Socketed Orbs.. Yes or no?

From DiabloWiki:
"No orbs currently have any sockets, nor can you even add one with the Socketing quest reward. Also all orbs are magical or better now, the inherent bonus always makes the orb count as magical."

I know for a fact I can add sockets to orbs with the quest - Ist'd Oculi, Fal'd Tal Rasha's, etc. Does this mean the no-sockets-in-orbs rule is also incorrect?

I can't for the life of me remember ever seeing a socketed orb, but I also cannot remember specifically not seeing them.
Apart from this, Arreat Summit states that, for example, the 'Leaf' runeword cannot be made in Orbs. Wouldn't this be a moot point if what DiabloWiki says is true?

i've found numerous socketed orbs.

wish they'd make a rune word specifically for sorc orbs

orbs can get 3 sockets.

This might have been true in older versions of the game, but it definitely isn't true now. Sockets can be added to any orb, and 'plain' or lower quality ones exist - sometimes they drop with sockets too.

In fact, I use a lot of socketed orbs as level-up helpers early on. For example, if I'm building a cold-sorc, this can be handy for a brief time:

(and, afaik, you can't make Leaf in orbs, but I'm tempted to try now just to be sure - it's not like the runes are expensive).

Maybe I was unclear: My point was, why would Arreat Summit state that Leaf cannot be made in Orbs, if Orbs have no sockets anyway? Hope that clarifies =)

I've found diablowiki to be pretty accurate... for patch 1.07 Most of the data hasn't been updated, just taken directly from the old website.

Leaf specifies that it needs a staff, but you can make malice or strength in an orb iirc.

- Orbs are considered weapons but not melee nor ranged, something in betveen probably ... and so nobody could make a 'melee' RW in them, but 'weapon' RW's are make-able.. Venom for instance, or BotD if you finde 6soc one..
- I have been always thinking that it would be uber-cool for a Sorcye to wield HotO in her native weapon...
