did a "real" update with my act questing.. this isn't done in 2 days, but over a period of 1 week.. yes I game a lot at the moment as I have vacation for the moment. This is not by far my first HC char ever, it's my first HC char since v1.09..

I played D2C HC a lot too, made just javazons there because I was tired of melee-characters dying and amazons having poor bows at the time. This is about my 15th javazon in D2: LoD HC, so I know how to play them. I might say, I had a tad bit too much luck so far.. you know, a old-school HC player who has played since D2C came out always keep the ESC button in short distance at all times.

I've also used these forums before, couldn't remember the account name so I reregeistered a new account name, sorry if I look suspicious. The only reason I reregistered was that I wanted a challenge and wanted to participate in the tournament. The other parts of the forums don't interest me that much.

And playing through Act 3 Hell + half of Act 4 in a entire day is very plausible when you play from you wake up till you go to bed. And a note on leveling: Baal runs nm give you about a level for each run to level 75. Also next time I get a good drop I'll take a screenshot of the items with the corpse before I id them.

I believe I promised an update a while ago. Nothing too exciting though, my level didn't change but I defeated Hell Andy. She was able to 1 hit my merc and could almost always 2 hit my Valk so yeah, I just ran around the blood pool and tossed Poison Jav's. My poison resist is miserable so the few times she hit me with her "spray" pretty much required that I TP'd to town asap. I used these as opportunities to re-cast my Valk, but left my merc dead for the remainder of the battle.

To be honest:
1) I'm glad I went Strafe/Poison instead of LF/Poison because it fits with the theme of the contest a bit better, but I'm pretty sure it's going to be my downfall.
2) Most of the time when I play her now I consider just killing her off so I'm not obliged to play her anymore. She's a bit boring at times, and frustrating at others (a direct result of the Strafe damage I think).

I don't want to give up though so I'm going to try and push on, if for no other reason then because AJK asked for it in his outroduction thread.

Also, I don't really want to be a part of a witch hunt so I'm just going to point out the fact that the odds of Hell Izual dropping Titan's are 1 in 31469 kills, while not impossible it is a very lucky find! Congrats! I am jealous beyond words!

1. 16-11-2006 23:52 (my time) you posted you want to join.

2. 17-11-2006 1:17 you update for the first time. Went up 15 levels in an hour and 25 minutes. While possible this is already very quick to be at the Black Marsh.

3. 18-11-2006 18:27 level 26 at the Arcaines. Quite possible. Here's the first item luck though, let's just say that the imbuie you had was ~JUST~ possible with the level you posted and about at perfect as could be with the dual leech.

4. 19-11-2006 19:25 level 50, NM act 1. That's 24 levels and from the arcaines trough Duriel, act 3, 4 and 5 past Baal in a day. Extremely fast. Saying Duriel was dangerous and took some time, having a lot of NDE's in act 3 and using a 1pt LF to finish of Meph doesn't help out either. p8 Ancients?

5. 19-11-2006 20:16 you mention you even went out for the evening and were drunk. Well played I guess.

6. 22-11-2006 14:11 You post without an updaet that you're question in act 1 Hell, looking for runes (so the countess). From the evening of the 19th to the mid day of the 22nd that's 2 days. 2 days to go from level 50 and cowing in normal to half way Act 1 Hell. Don't tell me there's a week between that. Lying doens't suit you.

7. 23-11-2006 03:51 You update the table setting yourself at level 75 at the Black Marsh in Hell. Great level progress I guess.

8. Yesterday 20:07 (24-11-2006) Level 77, Act 3 Hell. That's half of act 1 and act 2 entirely in a day. Going with a low level and an underpowered zon that way about it rediculous, but possible I guess. You update with a story saying you did NM act 1 and 2 on p8 (and probably the rest too as you mention trying act 1 hell later on on p8 too). P8 takes even longer. You mentioned leveling to 75 at NM Baal. This means that you were already level 75 at post #6 (at 22-11), meaning you not only did the progress I put in #6, but also leveled 25 levels. You also mention getting an Arach's and a SoE from Duriel. Asuming 100 MF (which you don't have) that's a dropchance of 1 in 1271820. Yeah, talk about luck. Let's just compare that with a fully decked out MF char having a 1 in ~160000 chance to find a Tyraels Might from Baal.

9. Today 00:52 (25-11-2006) Level 78 Halfway trough Act 4 Hell. Which is about 4 hours after you completed act 2. Which is damn quick considering you saying that act 3 was incredibly dangerous with many NDE's, Meph taking a ''loooooong'' time and finishing of Izual too (which should take about 30 minutes on him own considering it took you that time on NM too). You got a Titan's from Duriel. Which is about the luckiest find ever considering you're an amazon (ask Jantia about finding items for which fit the character you're actually playing), it's Izual, you didn't run him and the drop chance.

After that I posted my bit and you replied saying:

So you haven't played 1.1x HC? 1.09 is so much different from 1.1x that this just makes you look even more wrong in my eyes. If you haven't played 1.1x HC and start out with a disfunctional amazon for the first character, you're going to die. Easy as that.

Again, there is so much difference between classic and 1.1x you're not making an statement here. Saying it's your 15th javazon doesn't matter at all. I've played more chars then I can remember, still I die in about every tournament I enter.
I might say, I had a tad bit too much luck so far.. you know, a old-school HC player who has played since D2C came out always keep the ESC button in short distance at all times.

I'm just saying the findings you had were too extreme, yet possible. Also, if you save and exit quite a few times then your progress seems even more likely as you'd have to fight your way back and lose progress etc. and what's with the NDE's then?

I've also used these forums before, couldn't remember the account name so I reregeistered a new account name, sorry if I look suspicious. The only reason I reregistered was that I wanted a challenge and wanted to participate in the tournament. The other parts of the forums don't interest me that much.

Strikes a bit as odd, but alright I guess.

And playing through Act 3 Hell + half of Act 4 in a entire day is very plausible when you play from you wake up till you go to bed. And a note on leveling: Baal runs nm give you about a level for each run to level 75.

I don't believe it, but if you say so.. Oh and NM Baal runs does not give you about a level each runs. Not even on p8 and if you kill Baal which will slow your runs down a lot.

Also next time I get a good drop I'll take a screenshot of the items with the corpse before I id them.
