what makes a ring 'gosu'?

hi,
i always wonders when a ring (caster ring) is exactly what they call 'gosu'
i was thinking about this so i went into a game called 'O gosu ring', and the guy shows me a rare ring with 10 fcr/5x ar /20 str /2 dex/ 18%lr
I tought its a nice ring... but "gosu"?
I found these two rings myself:
10fcr
46 ar
19 str
6 energy
29% fire
15% cold

and
10 fcr
23 life
20 str
23% fire
dont know exactly about these stats

now i tought to myself the first ring there was better than his, so I show it and ask, "would this be gosu too?" and he says something like lol no, its got only 19 str blablabla

so when exactly would a ring be called gosu?

when it's in the possesion of the guy making the valuation. You very rarely hear someone calling someone else's rings gosu

Anyway,

FCR
Str
Dex
Life
Mana
Resists
AR (if bvc/wwsin)

Are the stats that makes rings "gosu" the closer to perfect the better.

But wasn't 6 the maximum amount of pre-/suffixes? Your list has 7.

I would say that Life and Dex are not that necessary. Dex might be for some casters, Life for some BvCs and druids as they got huge +life%.

Also, STR is not that useful. Resistances are only useful in special occasions, such as fohers, V/T's and the like.

Usually people look for rings with mainly FCR and Mana.

I agree that resistances are not that useful, but stats are useful, as is life. For those who do not build stats into a ring, life/mana/fcr are musts. For those who use stats in their stat allocation, str/dex would be extremely useful. Bowazons, smiters, max-block windys and even barbs can all build stats into their allocations easily. Dex has nifty uses as well, such as when maintaining max block between shield switches and so on. In the end, it all boils down to whether you want to have the freedom to use wisp/dwarf star/angelics.

I disagree. If it where only this, rares would be so sought after, since you can get 100+mana/10fcr on a ring. People look for a combo of those mods Jakotaco listed. And the OP wanted to know what 'godly' when speaking of rings would mean, 100mana/fcr isnt 'godly'.. just useful.

80-100mana/10fcr cn easily be picked up for pul-ist

the really godly rings include resists, life and mana and maybe stats

rares its hard to pin exactly whats gosu because its a combination of all the mods

I never said "only those", did I? If I would've, your post had been totally justified, but right now, it's not.

Mana and FCR happen to be the primary mods people always look on rare rings in PvP. Only after those come stuff like stats, life, resistances. Of course there are specific rings that are better in one area than the other.

Having a single all-purposes ring is just a statistical impossibility. How many 10fcr/40life/90mana/120ar/20str/11ares rings have you seen? I'd say such a ring would be the perfect all-purposes ring: lots of ar, stats, mana, fcr, life, resistances. It's got it all. That kind of a ring would indeed be "gosu", simply for the rarity, but even more so for the usefulness and perfectness of the useful stats.

My expectations would be

based on immediate or near future needs. Presumably, most Sorcies will have their strength already set and not depend on their rings for strength, because there are other rings you're going to wear to suit the situation your going to be in. After all, If you are going to be hosed by Diablo, it would be nice to slip on a Dwarf and Wisp and not have to worry about losing other gear. So "Gosu" is a matter of perspective from the character's needs, but must still satisfy the fundamental requirements:

10% Faster Cast
9% Life Regeneration
+40 Life
+90 Mana
11% All Resist
...... What ever you want it to be. Myself, I like +5 Light Radius because my eyes have gotten old.

Of course, crafted rings have other abilities that normally don't spawn on rare or magic items, like % mana regeneration and such. For me, throw mana regeneration in (scratch Light Radius) and it would be an ideal ring. However, there is a max number of 3 prefixes and 3 suffixes that can spawn on a rare item. So unless you craft, this is the kind of ring I would want for my Sorcie. I hate the Blood Curse when I am messing around in Act 5, therefore I build my Sorcies to have more Life than Mana.
