Spyware taking over Account password?

I was playing my new ladder character tonite in classic (regular, non LOD) D2 and suddenly started lagging. I had been playing for 5 hours. AFter a few seconds diablo died and i couldnt even hit ESC to exit game and go to next game. So I turned off my computer and rebooted.

Then it said "invalid password"!! Several times...

First i thought this was some lag issue, but it kept happening. So I went to this forum to see if anything weird was happening to other people. When I quit out of this forum, a msg informed me:

Warning: spyware may be in use on this computer

files cannot be downloaded on the computer I was using, so i dont think it was a trojan. I switched to another computer and was unable to get my acct logged on, maybe i tried 5x before and got a time penalty. Then i was finally able to log on, password unchanged, and nothing missing.

I am going to change my password now, from some other site, i dont trust either of my computers. Anyone else experience this tonite? since ladder? or know how this can happen?

I'd say download ad-aware, and scan your computer right away.

Probably it’s because you have downloaded the pack / dir d2maphack_63. In that package their was a file called: d2maphackKEYGENCRACK.exe. This is a Trojan. It steels your cd key and bye bye. For these cases you need to have a firewall that will prevent sending / receiving information from you PC.

Everyone who wants to cheat deserves cd key good bye … Snowieken don’t you agree?


Ps:ad-aware will not remove this file.

well...

this computer has a firewall, and i havent downloaded any maphacks, but i cant be certain that someone else did recently, all the computers at this facility were reghosted a few weeks ago.
