Does this thing have some real purpose in the game?

Wirt's leg is used to open the cow level after you complete a difficulty level (Wirt's Leg + Tome of Town portal in cube).

Note also that you can edit your posts up to an hour afterwards, so there's no need to double post.

Alright, first of all, you spelled "Wirt" wrong (sorry, I'm pedantic) and two, Wirt's leg is used to get to the Cow Level by putting the leg in the Horadric Cube with a tome of town portal, not a scroll, also you have to keep the game on the same difficulty you killed Diablo or Baal on or else it won't work, or if you don't want to go to the cow level for some reason, you can simply beat monsters over the head with it.

Since you havn't been to cow level, dont kill the cowking unless you do not want to be able to make the level in that difficulty again.

on the orig diablo, wirt was the peg legged boy on the west side of town
he had 1 orig leg and 1 peg leg, i dont really want to know about his 3rd leg
