Tip: Paladin with high lvl Valk

I was messing around with my "harmony" runeword bow, which i was going to put on my hammerdin's rogue merc for the vigor aura (can't afford enigma to teleport). Another feature of this bow is that it grants + 2-6 to valkyrie.

Now usually when you use charged items or +cross class skill items, when you unequip them, the summons you make with them disappear. However, I found that sometimes (random or method of unequip related?), when i put my harmony in my cube and put back on my sword/shield, the valkyrie DOES NOT DISAPPEAR!!

Now 2-6 valk would still be a bit weak to be worth walking around with. However, +all skills (not +paladin skills) can increase the level to create quite a usefull tank.
Amazons usually aim for lvl 17 after +skills because at that level the valk gets a War pike.

With a perfect +6 harmony like mine you would need +11 skills;
for example: 2 from mara's, 2 from shako, 2 from soj's, 2 from Arkaine's, 1 from arachnid, 1 from anni; total +10
Leaves you one point short :( Still, lvl 16 valk is nothing to sneeze at.

This strategy would be even better for fragile characters like sorc's, who usually carry around the necessary +skill gear already.

Can anyone verify that the valk not disappearing is not just a bug of my particular "harmony"?
Anyone any ideas on how to reach lvl 17 that I could have overseen?

On mine it doesent work.
When I move harmony valkirie dies no mather what.
tell exacly how did U do thet and what char is used..
maybe it can be true but I doubt..

I have experimented a bit and think I know the trick to it...

Note that all my experiments were done with my lvl 70 hammerdin, wearing a tarnhelm and wielding spirit sword and shield. Difficulty was nightmare. If you need any further details I'll be happy to give them.

What i've noticed is that you need to have +1 to all skills, which sort of "sustains" the valk when you unequip the bow, and also be sure to switch the right click skill to anything other than summon valk before you re-equip your weapon and shield. Under these conditions, I got it to work most of the time. An experiment with wizard spike as weapon and pelta lunata as shield showed that the +skills from spirit is not a factor; the trick works without it.

Unfortunately, the valk still seems to disappear after some time... 4 minutes max I think.
Change in +skills (battle command or +skill shrine running out, equipment change) seem to have a negative influence on the lastability.

If you need proof I've made some screenshots

Now I proudly present to you:

Quark's (4 minute) Valk-for-All mini guide version 0.02

Step One: Make sure your character is wearing at least one +1 to all skills item, that is not a shield or weapon. Not +1 to class specific skills, but a +skills item that works for ALL characters, like Tarnhelm, SoJ etc. Equip as many +skills as possible for a stronger valkyrie!

Step Two: Equip your Harmony (preferably a +6 one)

Step Three: Change your right click skill to "Summon valkyrie" and cast your valk.

Step Four: Wait for the casting delay on Summon Valk to end (skill tuns white again) Now change the right click skill back to any other skill, as long as it's not "Summon Valk"

Step Five: Remove Harmony and Re-equip your weapon (and shield if you use that).

Step Six: Now if all is well, you will have a Valkyrie fighting at your side. Unfortunately, longest i've seen her last is three minute and fourty seconds; most of that was walking around in town.

does it still work if you keep it equipped in your second weapon spot or does it have to be unequipped to work?

Harmony goes in bows, you won't benefit from these +Skills since they wouldn't be active.

It's very cool. I tried it on my Barb once but couldn't get past switching out te weapon; I'll test it out later. Very cool.
