Woeful Wednesdaily

RL: It is 6 a.m. here... I'm tired, I've been up all night. I just finished watching Pan's Labyrinth.... my god that has to be the saddest movie I have ever watched.

D2: Check my blog.

OVG: Installed steam and Alien Swarm, hoping I might be able to play it. I don't have a video card, so I didn't think it would work... I was right.

**** Wednesday.

Re: Woeful Wednesdaily

RL: Strange night: I slept well, or think I slept well, but I had two distinct instances where I was asleep and dreaming–or thought I was–but suddenly realized that I was wide awake, and *poof* I was wide awake. I can't really describe it, but I continued dreaming (or thinking, anyway) while rolling over to check the clock (1:10am, 4:22am). Strange.

Now up, shaved, showered, coffee-sipping. I'm about to look over the interview questions again, put my responses on a flash drive, pack a lunch (turkey-cheddar-lettuce-mayo on 12-Grain bread with a small cup of pretzel sticks: yum), drive to work, work for 2 hours, go to a meeting for 27 minutes, walk to the office of the VP, introduce myself, interview for 29 minutes, walk to the boardroom, phone interview with VP and Senior VP (in Atlanta or someplace) for an hour or so, then workies for 5.5 hours (I'll be putting in an extra half-hour the rest of this week to make up for the interview time), home, interwebsurfings, food (likely sloppy joes), XFiles, RantBooking(tm), chatting with neighbor(s), etc.

Keep your fingers crossed that I make a great impression at the interview and they offer me full-time employment. Wouldn't that be nice.

D2: I need to come up with something to put here...

RB (RantBook: will not be defined again): Continuing on with defining the root causes of societal problems and, perhaps, beginning an exploration of possible solutions or interventions that I (as a single, inconsequential human) could enact to begin a movement towards a state of affairs that could, in turn, begin to have some sort of effect on the various gross inequalities, injustices, and whatnot that plague the world.

Re: Woeful Wednesdaily

Good luck J6G!

RL: I'm only awake at this ungodly hour because of a stupid dream. I went back in time supposedly, and I was aware that my house would soon be under attack. The velociraptors came before I even could get out of my room to build base defence or whatever. Forcing the game to reset over, and over, and over, and over, and over... :unimpressed:

D2: Wolfbarb on the way.

OVG: Torchlight and Atelier Iris 2, at least until I can get my hands on a copy of SC2. I also started playing the D2 clone Champions of Norrath.

Re: Woeful Wednesdaily

Happy birthday Pijus :balloons:

(Anyone who plays HC might want to pop into the HC forum and wish Zappa happy birthday too.)

RL: Had a reasonable few hours sleep due to return of the duvet. :cloud9:

D2: Maybe the necro I'm working on. Atil is still unplayable.

OVG: I'm supppsed to do a Master run today.

Re: Woeful Wednesdaily

Happy birthday, Pijus! Lots of birthdays recently. ^^;

And keep me in the know about your RB, JayGun. Sounds pretty awesome. :D

RL: 18-hour work days continue. Worst part is, not all of those 18 hours can be done at work, so I have to finish the rest at home. The labor union office is on the same floor, but it looks deserted. (No surprise there.)

OVG: Microsoft Hearts at work ... I wish. I'd spend more time on the forums if the site logo at the top of the page didn't make it so clear to passers-by that I'm being unproductive. And getting Pal gets rid of only the banners, not the logo, AFAIK. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to be productive or something.

Re: Woeful Wednesdaily

Happy birthday, Pijus!

Essojay, great to see you. It`s been a while:) I hope all is well, except the crazy work load.

RL: Vacation is actually pretty boring stuff. It`s too hot to do anything productive, so I`m probably going for a swim later today. Other than that, I have no plans what so ever.

D2. Probably not.

OVG: SC2!! I really shouldn`t get started on that as I know I`ll go crazy, but it`s probably impossible to resist:)

Re: Woeful Wednesdaily

Hey, good to see you too. :D I really just live for the weekend these days. But this one time I was forced to come to work over the weekend ... things were not pretty the following week. :P

It's been nice to be back and see familiar faces. And the MFO ... wow. You really did sweep the floor, huh?

Oops, I'm getting off topic. Umm ... off to bed!

weekend > sleep > work

Re: Woeful Wednesdaily

Happy Birthday PJ.

RL: Had a delicious fried breakfast with the GF, watched a very sad episode of ER, then spent the rest of the day...

D2: Started new HC chars with PJ, although I'm anxious to quest on with my highest HC char in Norm A5.

OVG: Played a bit of Alien Swarm, still haven't completed it on Normal, let alone Hard, but I'm giving it a good go.

I have an inkling for a film, something foreign with subtitles while the GF is away maybe. I also want to read The Walking Dead #1 which I got for my birthday.

Re: Woeful Wednesdaily

Happy birthday Pijus :)

RL: I'm exhausted from yesterday, had to pull up grass in a 10 feet by 20 feet area then dig down 3 feet, then move all the grass and dirt (about 5 tons of dirt uggh... ) my back got sun burnt enough to where my skin started to bubble up, thank god for aloe vera. i was given the day off today to let me skin heal up a little, tomarrow i get to go fill in the hole with concrete. :S

D2: maybe, work on my assassin later.

OVG: none of much interest atm.

Re: Woeful Wednesdaily

Happy birthday, Pijus!

RL: Home alone, my parents/brother are having a vacation in Czech Republic. Really enjoying it, perhaps it is time to live on my own?

D2: I don't have the amount of time as I want for D2, but we'll see.

HHB

Re: Woeful Wednesdaily

RL: Work was good, have been offered full time hours for the next fortnight which is a necessary financial godsend. Have a few hours to kill before my gf gets up and goes to work.

D2: If you read the RL part i mentioned i had a few hours to kill... Got 2 assassins on the go and another planned...

OVG: You never know

Re: Woeful Wednesdaily

RL: no , not goin to get SC2, not anytime soon.. dont have anymore time to play.. anyway jsut been wake for the last 30h and sooon hittin the sack :)

D2: none

OVG: never!!! muhhahaa

Re: Woeful Wednesdaily

Happy Birthday, Pijus!!

Thanks for the good luck wish, OMG. The first one went well, but the second seemed as if the interviewer had already made up his mind that a lowly rent-a-worker could never satisfy the requirements to become a full-on employee of the Exalted. Anyways. I could be wrong, and I'm pretty sure both my boss and the first interviewer are in my corner, so as long as interviewer #3 isn't the final say, I might have a chance at a second interview or maybe even a tryout. Anyways: fingers-crossed, but not holding my breath.

@Esso: it's good to see you back around these parts, and maybe I should've been commenting on the RB since day one (or since I got sober), since I've already developed a mathematical formula for predicting the conversion of desire to action (later discarded, but still somewhat useful), and delved into the mysterious loss of the so-called golden rule, which I believe exists (in some version) in all cultures, all lands, and among all peoples, but doesn't often seem to apply to the actions of individuals and, espceially, groups. Good times.

Re: Woeful Wednesdaily

Happy birthday, PJ!

Good to see you, esso!

And hopefully your interviews went better than you partly assume, JayGun.
Based upon what you've shared about your RB, maybe you should go into cahoots with my old buddy, Orion. The last time I saw him, he was sharing practically the same exact thoughts with me, and he was lost within himself trying to figure out how to best act as a bastion of good while still maintaining his beliefs, ideals, social status and dignity. ...And still getting paid for it, of course. He graduated from USC with a degree in film (not totally unlike your background in art). I bet you two would hit it off, actually.

As for the Golden Rule, I read a book that mentions it back in high school that I think still applies to this day. I quote from Richard Bach's "Illusions":

"'Seeker, thou comest to me for an answer, and unto thee I do answer: The Golden Rule doesn't work. How would you like to meet a masochist who did unto others as he would have them do unto him? Or a worshiper of the Crocodile God, who craves the honor of being thrown alive into the pit? Even the Samaritan, who started the whole thing. . . what made him think that the man he found lying at the roadside wanted to have oil poured in his wounds? What if the man was using those quiet moments to heal himself spiritually, enjoying the challenge of it?' I sounded convincing, to me.

'Even if the rule was changed to Do unto others as they want to be done to, we can't know how anybody but ourselves wants to be done to. What the Rule means, and how we apply it honestly, is this: Do unto others as you truly feel like doing unto others. Meet a masochist with this rule and you do not have to flog him with his whip, simply because that is what he would want you to do unto him. Nor are you required to throw the worshiper to the crocodiles.'"

Earlier, the above is somewhat summed up in a simple emphasized statement:

"Listen, it's important. We are all. Free. To do. Whatever. We want. To do."

I know that when seeking answers, being told one doesn't always fulfill. But I took the above to heart. The same author writes in another book about Choice. And I wholly agree that there is nothing more powerful than the choices we make. Or choose NOT to make. So long as you follow what's in your head and heart, you'll never make a bad choice. Bad OUTCOMES may follow, but your choices are always pure.

WoT. Needs spoiler tags, huh?
RL: Work's done. Dishes need to be done, but if I run the washer I'll get charged double at this time of day. No real plans. Hopefully talk to Canadian chick since we haven't in the last three days. TV, maybe a game, certainly some lying on the couch. And ooh, a beer sounds pretty good.

D2: If I see FastE, it's possible.

OVG: Practically the same answer as D2, but add Pijus to the mix. It's getting late for them, though...

Re: Woeful Wednesdaily

2AM homies. :Dp

Played Titan Quest with Eddie and Dune. Was goign to go to ebd at 1200, but they convinced me to stay. So. Anyway. It's was good fun though, even though my computer is rubbish. Need to get a new PSU to see if it's the part that's causing problems.

My friend told me he'd give me a knife, and at some point I'll go watch movies in his self made mini-cinema.

Gotta go to bd now.

Re: Woeful Wednesdaily

Haha, that was a fun read, JayGun & TRM. Nice to see you both. :D

I'm waiting for Pal status to be activated ... last time it was instantaneous, so I don't know what's taking so long this time. I kind of need to change the forum background into something more boring (preferably white bg with black text) so it looks more like what I should be reading at work.
