The Quest For Green Breasts Tourney Sign-up

After finding my 3000'th isenharts breast plate and shaking my head in disgust, I thought to myself, "how can i make finding these things rewarding." Then it occured to me that I should host a tournament where finding the blasted green breastplates of let down becomes a goal rather than something to run past as you head towards the chest behind mephy.
My plan is to have players collecting the green breastplates, and quite simply the player who collects 150 of them the quickest gets all of the entrances hellforge runes.

RULES:
1. Tournament starts July 23(but you can begin your hellforge quests now so you will be ready to collect breastplates by then, the following rules explain in better detail.) The tournament will end when the first 150 are announced and confirmed by me.

2. All players must start an untwinked character of there choosing and obtain all three of their hellforge runes and hellforge perfect gems(for the prizes). Once this has been completed you must post your three runes and perfect gems and also send them on a mule or atma stash to my email address at [email protected]. No breastplates shall be collected through the period of obtaining your hellforges. Once this has been done and it is 12:00 A.M. eastern time on July 23 you may then begin to collect your green breastplates.

3. The breastplates may be collected anywhere in any difficulty with one little drawback. The last 10 of your 150 must be collected from hell baal only.
Even if you collected more then 10 from hell baal you still have to get your last 10 from him.

4. You may MP with anyone in or out of the tournament BUT, if a green breastplate drops in a game and someone picks it up before you, it then becomes null and void for your purposes, even if they give it to you. So be sure to tell fellow players what you are doing before one drops so you will get credit for the breasplate. All counted breastplates must have been touched by you and you only, No exceptions.

5. Be sure to make a seporate atma stash for your green breastplates only which will also be mailed to me for counting at the end of the tourney.

6. You can mule off but not on your character.

7. Try and post progress as often as you can so everyone knows what they are up against. If you obtain the 150 mark first, immediately post it and send the stash to me. Even if you are the first to post victory the winner will be the first 150 stash that I accually recieve so make sure and do that post haste. Once I have confirmed a winner I will then immediately post the winning player and at that point everyone must stop play(as soon as you see the post of course) and mail thier stashes to me for counting for second and third places. I will also post the total sum of breastplates obtained for pure curiousity reasons.

8. you can join at any time until the game ends just so as long as you are properly signed up and registered.

9. If for some reason the tourney doesnt get enough interest and/or is cancelled I will email all current players their runes and pgems back to them.

10. I shouldnt have to mention this but i am going to anyways. NO other breastplates count except the ones you find with your tournament character, so no muling, trading ect..... of breastplates.

11. When sending your atma stashes to me please make sure you name them after your account name to avoid confusion.

12. Even though you will not have your hellforge runes yet, i would still like to see who is interested in playing, then you can complete the registration when you finish the quests.

Well that about sums it up. I am sure i have left out a few things so be sure to ask any questions you may have. I say we give ole isenhart something to be proud of. This is a tribute to all little green breastplates who faded into binary oblivion from the dreaded save & exit button. Be sure to start on your characters and hellforge quests as soon as possible so you can register and be ready to collect the breasplates on the 23rd. Also if this thing gets going i will make a new progress thread and keep the registration thread seporate.
 
i didn't read your whole post, so maybe this has been covered, but...

i think you'd better clear the rewards plan with AE & Kremtok. My impression after the FB banning fiasco was that runes will not be given away on the SPF again - no exceptions. I could be wrong though. Sorry to be a prude, but I'm reporting this thread to them.

Good luck on the tourney though.
 
I like the idea, though. Just change the reward scheme. People could donate MF runs (sans r00nz), for example.
 
Sounds like a good idea. lol, if i competed id definately win. isenhart is a close friend of mine :P

But i dont have time to compete, i work full time and am out a lot so i only get 1 hr of D2 per night now.

Btw, the first prize is INSANELY good - think of all the high level runes

whilst the other two prizes are pretty crap
 
I must also say that even if the Mods were to allow such a prize, I find it hard to believe anyone will send runes of such high quality without having a long and secure relationship with that member; I myself would find it extremely imprudent, and find the whole concept murky.

If the rune rewards thingie doesn't pan out, I'd like to offer my MFO stash up as a prize. I kept most elite set/uniques that I found, and there's a few nice bits and pieces in there (ss, multiple eschuta's etc. might even be a tzchnaarko :)). All these items were found in HC, but I don't think anyone will have a problem with the stuff being used on SC chars instead.

I'll have to wait and see what (if anything) the MFO winners claim from me, and I will remove any grailers that I have there. Even still, there's about 85 items in there at the moment. Let me know what happens.

oh, and the 3th price, well, is not realy a price, is it ? rather annoing to have 100's of isenhardt breastplates :) i d refuse it if i came in 3th, all i can say :)

It must be more of a trophy, really.

Getting 10 Isenhart's Cases from Hell baal only might actually take a while. As much as I like to make fun of it for being so common, I only get about four (rough estimate) each day doing Baal runs, and a few of them are from minions anyway. Untwinked chars can take much longer to do Baal runs, and will probably have not nearly as much MF, so.. :lol:
 
its not a bad idea for a tourny as such. i do think though, common as they are, finding 150 green breast plates, and especially 10 from hell baal might take a lot longer than you realise. atma has the odds of hell baal dropping one at players1 with 300 mf as 1:51. this means to get 10 from him is at least 500 hell baal runs. of course he wont drop one every run...
 
Sorry this is my first reply to everyone since posting. Anyways I thank you all for the input. I may have been a bit hastey posting the tourney without properly thinking it through. I know the rune prize might be against the rules(although from what I read, I thought rune trading was the only banned thing, but I may have overlooked some things). The bottom line is, I dont want to piss in anyones cheerios over the rune stuff so I would be all for tweeking the rules/prizes to gain more interest. That being said, I will hold off on the start of tourney until I get some more ideas on how to do this. Speaking for myself, I think the overall idea sounds like fun for the challenge and also the comical value. Also I would like to apologize to the mods if I have broken the rules about runes. This is a great forum and I mean no disrespect to the rules. I would greatly appreciate some more input or good ideas to make it a better tourney.
 
you know, if you go hunting for green breast plates, none will drop! :clap:

or can the will of the Green Breast Plate overcome that of the D2 Item God? :scratch:
 
For some strange reason, I doubt that'll be the case.

Same for Cathan's rings; there was a post here about how someone was collecting them to see how many they could have, so I ran around for a couple hours so I could donate. I didn't figure to find too many in just two or three hours, but I ended up finding four and two Angelic rings to boot!

And geeeez, if I came in third I'd have enough breast plates to hand out as gifts for Christmas for everyone here on the board! ...I bet a lot of people would ask for a receipt so they could return them and get something better, too...
 
I have some recent experience with playing and recording my items.

I launched a Septavirate, softcore, seven characters who started untwinked but who have shared items freely with each other. I have recorded every set and unique item I have found as my seven charcters each progressed through normal and nightmare. The seven characters are all in Act 1 or Act2 Hell now. In Normal they played P8 with an MF of about +200 by Act 3. In nightmare they played P3, with an average MF of +130. They are playing at clvl =75 to 79 in Hell on P1 with an MF of about 50 (30-100).

I have found a total of 17 Isenhart's Cases. I also have 19 Clegaw's Tooth, 14 Cathan's Meshes, 12 Civerb's Wards, and 11 Cathan's Seals.

That's it, between all 7 characters!

So, IMO, a goal of 150 green breast plates is unrealistic.

No problem. Rune giveaways have been off limits since the new trade forum began. I did make a few exceptions, but one backfired - in grand style. :rolleyes: So no more exceptions.
