weapon and shielf vs 2 weapons for a WW Barb

everyone has been saying how the two weapons in pvm is alot better than weapon and shield. The last time i made a barb all i remember was stormshield was a key item. can someone tell me what has changed and y i now should use two weapons

Previously Whirlwind alternated between weapons in attacking just like ordinary attacks. This meant you didn't attack any faster and lost blocking in exchange. This is why dual-weapon Whirlwinding made no sense at all, but now, probably because of Chaos on Assassins, wearing dual weapons attacks in half-frames similar to Double Swing.

While the DR was required during WW because you can't use potions during the attack and you can't stop the attack voluntarily, now you can leech and kill faster, eleviating the need for DR or even blocking. Just make sure your gear is still good: WW can still get you killed if you're not paying attention.
