Total Damage- Tombreaver vs Reaper's Toll

My Blizz sorc keeps running into CIs, and I've figured my merc is the best way to kill them. Pindle is undead, so are the skellies that are always undead in WS2 and Throne. If we're talking about when only attacking undead, which will do more damage?

Tomb Reaver with 3 Elds (lets figure 250% ED, thats pretty much middle of the road, and 160% plus 225% from the 3 elds ED to undead).

Or Reaper's Toll with 1 Eld and the decrep cast (200% ED, and -50% phys resistance).

my cold sorc does fine with a bonehew. added bonus is that it also can affect pi's. i used a -15 req jewel and a pskull. with the -15 req, the str comes down to a point where a merc can wield it immediately after hitting the lvl req.

ideally though, i should get an etheral bonehew with amn/shael, amn/amn, or pskull/pskull.
 
Hehe bonehew serves my necro well :).

Any idea about my question? I have both and was screwing around with them... and they definitely kill faster than bonehew (which I also have), but I cant really tell which is better. My tomb reaver only has 1x eld in it atm too (I CANT FIND ANY OTHER ELDS! ahhh!!!) and my Reapers has one.

Pskull ? :scratch: Mercs dont use mana.
Amn/Amn is the way to go. It needs 10 IAS for the next breakpiont which you can easily get with IAS jewel or stealskull.
 
IMO Reaper's is better because decrep clearly outweighs the ed to undead. For a MF setup, I would suggest Tomb Reaver, however.

I made Pindleruns with a cold sorc and a merc using Reaper's, Crown of Thieves and Gris armor with 3 ias jewels. He died perhaps 1 in 100 times. When I switched to Tomb Reaver with 2 Amn, PT Stealskull and eth PT Skullder's, he died twice as often. I sticked to the MF setup because the difference between paying 50k once per 100 runs and once per 50 runs isn't that great ;)

For necros it's nonsense to use Reaper's, as you already said, but I prefer an ethereal upped Kelpie Snare rather than Bonehew
 
My merc never dies with either setup. Dont think I've ever had him die, actually, unless I die first. The slowed effect on decrep means nothing to me, but if the -50% phys resist DOES OUTWEIGH the higher ED and the massive + to undead ED of tomb reaver, then I would use reapers. Does it IN DAMAGE ONLY?
 
Decrep isn't hurting the enemies, of course, but reduces their resistances and slows them down which means less attacks and therefore less damage to the merc.

From the decrepped monster's point of view, the foe moves twice as fast and attacks twice as much. That roughly means a 35-450 Reaper's Toll is as good as a 70-900 one without decrep, and with an ability that makes you run twice as fast.
