We Summoners the outcasts of BNET ?

I play on the US East SC (non-Ladder) and I was just wondering if anyone else has been experiencing increasing hostility from other players during public multyplayer games and mainly during Baal runs.
I know that traditionally we have had to put up with some idiot hollaring for LAG as soon as a Necro joins a game but most of us have learned to look past that and respond with nothing more than an expletive or two :lol:

However its gotten to the point where I have to be very conservative about how many skeles I raise during 8 player Hell Baal runs particularly those where someone teleports directly to the final area of the Throne room and thus you don't have to fight every inch of the way. I can't even think of using Revives (which is fair to me since they do cause a lot of lag sometimes) but even then I've been kicked out of runs just for raising just 8 or 9 skeles (my full number is 13). It seems as well that the worse complainers are the Melee characters such as Barbs and Pallys which is ironic since my main curse, Amp dmg helps them far more than the Sorcs who I suspect are just glad for the meat shields.
I'll still stick with the Summoner build but I guess I'll be doing a lot more solo games from now on.
 
I see your point. I guess it is true that necros can create a certain degree of lag, which in the end hurts yourself as you are also at a higher risk of dying.

The only solution is to play more solo games and just learn to settle with slightly less skellies. But then again, ppl don't complain every game I am in.

Don't worry about it. If they lag, tell em to get a better comp.

Ok I'm assuming you're a summonancer too. So how many minions do you raise on average in public games ?
and is it just Skeles or Mages as well ?
 
I get the same problem on USWEST ladder. The strange thing is, I get blamed even though the sorcs are casting hell lots of FOs/Blizzard and Meteors! That includes the times when most of my skellies are dead and with only 1/2 revives! My conclusion? People are just biased against skellimancers. How to get around this? Use CE or some other bone skill :winner:

Don't sweat it if people whine about your Skellies. They need you, not the other way around. Most of the whining comes from Melee characters who suddenly find out that the only thing they are good for is to provide support in the form of Aura's and War Cries. Kind of like the way it was for necro's before 1.10.

im on uswest hcl

i have not ever recieved one complaint about my
minions

and i always summon the max i can which is atm
10skellies, 4 mages and 6 revives.

no complaints in any baal run or anywhere

currently lvl 61

Very true...especially when there are several gloams etc. in baal runs, skelimancers often save the day by raping them.

Ppl ask me to get more skele even though I have 30 skele + 20 revive on screen :scratch:

While we are clearing there that is...

If we are just teleing to baal I will just make a golem and maybe get a few skele up just incase. No one complainted...yet
 
Same here, I've had a few people ***** when I joined the game, but once they found out that they could stand around and do nothing while my minnions did the work, they didn't care as much.

The only time that I can think I really lag is if I max all of my minnions. Raise Skellie and Raise Mage are fine, but as soon as I hit that Revive button, I notice a bit of lag. It isn't terrible, but its noticable.
 
Hey thanks for the support guys. Its true that everyone loves my skeles when they need the backup to keep the Souls, Lords, etc... off their backs but once that part is done is when the b*****ing & moaning starts.

I like the suggested reply to Lag complainers to, "stop downloading porn while paying "... thats a riot ! :lol:

But you know what would be the ideal reply ?

After getting kicked out of a game just for raising a few skeles, follow the players to the next Hell Baal run; go hostile on all their asses; revive as many Black Souls as I can find and then teleport them all into the throne room. Can you imagine the Pandemonium 15 black souls amped up to 350% life and lightning damage would cause ?
Ah... what sweet revenge. :flip:

Would need Enigma for that stunt though. But I can still dream :drool:

I suspect that when playing Hardcore people are less likely to object to lots of minions since more meat shields means everybody else can take less risks and stay alive longer.
 
HCL - there was one guy who did complain that my skeletons were lagging him but everyone shushed him... hcl means that for most instances ppl all want skeletons... and with a good party of sorc(fire enchanting) and paladins the amount of damage each skelton deals is unbelievable.

If you think you necros are not worth the lag, come over to hcl. you;d be suprised how popular you would be
 
It is a problem here on West. The Lag bias is widespread. If the game glitches in the throne room and Baal refuses to send out the next wave of minions, its ALWAYS the necro that gets blamed especially if revives are alive. I've been dissed for just showing up- two barbs lol- start discussing the sissy sound necros make when they die, as if barbs sound more manly at death.
My current Baal run strategy is to just show up with a merc/ golem and cast AD from a safe distance. I pretty much treat the other characters as my minions and ignore their ignorant comments.
 
i think what creates more lag are those idiot sorcs spamming meteor right before lister... HELLO CAN'T YOU READ THE LIL READ LETTERS UNDER HIS NAME it sez "immune to fire". hmmm i guess that means i should use MORE fire attacks so i look busy

I rather be Bride's Of Destruction(saw them on HeadBanger's Ball last night), Slayer,MegaDeth or MotorHead myself.

As for MY adventures of a Summoner...Sometimes I bring out my 12 Skeletons only, when they start complaining of lag...pops up 11 Mages. If further complaining is heard...brings in 15 Revives..and my pet Poison Vine.

Here's how it was last night:

Another Necro: D@mn Necro....your lagging me to hell.
MD-HellRaiser:thanks, that's what is suppose to happen.

Same Necro: Think you can stop it?
MD-HellRaiser: No, incase you can't tell by my name...I'm a HellRiaser.

SameNecro: I'm on aol, and I'm really lagging very bad.
MD-HellRaiser: LOL,that's the whole purpose of a LAGAMANCER..too lag.

MD-HellRaiser: and i'm on cable...so I don't lag...you should be a barb then..,you bring shame to being a Necro...complaining about lag...that's what we do...and always get blamed for.

The end results, he was booted from the game(wonder why?)

**All the while 2 sorc's, 2 Droods, and a Barb are rolling listening to this and make some comments also**

Afterwards, I told rest of group that if he wasn't a wussy, I would have been a "nice Necro" and just left it at my Skeletons....they all said np.

If anyone sees my Lagamancer in a game...hope that someone isn't being a wussy...'cuz I'll be a d~ck :drink: :buddies:

I saved a nm Diablo game...they were getting wasted so I raise my army and kill everything more or less...course when we got to Diablo, I took a much less important role...they even admitted they needed me...some 10 year old joined in the middle, complained I laged him, so I offered to unsummon everything...the rest of my party freaked:lol:

Though from what I saw of Brides Of Destruction...they are really cool also.

It's Nikki Sixx's new band...and alot heavier than even the early Crue was.
