...what to imbue?!

I've got three characters leveled 88, 82, and 90 that each have 3 imbue quests completed and am wondering how best to use these quests before I delete them and restart everything on my new (and likely final) account. The item I am most in need of is one of those "godly" PvP Necromancer/Boner circlets. Should I just try and imbue circlets/tiaras/diadems, or are there other things worth imbuing? If so - which things are worth the quest(s) either for future PvP use or for trade value. I suppose elite belts (mithril coils/spiderweb sashes/etc.) or elite boots (scarabshell/etc.) are also worth a shot (and maybe elite gloves too)?

I usually imbue boots or gloves. I imbued some boots once and got some nice 30%FRW, +Dexterity, + 30 cold/fire/light (dont remember), +40something Cold/Fire/Light (again, dont remember), + 22 Cold/fire/light. Cant beat that.
 
Diadems can be imubed by lvl 8 chars for just as good mods as a lvl 99 chars imube, meaning it's somewhat wastefull to spend a high lvl chars imube on it. The higher chars can instead use their imubes for the lower "circlet-class" helms, like tiara, coronet and circlet.

Since ilvl doesn't matter for a rare diadem, it can be rerolled with 6 pskulls for any amount of times and still have the chance for any mod on it. thus gathering 6 pskulls is equal to a "re-imube" of it :wink3:

So THAT'S why some people want pskulls!

Every imbue I've done since LOD has been garbage. Likewise any class specific "gift" from Anya. I've had MUCH better results from gambling. :grin:

I know the trick with the Diadem but I have one problem - I can't seem to find them anywhere. I know you have to kill stuff in places like The Pit and high iLvl places. Does an item have to be "white" to be imbue-able or can you like find a rare/magic diadem (for example) and imbue that? What types of boots/gloves/belts do you all use for imbues - anything or do you go for elites? Oh yeah - SirDooFuss - great quote in the signature. Ben Franklin was the man - even with all of his womanizing and debt that the taxpayers were forced to cover! Man, I love America...

EDIT: Also, can I have a checklist of sorts for which mods should be on an imbued item to make it worthy of keeping? Like...lists for gloves/boots/belts mods that I should be on the look for (I know what "common" things to look for, but there could be some lesser-known-but-equally-worthy mods that I would want to have on an item). Keep in mind, I would want to use these for PvP (or trading).



 
stats I look for either my sorc or bowazon:
+2 skills
FCR or IAS depending on character
+strength for caster
+dex for Zon
All resists or resists to lite/cold
Damage reduction

%MF depending on if you're looking to build that kind of char
FRW is awesome as well as FHR
% Crushing Blow is good too

I've seen some rares that drop with 2os. So any combo of the essentials from above with 2os would be, for me, godly. Disclaimer* FOR ME and MY CHARACTERS, not necessarily others

Only white items can be imbued. Rare diadems can be rerolled with the pskull forumula mentioned above. Occasionally I've tried to imbue elite gloves, always with garbage results. As I said, I haven't had a useable imbue since LOD.

Thanks for the comments on my sig. I don't drink since I got married many years ago, and if you saw my wife you'd understand why. :grin: But I still like the quote!

...I don't drink a lot but I'm in college so you know - at least some consumption is bound to happen. Anywho, can someone tell me where I should be looking for diadems, and what my liklihood of finding one is? I haven't found one as of yet.



 
Try the lvl 85 areas such as Pit, Chaos Sanc, WSK, etc. Don't hold your breath though; diadems are rare.

Hahaha, yeah, I tried something kinda funny lately, I imbued a wirts leg, then I tried to do the normal to exceptional runeword for rare items on it, and it turned into a rare hand axe. Hilarious. I was hoping for some wierd named exceptional version of Wirt's Leg ;)



 
Ok. So if I get a diadem I should imbue that (with the low-level character because the iLvl doesn't matter, right?) and HOLD ONTO IT so I can re-roll it with Perfect Skulls, right? I can't re-imbue a rare or magic item either, correct? I'm thinking I should just find a regular diadem or two, imbue them, and just keep re-rolling them with Perfect Skulls while I "spend" my higher-level imbues on elite belts/boots/gloves and the like.

...blah - so much MFing to do. I found a diadem last night in the pits, but unfortunately it had one socket in it so I couldn't imbue it.

Up to you what to do with your "high level" imbues. I wish you luck though!:prop:
