Viable amazon builds

I was wondering if this is a viable amazon build:

Skills:

BowNCrossbow: max strafe.

Javelin: max jab.

Passive: 1 in each, max Penetrate, put rest skills in valk and decoy.

I find it funny listing gear, as I just put on what I find.

Basically, jab is for bosses with crushinng blow. Strafe for monsters, with hopes that valk and decoy can keep things like dolls away from me.

Is this viable? I find that maxing penetrate is a must as strafe gives no attack bonus and hardly hits in hell.
 
Max Jab is a waste of 19 points and you'll already have high enough attack rating once you max Penetrate.

What do you plan to do about physical immunes? What about Lightning Fury and/or Charged Strike instead of Jab? Or if you prefer the bow/xbow tree maybe Freezing Arrow (and Cold Arrow synergy) or Exploding Arrow (and Fire Arrow synergy).

I dont think it is a waste, I think it is essential... You need close to 95 percent hit accuracy against ubers to stay alive. With life tap, if you miss yuo dont get healed and you die. AR is a real problem with amazon in my opinion. Freezing arrow is ok, but requires a lot of skills both maxing out main and requires synergy. Elemental is just terrible against bosses.
 
I don't think an amazon will do well in uber tristram. In normal pvm 20 jab is a waste , also you didn't say in your first post anything about ubers :rolleyes:
 
I should also mention

Physical ammunes can be taken care of with witchwhild string or an hireling with The Reaper's Toll. The problem is strafe just isn't too powerful, so it is slow...
 
Well, beating ubers is good to

Jab is great, its fast and it has AR bonus. Plop some CB on and you should be good to go. Uinteruptable is nice too.
 
1 point is enough with all + skill items as PhatTrumpet with high level Penetrate you will have more than enough ar

Maybe your right. You think you can obtain at least 90 percent to hit with 1 point against ubers?
 
1) I don't think an amazon could last that well in ubers(just my opinion)
2) Im not sure maybe yes if you had really good gear
3) I play single player so i have never played the ubers but have read enough about them to know enough about them.

I've played against them a few times, they go down fast with CB and lifetap if you have the right resist. Paladins are really good against them since they have the always too hit ability. You can solo them with a summoner necro.

Yeah you would need some very good gear to go against them with the amazon, it is a challange, thats why i'm thinking about trying it.
 
As i say i know/read enough from the people here to know what works with the ubers and what doesn't.

The only way we could know is if you tried :grin: (maybe get a demon limb and use enchant charges to boost ar or get an enchanter :grin: )
 
You can make a solo uber-tristram running amazon with less then 2 ist worth equipment (well...at least on europe ladder, that is :tongue: )

Mine looked like that(I did one):

titans(preferably upped, but it's not essential)
sanctuary shield
treachery
draculs
gores

other equipment is of your choice. Just remember you need max res( well... maybe not needed but it helps a lot). crushing blow from gores is eough, although it will take good 3 minutes of jabbing to kill one uber. Suggested solution is Guillaume's Face as a helm. With this helm you will have 50% crushing blow. It's enough to tear through ubers. I used a wand with life tap charges to curse them before closing in, and used fend to kill minions, but I was wondering wheter one could use strafe for those two things.

One word of warning - if you want to make uber running amazon using "jab" as uber killing skill, don't put point's in D/A/E. Jab is bugged in exactly the same way as fend, and while it's normally almost harmless (full cycle consists of 3 only attacks) you have to remember, that you won't be hitting more then one time per cycle on average( ubers have ~60% chance to block), and with that in mind, a few such "missed" cycles will result in death.

I didn't regreat putting 20 points in jab. her skills:
20 jab
20 fend
20 critical strike
20 penetrate
20 lightning fury
1 pierce
1 all preqs

I've used the hero editor in SP, and it seems to work fairly well. Jab is great on bosses if you can get AR to 95 hit and get a lot of CB. Just takes a few seconds. The forseeable problem is resistance in tristam. But i'll see what I can do.

Wow some great input here. Yeah it seems that D/A/E has some real draw backs.

Fend is probably better in tristam, but strafe is great for iron maiden and taking things down safely. Bows are weak...

The reason I like strafe better is the lightning undeads are just a pain in the ***, strafe makes things a little easier.

for general pvm it's not needed, but for ubers, it's very difficult to have a good chance to hit since they are mlvl 110.

I'm not sure about it. Bows may be weak, but uber's minions ain't that hard. Strafe would be great for killing uber izuals minions since they are Oblivion Knights casting Iron Maiden combined with Venom Lords monsters that are immune to all kinds of damage, but physical. On the other hand I used fend to kill minions that attacked me in the middle of the fight with ubers, and that would be impossible to do with strafe(would have to switch weapons, block helps much, etc, etc).

About resistances:
Fade from treachery = 60% all
Sanctuary = 50%-70% =~ 60%
Anya quests = 30%

thats 150% res all. need only 25% more to have max res in hell, and stacking resists because of uber mephs conviction isn't really needed, although it helps.

In your build you can place the 20 points in lightning with strafe instead, i take it you dont invest much in valk or decoy?
 
to be honest I never even tried them, since I never needed them. I never played a bowazon though. Lightning Fury was very helpfull for general PvM. For a pure uber running amazon it would be a total waste, but these 20 points in lightning tree is enough to make her able to do cows, baal runs and many other places where flexibility is needed.

-edit- wow... It seems like I said that doing cows requires flexibility...:grin: You get the point though...:wink3:

Do you ever run into any lightning immune iron maiden casters?

What about golemns/ lightning shooters?

I'm not sure they ever posed a serious threat. Maybe if I played her in hardcore I would've noticed wheter OKs are lightning immune... I only remember uber izuals minions being a royal pain in the... neck :tongue:

You can easily fight with them if you have max lightning res and 1200+ life, or any amount of life while wearing T-Gods. Well... at least you can fight them when there is no conviction boss around...:wink3:
