Which facet for Griffon's?

Hey guys I think I am ready to socket my Griffon's Eye but I'm not sure which Lightning facet I should use.

Here is the helm...

Griffon's Eye
Diadem
Defense: 172
Durability: 12 of 20
Required Level: 76
Unidentified
Item Version: 1.10+ Expansion
Item Level: 86
Fingerprint: 0x2ed930c0
+112 Defense
25% Faster Cast Rate
+1 to All Skill Levels
+10% to Lightning Skill Damage
-17% to Enemy Lightning Resistance

and here are the facets I have...

Rainbow Facet
Jewel
Required Level: 49
Item Version: 1.10+ Expansion
Item Level: 86
Fingerprint: 0x80f67144
Adds 1-74 lightning damage
100% Chance to cast Level 47 Chain Lightning When You Die
+5% to Lightning Skill Damage
-4% to Enemy Lightning Resistance

and

Rainbow Facet
Jewel
Required Level: 49
Item Version: 1.10+ Expansion
Item Level: 87
Fingerprint: 0xabaf07aa
Adds 1-74 lightning damage
100% Chance to cast Level 41 Nova When You Level Up
+3% to Lightning Skill Damage
-5% to Enemy Lightning Resistance

I know the -lightning is the more important stat but is the extra -1% on the second one better than the +2% I would gain with the first one?

What do y'all think?

Re: Which facet for Griffon's?

Yeah, -%Res is better so the last is the best. You're not using infinity, right?

I'd consider finding a -3%/+5% facet to get the round numbers +15%/-20%... but that's just me...

EDIT: Stephan below, yeah, that's one more reason to find a -3/+5 facet...

Re: Which facet for Griffon's?

-res is better imo

math:

+1 %ld adds 1% to your lightning attack whatever

however if the monster has 90lr 1%-lr increases damage by 10%
This effectiveness decreases as the monster's lr goes down, but that doesn't matter as low lr monsters are taking huge hits anyway

So yeh, so with the -5lr facet or gieb:tongue:

Re: Which facet for Griffon's?

I honestly think you are not going to notice much of a difference between them.

QFT.

The difference between +3/-5, +5/-3, +4/-4, +4/-5, and +5/-4 isn't really that big, meaning not big enough to actually make the difference if you have to cast another bolt or swing another blow to finish the critter off. Maybe in some very very small/insignificant occasion...it might...maybe.

But of course, +5/-5 will have a big difference...style wise.

Re: Which facet for Griffon's?

the -5% lightning res is much better then the other one. +%lightning damage get's added to your mastery, so for exemple if you have lvl 30 lightning mastery (+398% lightning damage) another 5% will only add around 1% total to your damage.

-5% resistance on the other hand will always add more then 2,5% if you don't use infinity/lower resists on regular monsters and in most cases more then 5%.

Re: Which facet for Griffon's?

Be different! Go with a perfect +5/-5 cold facet. It will help out so many chars in unique ways. It will make your sorc's shiver armor more shivery, and it will make a Fishyzon's frozen arrows so much more frozener. :p

If it ain't perfect, it ain't worth it :)

Re: Which facet for Griffon's?

+5/-4. It's all about the LCS. Bigger numbers are better, and the CL on Death is cooler.

@silo: Nobody likes you, buddy. ;). Besides, your defense is off by 13. =P.

Re: Which facet for Griffon's?

See Gorny's Defcon 1 signature? I'm at Defcon 0.3.

Think about it.

Re: Which facet for Griffon's?

Thank goodness I'm not an enemy of the US then :P

I remember there being a thread about what the whole Defcon thing means, but I'm not too clued up on the other forums around here. Anyway, enough OTing for me, Gambit - put something special in it, try to get hold of a perf one, if you can. Otherwise flip a coin :D
