Tech-support - Unhandled exception

Hi,

So I just had a potentially very frightening situation; while doing a Baalrun, I got a windows message saying "Diablo2 unhandled exception - Access violation c0000004 (or something)." That's some kind of registry key i think? And yes, I'm bashing myself for not writing the thing down, but windows error messages are so worthless anyway..

I don't even want to think of that happening just after I see a gold Sacred armor dropping... :no:

Thus far I don't remember diablo ever crashing, and afaik, it's almost unheard of anyway. Does anyone have ideas what could cause this?

I'm running D2 1.12a RRM/RWM without the CD, in a window with WinXP sp3, the only program running besides D2 is symantec firewall/virus software (Symantec Endpoint protection).

You aren't using a Delirium on you or your merc, are you? Sometimes that causes the game to crash with an unhandled exception. And FYI, it has nothing to do with registry keys.

No Delirium, very standard pure lightning sorc gear with infinity on the merc. Thus far hundreds of runs and no probs. I've been trying to think what has changed but with no luck...

c0000005 most probably. Do you use glide wrapper? I think my copy started to crash occasionally after installing it.

Now that you mention it, I do use it. Although it doesn't do any good that I can tell, it was still selected in vidtest... It is not, now.

Weird, it was the first time it did that and it was months ago when I installed the wrapper... I hope that ends any threats to my Tyraels, that is surely just around the corner

I just had the same error LD. I don't use the glide wrapper because I haven't got it to work with my new graphics card.

Check this there is a section on the error.

*touch wood* no problems since.
